Stewarts Pond Campsites Introduce

Stewarts Pond Campsites is a storied family-owned destination that has been welcoming outdoor enthusiasts to the Southern Adirondack region since 1965. Located in the picturesque town of Hadley, New York, this campground offers a quintessential mountain experience where the scent of pine and the sound of rustling leaves replace the noise of everyday life. Whether you are a seasoned camper or a family looking for your first woodland adventure, Stewarts Pond provides a balanced environment of natural beauty and essential modern comforts. Spanning approximately 70 acres of lush, wooded terrain, the facility is designed to immerse visitors in the true spirit of Upstate New York while maintaining a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere.

For local New Yorkers seeking a retreat that is both secluded and accessible, this campground stands out as a top-tier choice. The property is managed with a personal touch by hosts who understand the needs of the modern traveler, often earning praise for their helpfulness and attention to site cleanliness. The campground is not just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV; it is a hub for recreation that centers around the five-mile reservoir known as Stewarts Pond. From quiet mornings on the water to lively evenings in the recreation hall, the experience here is tailored to create lasting memories across generations. The grounds cater to a variety of camping styles, from primitive tent sites for the traditionalist to full-hookup sites for those who prefer the conveniences of home on wheels.

The location of Stewarts Pond Campsites at 4405 S Shore Rd, Hadley, NY 12835, puts it in a strategic position for exploring the best of the Capital-Saratoga and Adirondack regions. It is nestled in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, providing a cooler, more refreshed climate during the peak of the New York summer. The campground is situated on the south shore of the Stewarts Pond reservoir, created by the Stewarts Dam. While the setting feels worlds away from the urban sprawl, it is only a short 20-minute drive from the historic city of Saratoga Springs, famous for its thoroughbred racing, mineral springs, and vibrant downtown shopping. This proximity allows guests to enjoy a quiet forest breakfast and a sophisticated afternoon in the city, all within the same day.

Accessibility is a priority at Stewarts Pond, ensuring that the joys of the Adirondacks are available to everyone. The facility includes a wheelchair accessible parking lot, and the main buildings are designed to be navigable for guests with mobility needs. For those driving from the south, the campground is easily reached via the Northway (I-87), taking Exit 18 through Glens Falls and Corinth. Visitors from the north can take Exit 21 through Lake Luzerne. The well-marked roads and clear signage make the journey into the woods as stress-free as the stay itself. Once on-site, the layout of the 60+ sites is organized to prevent overcrowding, ensuring that even during busy holiday weekends, the sense of privacy and "getting away" remains intact.

The services offered at Stewarts Pond Campsites are comprehensive, designed to make the camping experience as convenient as possible. The on-site camp store provides essential items like firewood and ice at reasonable prices, saving campers the trouble of leaving the grounds for basic supplies. One of the standout service features is the Recreation Hall, which serves as a communal hub and a refuge during inclement weather. It offers a space for guests to charge their devices, access the internet, and participate in organized activities like ice cream socials or potluck dinners. The management also provides seasonal site options for those who wish to make the Adirondacks their permanent summer home base.

For hikers, the proximity to Hadley Mountain provides a challenging trek with a rewarding fire tower view at the summit—a perfect day trip before returning to the camp for a hot shower. The recreation hall is packed with features like a pool table, air hockey, and foosball, ensuring that "bad weather days" are just as fun as the sunny ones. Additionally, the campground's pet-friendly policy means that well-behaved dogs can join in on the family vacation.

We found this place on a whim while checking out the area. Sarah and Dan were so helpful and such amazing hosts! The site was clean and quiet and even when it was busy we didn’t even notice others around us! We tent camped and I know if we come back to camp this will be our go-to spot! Showers were nice and clean and the “shop” items (wood/ice) were very reasonable and made it so easy! Lastly the “Rec Hall” was a perfect touch. WiFi to check out or stuff and also charge some items. Many tables to play games and just hangout during bad weather times!

My dad stumbled across this campground in 1965, the year they opened. We have been going there every summer since! I had the joy of growing up there and was thrilled that my children had the opportunity to grow up there too. The Byrons are like family that we have the privileged of seeing each summer. If you're looking for a great, back to nature, camping experience with your family, this is the place to go....we all call it our happy place!
