Salmon River Family Campground Introduce
For outdoor enthusiasts and dedicated anglers across New York, the village of Pulaski is synonymous with world-class sportfishing and serene natural landscapes. Nestled in the heart of this region is the Salmon River Family Campground, a welcoming destination that has quickly become a favorite for those seeking a balance of adventure and relaxation. Established in 2023, this family-operated facility caters to the unique needs of the "Salmon River crowd"—a community of travelers who value proximity to the water, a friendly atmosphere, and the simple joys of a crackling campfire under the Upstate New York stars.
The Salmon River Family Campground is designed to be a "home away from home" for families and solo adventurers alike. Whether you are arriving in a high-end RV or with a simple tent and a fishing rod, the park emphasizes a personal touch that is often lost in larger corporate resorts. Its mission is to provide a clean, secure, and stress-free environment where memories are made by the riverbank. With a focus on hospitality and a prime location, it serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring the 17 miles of the Salmon River, famous for its record-breaking Chinook and Coho salmon runs.
Location is the ultimate draw for this campground. Situated at 437 County Route 48 (Site #445) in Pulaski, NY 13142, the park is located in the hamlet of Pineville. This strategic position puts campers directly between the village of Pulaski and the town of Altmar, granting easy access to some of the most productive fishing holes on the river. The campground is located directly across the street from the Pineville Pool parking area, meaning guests are only steps away from the 12 miles of public fishing rights that make this waterway a legend in the Northeast.
Accessibility is a priority for the facility, ensuring that the beauty of the Oswego County outdoors is available to everyone. The campground features a layout that accommodates various vehicle sizes, and the entrance is designed for ease of use. For those traveling from Syracuse or Watertown, the park is conveniently located just a few miles from Interstate 81 (Exit 36 or 37), making the drive straightforward and scenic. Once on-site, campers will find wheelchair-accessible facilities, including restrooms and parking areas, allowing guests with mobility needs to enjoy the camping experience alongside their families and friends.
The services offered at Salmon River Family Campground are tailored to provide comfort without sacrificing the authentic "outdoorsy" feel of a traditional New York camping trip. The management, led by owner George, is known for proactive communication and a willingness to accommodate special requests, from specific site placements to late-night arrivals. The service model is built on reliability and a genuine passion for the camping lifestyle.

What makes Salmon River Family Campground truly worth choosing is the combination of its management's dedication and its unbeatable location. In a region where the best fishing spots are highly competitive, being able to walk from your campsite to the riverbank is a significant advantage. The owners understand the specific needs of fishermen—such as early morning departures and the importance of a hot shower after a long day in the waders—and they have designed the park to meet those needs perfectly.
Beyond the fishing, the campground is worth choosing for its value. It offers a level of personal attention that is rare in the industry. Regular guests often speak of booking years in advance because of the "welcoming atmosphere" and the sense of peace they find here. By choosing this park, you are not just getting a plot of land for the night; you are gaining access to a local knowledge base and a community that shares your love for the outdoors. For a family-friendly, angler-centric experience in Upstate New York, Salmon River Family Campground stands out as a premier choice for 2026 and beyond.

Customer Reviews
We were one of the first groups to stay in 2023 and we loved it so much we came back for 2024 and while we were there we booked for 2025.George was super helpful and had great communication with us and accommodated all our requests without hesitation. He set us up and had us ready for our amazing weekend. We choose to stay at salmon river family campground because of the welcoming atmosphere and the great location being close to the river. If you are coming to fish this is the place to stay!
George..George..where are you George?!?! I showed up at the time I told you, hung around a few, left & came back three more times knocking on the door but nobody was home! My phone service was spotty & we didn't connect but there was no camp spots left anyway. I seen the garden hose someone complained about, a few other bad reviews I should've considered but gave it a go.Business tip; run it like one. 👍
Stated that full water/septic and wifi would be set up soon after our arrival. We stayed 10 months out of the year agreement and the only thing we got was the workers repeatedly knocking on our door demanding that our camper be relocated to different spots on the campground. We left after 10 months with the agreement that we would be reimbursed for the 2 months that we did not stay due to the lack of previously stated amenities, that was almost a year ago and we are still waiting to be paid the remaining $890 and our attempts to contact the owner go unanswered. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
My boyfriend and I stayed at this campsite this weekend. I had an amazing time and the view was beautiful especially while laying underneath the clear skies looking at the stars. I will for sure be coming back sometime soon the owner was so sweet and he treats everyone like family :) he’s so happy and positive, he put a smile on our face and made us laugh!
My family has camped here 4 times and it was great. It was nice and peacful my kids had space to play and ride bikes George was always there to meet us and if we needed wood he always had some at the camp store it is a great place to camp and we will be going back
