Scenic View Campground Introduce

For those navigating the beautiful landscapes of Central New York in an RV, finding a destination that balances rustic charm with modern social amenities can be a challenge. Scenic View Campground, located in the rolling hills of West Winfield, has established itself as a premier choice for local travelers and long-term campers alike. Spanning over 100 acres of pristine woodlands, open meadows, and tranquil ponds, this facility offers a unique "hilltop" experience that emphasizes community, relaxation, and the natural splendor of Madison and Herkimer Counties. It is a place where the wide-open New York skies meet carefully maintained grounds, providing a perfect backdrop for a weekend getaway or a full season of adventure.

Since its development began a decade ago, Scenic View Campground has evolved from a quiet pond-side retreat into a full-service destination. It is particularly well-known for its vibrant atmosphere, largely anchored by its popular on-site dining and event space. Unlike many secluded parks where residents must travel miles for a meal, here the community gathers just steps from their RV pads. This blend of traditional camping and modern hospitality makes it a standout for New York residents who want the "great outdoors" experience without sacrificing the convenience of professional services and a friendly, local social scene.

Location and accessibility are major draws for this West Winfield gem. Situated at 386 Truax Road, the campground is easily reached via New York State Route 20, a historic corridor that connects many of the region’s most charming towns. Its central position makes it an ideal home base for exploring nearby attractions, including the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and the various state forests that define the Southern Tier and Central New York geography. The park is designed with inclusivity in mind, ensuring that the beauty of the grounds is accessible to all visitors through thoughtful infrastructure.

  • Conveniently located just off major regional routes for easy large-vehicle navigation.
  • Wheelchair-accessible entrance designed to accommodate all guests upon arrival.
  • Dedicated wheelchair-accessible parking lots located near the main office and restaurant.
  • Accessible restroom and shower facilities that meet modern standards for comfort and ease of use.
  • Spacious on-site parking for visitors and guests attending community events.
  • Proximity to local attractions like Beaver Creek State Forest and the Madison County Fairgrounds.

The services offered at Scenic View Campground reflect a commitment to a "turn-key" camping experience. Whether you are a seasonal resident or a first-time visitor, the management provides the essential infrastructure to make RV living seamless. Under current ownership, there has been a significant push to enhance the "family experience," ensuring that the park remains a stable and welcoming environment for all generations. From high-tech payment options to traditional camping essentials, the service model is built for the modern New Yorker.

  • Full-hookup RV sites featuring 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer.
  • On-site Bar & Grill serving hearty meals, rotating specials, and refreshments with panoramic hilltop views.
  • Professional event catering and rental services for weddings, reunions, and corporate gatherings in an 1,800-square-foot venue.
  • Secure payment processing accepting credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments for all transactions.
  • Well-maintained bathhouses and laundry facilities to support extended stays.
  • A dedicated camp store providing firewood, ice, and basic camping necessities.
  • Winter accessibility for snowmobiles, making it a year-round destination for local enthusiasts.

The features and highlights of Scenic View Campground are what truly set it apart from other regional parks. The 3.5-acre pond serves as a central focal point for recreation, offering quiet mornings of fishing or afternoons of paddling. For families, the park acts as a giant playground, with enough space for children to explore safely and for adults to enjoy the live entertainment frequently hosted at the Bar & Grill. The "scenic view" in the name is not just a marketing phrase; the elevation of the property provides stunning vistas of the surrounding countryside that are particularly breathtaking during the autumn foliage season.

  • One-acre and 3.5-acre ponds stocked for catch-and-release fishing and non-motorized boating.
  • A large, modern playground area that provides a safe space for children to play and socialize.
  • An expansive network of wooded hiking and walking trails perfect for nature observation.
  • The Hilltop Bar & Grill, featuring live music, outdoor seating, and a family-friendly atmosphere.
  • Large, grassy RV lots that provide more personal space than typical high-density parks.
  • Pet-friendly environment where dogs are welcome to join the family camping trip.
  • Themed weekends and community-focused events that bring neighbors together.

For more information or to inquire about seasonal lot availability, prospective campers are encouraged to contact the office directly. The staff can provide current rates and help you select a site that fits the size and requirements of your specific RV or trailer.

What makes Scenic View Campground worth choosing is its evolution into a true community hub. It is the ideal choice for those who value a social camping experience. If you enjoy ending your day of hiking or fishing with a professionally prepared dinner and a sunset view from a hilltop deck, this is the place for you. Recent transitions in ownership have brought a renewed focus on respecting resident agreements and enhancing the family-centric nature of the park, making it a reliable choice for those looking for a long-term summer home.

Furthermore, the park's commitment to maintaining clean, accessible, and modern facilities ensures a high standard of living that isn't always found in more rustic locations. Stayed last year. Every agreement with the owners were kept and respected . New owners came in and all our agreements were thrown out like we violated the campground rules . So we had to leave . Not pleased .

We had a fantastic stay at Scenic View Campground in Warren, NH, in June 2025, booking three site types: a standard tent site, an RV site with full electrical and water hookups, and a deluxe streamside cabin. The cabin was cozy, clean, and well-equipped with a full bathroom (shower only, no tub), sleeping up to five (max four adults), and featured heat for cooler evenings, making it ideal for our family of three. It backed up to a serene nature area along the brook, adding to the tranquil setting. The tent and RV sites, located adjacent to the Baker River, were highlights. The shallow, brook-like river was a safe, fun spot for our kids to play, with its gentle flow providing calming background noise at night. The campground is well-maintained, with clean facilities (bathrooms, showers, laundry, and portable toilets) and a warm, inviting pool. A small, clearly marked 10-minute nature trail on-site was perfect for early morning walks through the woods. The staff were friendly and engaging, offering great recommendations for nearby attractions like the Polar Caves, a short drive away.Pros include an easy online booking process with a detailed map of the grounds, allowing us to accurately choose multiple sites for our group. The customer service was accommodating, the atmosphere family-friendly, and the quiet hours reasonable. The campground offers diverse stay options (tent, RV, cabins), is easy to find, and has excellent bug control. However, check-in (late morning) and check-out (early morning) times felt restrictive, though remote/after-hours check-in until 8 PM was convenient. The coin-operated showers ($0.25 for 4 minutes) were a hassle despite generous timing. Additionally, the grounds aren’t ATV/dirtbike/SXS-friendly, with no off-road vehicles allowed inside. The staff permitted us to double-park our utility trailer and ATV outside, but noted this isn’t standard practice. More family-friendly activities would enhance the experience.Overall, Scenic View Campground is a great family-friendly spot in the White Mountains with scenic river views and excellent service. We’d return, but hope for more flexible check-in/out times, free hot showers, and additional activities.

The grounds are beautiful! Owner’s obviously take pride in their property. Appreciate the 11pm quiet hr. on the weekend. Sites are roomy with lots of grassy areas to walk dogs. And feeding the fish in the pond was entertaining for kids and adults! The restaurant was great. Large selection, and very reasonable prices. Only downside is that theres not a lot to do in the area.
