Newcomb Campground Introduce
In the very heart of the Adirondack Mountains lies a sanctuary for those seeking to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature. Newcomb Campground, often referred to as the Newcomb Cafe and Campground, offers a quintessential North Country experience for residents across the New York region. This family-owned and operated destination provides a unique combination of rustic outdoor adventure and the comforting hospitality of a small-town hub. Whether you are an avid hiker aiming for the High Peaks or a family looking for a peaceful weekend by the pond, this campground serves as a welcoming home base in one of the most scenic areas of the Empire State.
The philosophy at Newcomb Campground is centered on a "digital detox." While modern life often demands constant connectivity, this park encourages guests to unwind and explore the 21,000-acre Boreas Tract or the historic Great Camp Santanoni, both of which are located just a short distance away. The atmosphere is consistently described by local users as clean, casual, and incredibly friendly. It is a place where the morning air smells of Adirondack pine and the sound of the wind through the trees replaces the noise of city traffic. The integration of a popular on-site cafe ensures that you never have to choose between a night under the stars and a delicious, professionally prepared meal.
Location and accessibility are standout features for this destination. Situated at 5575 NY-28N in Newcomb, New York, the campground is positioned along a primary scenic route that connects the central Adirondacks to the surrounding mountain passes. For New Yorkers traveling from the capital region or central parts of the state, the drive is as beautiful as the destination itself. The park is highly accessible, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, and restrooms, ensuring that the beauty of the Adirondacks is available to everyone. On-site parking is ample, catering to both standard vehicles and larger RV setups.
The campground’s proximity to local landmarks makes it a strategic choice for explorers. It is within walking distance of the Newcomb Town Beach and the boat launch on Lake Harris. For those interested in regional history and high-altitude trekking, the facility is approximately 12 miles from the Upper Works trailhead, a major gateway to the High Peaks Wilderness. This central location allows guests to spend their days paddling, hiking, or visiting the nearby Adirondack Interpretive Center before returning to the quiet comfort of their campsite in the evening.

What is worth choosing when it comes to an Adirondack getaway? Newcomb Campground is worth choosing because it represents the perfect middle ground between rugged wilderness and modern convenience. Many state-run campgrounds in the region close shortly after Labor Day or Columbus Day, but this family-run facility often remains available to accommodate those who enjoy the crisp air of late-season camping. Choosing this site means you are supporting a local business that takes immense pride in its property, from the flowers on the back deck to the meticulously maintained hiking trails that start right next door.
Furthermore, the convenience of the on-site cafe cannot be overstated. After a long day of hiking the Boreas tract or kayaking on Lake Harris, having a "delicious spot" to grab a meal where the owners are "so friendly and helpful" makes all the difference. The commitment to maintaining a quiet, family-oriented environment ensures that your sleep won't be interrupted by unruly parties, as the park enforces strict quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM. For New York residents who want a reliable, clean, and scenic place to call home for a week, Newcomb Campground is an exceptional choice that delivers the best of the Adirondacks.

Definitely a cute, and delicious spot to get lunch in Newcomb. The food was very good, and everyone enjoyed it. I definitely would of rather the bread be wheat than white… I wish they had different bread options.I loved that there was a choice of sides… and the variety in dressings for the side salad.I have heard that their breakfast is really good… which I didn’t try, but I believe is good. The atmosphere is cute… very clean and casual.I would definitely come back again when I am in Newcomb again. :)
We had a great lunch here. Service was friendly, the food was very good, and their concern for our gluten free needs was outstanding. Days and hours are limited so check their website. The atmosphere is "small town" and perfect for the setting. They have the only gas pump in town but we had to pay cash because it wouldn't take my VISA or MC. They were easy to deal with in solving that issue. They come out and turn the pump on for you.
My wife and I have been coming the past few years about twice a year to camp. We really love the place, including our grandkids. The owners have done an outstanding job with the campground and cafe. It's really important to the area and locals. They've invested in the community and it in return. Recently, due to serious health need , this place is looking for new owners. We hope for continued sustainable leadership going forward.
We loved camping here . It’s a small , family run campground. The owners are so friendly and do an amazing job of keeping the campground spotless. We brought our grandkids here last year and they loved it as well . They named a frog they found in our tent “Jimmy” after one of the owners . There are seasonal sites available as well as short term camper and tent sites. The cafe is wonderful as well . Delicious food presented in a way you’d not expect in a small town cafe .
Newcombe Cafe and Camground is absolutely wonderful! The campgrounds are well kept and it was a peaceful stay. The Cafe was a perfect way to start the morning. It was charmingly decorated and everyone from the owners, staff and other customers were welcoming and pleasant. This is a must stop for anyone that is going through the area!
