For New York families seeking a high-energy outdoor escape, Sunny Hill Campground in Bolivar stands as a premier destination that balances rustic charm with an impressive array of modern entertainment. Spanning over 250 acres in the scenic Chautauqua-Allegheny region, this campground is more than just a place to pitch a tent; it is a full-scale recreation hub designed to create lasting memories. From its vibrant summer concert series to its expansive trail network, Sunny Hill caters to a diverse community of "weekenders" and seasonal residents who value an active, social, and family-oriented camping culture. As a cornerstone of the Allegany County outdoor scene, the park is known for its friendly atmosphere and an owner who is deeply committed to the future growth and quality of the guest experience.
The spirit of Sunny Hill is defined by its unique blend of traditional camping and resort-style amenities. While the park is a favorite for those who enjoy the simplicity of a campfire under the stars, it truly shines during its event-filled weekends. The facility often hosts live music performances ranging from rock and country to bluegrass, turning the "hill" into a local cultural hotspot. For New Yorkers looking for a "home away from home" where the kids are perpetually entertained and the adults can relax by a heated pool or enjoy a wood-fired pizza, Sunny Hill provides a comprehensive vacation package that captures the best of Upstate New York’s summer season.
Located at 7856 Messer Hill Rd, Bolivar, NY 14715, USA, Sunny Hill Campground is tucked away in the rolling hills of the Southern Tier. Its location provides a perfect sense of seclusion while remaining accessible to residents from Buffalo, Rochester, and the surrounding Finger Lakes region. The drive to the campground takes visitors through some of the most beautiful rural landscapes in Allegany County, setting a tranquil tone before the excitement of the camp begins. The facility is designed to be inclusive and easy to navigate, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a dedicated wheelchair-accessible parking lot to ensure that every member of the family can enjoy the grounds comfortably.
Accessibility at Sunny Hill extends to the practical needs of various camping styles. The campground offers on-site parking for visitors and specialized pull-through sites for those navigating larger RVs. While the "weekender" section is popular and operates on a first-come, first-served basis, the layout encourages a neighborly environment where campers often pull in facing one another to create shared communal spaces. For those who want to explore the vast acreage without the legwork, golf cart rentals are available on-site, providing a fun and efficient way to traverse the hills from the pool to the concert stage. What truly makes Sunny Hill worth choosing is the sheer variety of entertainment and the "all-inclusive" feel of the activities provided. For many New York parents, the value of a campground is measured by how much there is for the children to do, and Sunny Hill excels in this category. Between the heated pool, the specialized "Thrill on the Hill" concert series, and the creative arts and crafts programs, the kids are guaranteed to stay engaged. The "Good for Kids" reputation is well-earned, as the owner frequently interacts with guests to ensure the family fun remains "classy" and respectful of everyone on the grounds.
Furthermore, for those who love the "UTV culture," Sunny Hill is a rare gem that provides the space and trails necessary to truly enjoy your machine. The ability to ride directly from your site to the trails adds a layer of adventure that standard campgrounds simply cannot match. For the more relaxed camper, the variety of on-site food—from sub sandwiches to brick-oven pizzas—means you can truly take a break from cooking and enjoy your vacation. Choosing Sunny Hill means choosing a vibrant, active community where the scenery is beautiful, the music is loud in the best way, and the memories of a New York summer will last a lifetime.
Would you like me to help you look up the specific concert dates for the upcoming "Thrill on the Hill" series or provide details on the UTV trail regulations at the park?

Just got back from a long weekend stay here as a weekender. As others have stated the weekenders area isn’t very big. It is first come first serve one of our 4 group members was able to save 4 spots in a row so that was nice. The spots are small though so if you’re going solo hopefully the people next door are cool. They allowed us to pull in facing each other so we had slightly more room but spots are still tight. We seemed to find the water pressure was a bit on the low side. We have a few friends with seasonal sites there so we did rent a golf cart to drive around and hang out with them. I could see this place being a blast if you have a side by side to ride the trails. The concerts that where preformed where very good! So if there was someone you wanted to see preform I would come back to see a show here. The new pool was very nice and well heated (it was on the cold side this weekend high of 70 during the day) pool was warm enough to enjoy with music playing by it. All the staff was very friendly, the kids activities where fantastic as well (the best arts and crafts of any campground we have been too). Owner even stopped and talked with us about the future goals for the place. Had food from every spot there coffee shop was good, ice cream stand had a nice selection, the sugar shack was open a bit later the one night so we got fried dough and Oreo both where very good. From the sunny side grill we got lots of different things and everything was good frys, subs pizzas. The wood fired grill was also very neat and good. The public restrooms (with showers) where near by and very clean (if your one of them people who won’t poop in your camper I’m sure this is convenient) over all prices for food and snacks I thought was very reasonable given some other campgrounds we have been too. I thought 100 a day on the golf cart was a little steep but if you really don’t need it if your going for the pool and bands. The dump station was conveniently located and clean with a water Spicket right there. You can tell the owner really cares and seems to have some bigger plans in mind. I would definitely come back BUT only with another camper so that the sites don’t stink as bad. The kids really enjoyed it as well.
The campground really caters to season campers vs weekenders. We made reservations months in advance, but didn’t realize that the sites are “first come first served”. We were told we would have sites together but they didn’t have two together left. They only have 17 weekend sites and while they are pull through and offer electric and water, the sites are super close together. We got stuck on the end and didn’t have a picnic table or a fire pit. None of the sites are numbered, no one takes you to the site, and it feels very disorganized and confused. The pool was great and we went for the band, which was good. Not sure if I would go back though.
It's a beautiful area and wonderful staff but it's more like a UTV park then a campground. Lots of things for kids but not much for adults to do and you need to have a UTV or golf cart to drive around area it's hard on vehicles and can't walk around there. this place is really for seasonal campers that like to get away and ride UTV
Nice place. Quiet during the week. Very nice pool and little store. Non seasonal sites have no shade, but are next to the pool.
This place is amazing....The owner and staff are hand down top notch....The people that camp here . Are the best and friendly....
