Located in the historic and scenic area of Berkeley Springs, this private campground spans over 50 acres of beautiful terrain at the confluence of Sleepy Creek and the majestic Potomac River. For West Virginians, this site represents a perfect blend of community spirit and natural serenity, offering a place where the mountain air meets the gentle flow of the river. Whether you are looking for a permanent seasonal home or a quick weekend escape, the campground provides an atmosphere that makes visitors feel like old friends from the moment they arrive.
The campground is uniquely positioned to cater to those who love water-based recreation and community-driven entertainment. With its private access to both the creek and the river, it serves as a premier hub for fishing, floating, and kayaking. Beyond the nature trails and water access, Sleepy Creek Family Campground is known for its vibrant social calendar, featuring local favorites like bingo nights, karaoke, and potluck dinners. It is a place where the traditional camping experience is elevated by modern conveniences and a management team that takes personal pride in guest satisfaction, ensuring that the grounds are well-maintained and the environment remains safe and family-oriented for all who enter its gates.
Location and accessibility are among the greatest advantages for those traveling within the Mountain State. Situated at 150 Joshua Ln, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411, the campground is easily reachable for residents of the Eastern Panhandle and beyond. It is also a convenient destination for visitors from neighboring regions, being approximately two hours from the Baltimore and Washington D.C. metro areas. This proximity makes it a popular choice for "staycations" where West Virginians can enjoy a complete change of pace without a grueling journey.
The entrance to the campground is designed to be accessible, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a parking lot to accommodate guests with varying mobility needs. Once on-site, the layout of the park is organized to facilitate both large RVs and traditional tent campers. On-site parking is plentiful, and the internal roads are maintained to ensure that even those with larger rigs can navigate to their designated lots with ease. Its closeness to the historic town of Berkeley Springs—America’s first spa town—means that guests are never far from local shops, world-class mineral springs, and additional dining options, providing the perfect balance between secluded camping and small-town convenience.

What makes Sleepy Creek Family Campground truly worth choosing is the personal touch and the deep sense of community that is often missing from larger, state-run facilities. In West Virginia, we value hospitality, and the owners here embody that spirit by treating every camper like family. Whether it’s getting a personal escort to your site or being invited to a community karaoke night, the social experience here is second to none. For families with children, the combination of a secure playground, kid-friendly activities, and the calm waters of the creek provides a worry-free environment where kids can truly be kids.
Furthermore, the value of the location cannot be overstated. Being able to set up camp directly by the river allows for a therapeutic experience where the sounds of the water provide a natural soundtrack to your stay. For the avid angler or the casual paddler, the immediate access to the Potomac River is a significant draw. When you choose Sleepy Creek, you aren't just renting a patch of grass; you are gaining access to a lifestyle of relaxation, outdoor adventure, and genuine friendship. It is this unique "homegrown" feel, combined with the stunning natural beauty of Morgan County, that brings families back to Sleepy Creek year after year.

My family wanted a quiet night by a river. I called on a Thursday asking to stay Friday and Saturday night. The owner answered and said yes! Come on over and we’ll set you up by the river. When we got there, they showed us where the site was, got us wood, and drove me in their cart to get ice. We went to bingo both nights, fished, sat at a fire, and sang along at karaoke. The owners make you feel like you’ve been friends for years and the seasonal campers were extremely friendly. Thank you to Sleepy Creek for the relaxing weekend! We can’t wait to come back.
Not a good place to take your family if you have young children. There's a shooting range that's not up to standards could be accidents. Happen to a young child. I don't think this would be a good place to bring your children.
Great place for the family and kids. The owners are super cool and they put on some good events.
We LOVE Sleepy Creek! We came to the Brokedown Float Down in '17 and had an amazing time listening to music and the hosts were just incredible! This year we came for the' 18 Spring Dig and it's even better! Tons of cool people and lots of great music. Thanks, Sleepy Creek!
