Roaring Brook Co-Op Camp Introduce
Roaring Brook Co-Op Camp, located in the scenic hills of Stafford Springs, Connecticut, represents a unique model of outdoor living that distinguishes it from traditional overnight campgrounds. As a cooperative community, it offers families the opportunity to own their own slice of the Connecticut countryside. This 76-acre retreat is designed for long-term seasonal enjoyment, providing a sense of stability and community that is often missing from transient RV parks. Bordering the expansive Nipmuck State Forest, the campground serves as a perfect gateway for those who want a permanent summer escape without leaving the comforts of a well-managed association behind.
The atmosphere at Roaring Brook is one of relaxed camaraderie. Because many of the residents own their sites through a proprietary lease system, the campground feels more like a tight-knit neighborhood than a temporary stopover. It is a place where neighbors become lifelong friends and generations of families return year after year to enjoy the tradition of Connecticut camping. The grounds are meticulously maintained, featuring a mix of open, sun-drenched sites and heavily wooded, secluded areas that provide the quintessential New England forest experience. Whether you are looking for a place to park a large RV for the season or a quiet spot to set up a more permanent camp, this cooperative offers a professional yet friendly environment for all ages.
Location and accessibility are among the top reasons locals choose Roaring Brook Co-Op Camp. Situated at 8 South Road in Stafford Springs, the campground is easily accessible via Route 190 and I-84, making it a convenient destination for residents from Hartford, Tolland, and even across the border in Massachusetts. Despite its ease of access, the property feels remarkably remote, tucked away from the main roads and surrounded by the lush greenery of the state forest. For those with mobility considerations, the campground provides wheelchair-accessible entrances and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot at the main office and common buildings, ensuring that every member of the family can navigate the core facilities comfortably.
The services offered at Roaring Brook Co-Op Camp are comprehensive, focusing on providing a "carefree adventure" for its members and their guests. The cooperative management handles the heavy lifting of infrastructure, allowing residents to focus on recreation. Available services include:
- Full hookup capabilities at campsites, including water, electricity, and septic services to accommodate modern RVs and campers.
- Underground utilities and pre-installed cable access, with additional phone and high-speed internet options available through local providers.
- On-site garbage disposal and general infrastructure maintenance, including road care and landscaping of common areas.
- An electronically controlled gated entrance that uses magnetic card access for enhanced security and privacy.
- A dedicated camp store that serves homemade breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while also stocking basic camping supplies, ice, and snacks.
- Professional management of seasonal events and property taxes, simplifying the ownership experience for shareholders.
- Modern payment processing that accepts debit cards and NFC mobile payments for convenience at the store and office.
The features and highlights of the campground are designed to keep families engaged throughout the entire April-to-October season. From water-based recreation to organized community games, the amenities cater to a wide range of interests. Highlights of the facility include:

- Athletic facilities including a basketball court, two bocce courts, shuffleboard, and a putting green for active recreation.

What is worth choosing about Roaring Brook Co-Op Camp is the unique sense of ownership and the quality of the "summer home" experience it provides. Unlike standard campgrounds where you are a guest for a weekend, here you are a member of an association. This means you have a vote in the campground's future and a permanent spot to call your own. The annual maintenance fees cover the essentials, making it an affordable alternative to owning a traditional vacation home while providing far more amenities than a simple plot of land.
The proximity to Nipmuck State Forest also makes it a premier choice for outdoor enthusiasts. Having hundreds of acres of protected forest as your "backyard" provides a level of tranquility and access to nature that is hard to find elsewhere in the state. Combined with the robust schedule of social committee events—ranging from kids' activities to adult-focused game nights—Roaring Brook offers a balanced lifestyle. It is a place where you can be as social or as private as you wish, all while enjoying the beautiful landscape of Stafford Springs. If you are looking for a long-term camping solution in Connecticut that prioritizes family, community, and the great outdoors, Roaring Brook Co-Op Camp is an exceptional choice.
