Old Trail Campground Introduce
Old Trail Campground is a hidden gem nestled along the historic Susquehanna Trail in Liverpool, Pennsylvania. For residents of the Keystone State looking for an authentic and budget-friendly outdoor escape, this campground offers a refreshing departure from overly commercialized resorts. It captures the essence of traditional Pennsylvania camping—wide-open spaces, a relaxed "laid-back" vibe, and direct proximity to the natural beauty of the Susquehanna River valley. Whether you are a local from nearby Harrisburg seeking a weekend retreat or a traveler exploring the scenic routes of Central PA, Old Trail Campground provides a welcoming home base that prioritizes community and affordability.
The campground has earned a reputation among the local camping community for its generous lot sizes and the personal touch of its management. Unlike many modern parks where sites are tightly packed, Old Trail emphasizes personal space, allowing campers to set up large RVs, multiple tents, and outdoor living areas without feeling "on top of" their neighbors. This sense of openness, combined with a commitment to constant property upgrades, makes it a preferred choice for families who value freedom and a quiet environment. It is a place where the crackle of a campfire and the rustle of leaves are the primary soundtrack to your stay.
Location and Accessibility are standout features for those navigating the central region of Pennsylvania. Situated at 1700 Susquehanna Trail, Liverpool, PA 17045, the campground is remarkably easy to find and reach. It sits directly on Route 11/15, a major north-south artery that provides a scenic drive along the Susquehanna River. This location makes it highly accessible for large motorhomes and trailers, avoiding the narrow, winding backroads that can often complicate a camping trip. Its position in Perry County places it approximately 30 miles north of Harrisburg, making it a convenient destination for a quick getaway from the state capital or a strategic stop for those traveling toward Selinsgrove and Sunbury.
The campground serves as a gateway to the diverse attractions of Central Pennsylvania. For families, the location is ideal for day trips to local landmarks. Within a short drive, visitors can explore the historic Millersburg Ferry, the oldest continuously operating transportation ferry in the United States, which carries cars and passengers across the river. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the various state game lands and the riverside views that define the Liverpool area. Despite its proximity to the highway for easy travel, the park maintains a peaceful atmosphere that feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
