Mud bay rv park and motel Introduce
For New York residents looking to trade the city skyline for the serene horizons of the Thousand Islands, Mud Bay RV Park and Motel offers an authentic North Country escape. Located in the charming village of Cape Vincent, where the St. Lawrence River meets Lake Ontario, this family-owned destination serves as a peaceful retreat for campers, boaters, and road trippers alike. The park is characterized by its "low-key" and rustic atmosphere, making it a favorite for those who prefer quiet sunsets and crackling campfires over the bustling crowds of larger commercial resorts. Whether you are pulling in with a large rig or looking for a cozy motel room, Mud Bay provides a welcoming base for exploring the unique maritime heritage of Jefferson County.
The property is uniquely positioned on the shores of Mud Bay, an expansive 200-acre bay known for its tranquil waters and exceptional fishing. For years, the owners have cultivated a community-focused environment where guests often return season after season. Local visitors frequently comment on the personal touch provided by the management, who are known to personally check in on guests and share local insights about the best fishing spots or upcoming village events. This level of hospitality, combined with the "rustic-yet-reliable" facilities, makes Mud Bay RV Park and Motel a quintessential example of the hospitality found in the 1000 Islands-Seaway region.
Location and accessibility are primary draws for this waterfront haven. Situated at 28453 County Rd 6, Cape Vincent, NY 13618, the park is easily reachable for those traveling from Central New York or the Northway. For travelers coming from the New York City area, the journey through the scenic I-81 corridor leads directly toward the majestic Lake Ontario shoreline. Once you arrive, the park features a wheelchair-accessible parking lot and flat terrain, ensuring that all guests can navigate the grounds with ease. Its proximity to the village of Cape Vincent means you are only a short drive away from historic landmarks like the Tibbetts Point Lighthouse and the local ferry to Canada, yet far enough removed to enjoy the absolute silence of the bay at night.

What is worth choosing when it comes to Mud Bay RV Park and Motel is the peace of mind that comes with a "low-key" and owner-operated establishment. For the New York traveler, this place is worth choosing because it bypasses the commercial flash of larger resorts in favor of genuine hospitality and a "peaceful place on the water." It is particularly worth choosing if you are an avid fisherman; having your boat in a slip just steps from your RV or motel room saves valuable time during those early morning bites. The motel's kitchen-equipped rooms are also a standout choice for those who want to fry up their "catch of the day" in a comfortable, private setting.
Furthermore, the park is worth choosing because of its strategic location near Cape Vincent. As the "gateway" to the Thousand Islands, Cape Vincent offers a slower pace than the neighboring Alexandria Bay, yet provides all the essential services and charming local dining options you might need. Choosing Mud Bay allows you to enjoy the quietude of a rustic bay while remaining close enough to visit the local breweries, historical museums, and scenic waterfront parks that make this corner of New York so special. Whether you are coming for a weekend of kayaking or a season of relaxation, Mud Bay RV Park and Motel offers a refreshed perspective on the Great Lakes lifestyle.

Excellent place, very beautiful. The owners are absolutely hospitable and very attentive to their guests. When I arrived at the Campground I had a problem with the plumbing of my RV and they helped me, since I had no other vehicle, they took me to approximately 40 minutes in their vehicle so that I could find the parts, they repaired the problem without any charge.
