Located just minutes from the quaint, golf-cart-friendly town of Colonial Beach, this campground offers a peaceful retreat nestled among mature shade trees and scenic water views. As a versatile resort, it serves as an RV park, a children's camp, and a community recreation center, making it a hub for local travelers and cross-country adventurers alike. The professional staff and well-maintained grounds ensure a high-quality experience for those looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Potomac River region.

The resort is designed to cater to a wide variety of camping styles, with a primary focus on RV living. Whether you are a member of the Thousand Trails network or a guest looking for a one-time vacation spot, the park provides a welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you arrive, the emphasis on hospitality is clear, with rangers often escorting guests directly to their sites to ensure a stress-free setup. The park's layout maximizes the wooded landscape, providing most sites with ample shade—a vital feature during the warm Virginia summer months. With its combination of modern amenities and a quiet, "off the beaten path" feel, Harbor View has earned a reputation as one of the most beloved camping spots in the region.

Situated at 15 Harbor View Cir, Colonial Beach, VA 22443, the campground is strategically located for those who want to explore Virginia’s rich history. It is a short drive from significant landmarks such as George Washington’s Birthplace National Monument and Stratford Hall, the home of the Lee family. Accessibility is a priority at the resort, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances, parking lots, and restrooms. The entrance is designed to accommodate large rigs, with a spacious parking area in front of the main building that allows for easy U-turns and maneuvering. For local residents of Virginia, it offers an accessible escape that feels secluded without being unreachable, being approximately an hour and a half from both Richmond and Washington, D.C.

The facility is equipped to handle modern RV needs while maintaining the charm of traditional camping. Guests can expect professional onsite services including:

  • Full RV hookups including 30 and 50-amp electrical service and water connections.

When considering why Thousand Trails Harbor View is worth choosing, the answer lies in its unique balance of community and tranquility. It is one of the few places in the Northern Neck where you can find such a high density of amenities—like the 10-foot deep pool and mini-golf—while still feeling like you are deep in the quiet countryside. The park is notoriously "no-nonsense," meaning it is clean, quiet, and well-regulated, which appeals greatly to families and retirees looking for a peaceful night's sleep. The staff’s commitment to going the extra mile, such as escorting you to your site or calling ahead to warn about cold weather, demonstrates a level of care that is rare in larger resorts.

Furthermore, the location is unbeatable for history buffs and beach lovers. Being so close to Colonial Beach allows for easy day trips to the second-longest beachfront in Virginia, while the surrounding historical sites offer a "road schooling" experience for families with children. Choosing Harbor View means you are not just getting a place to park your RV; you are gaining access to a lifestyle that celebrates the best of Virginia's outdoors. Whether you are fishing in the ponds, playing a round of mini-golf, or just enjoying a picnic under the shade of mature oak trees, this campground provides a factual and friendly environment that lives up to its name.

This place has been absolutely amazing. Every host we've interacted with has been friendly, professional and helpful. The grounds are well kept and their facilities are top notch. We will be staying here again. Oh yeah our site was pretty much level when we backed in, we really only needed to put uor revelers down to stabilize our coach.

The best Thousand Trails camping side ever! So nice, clean, peaceful! Huge swimming pool (3ft to 10ft). Which my kids and I enjoyed the most. I was able to practice diving with them. Not crowded. People who work there are so nice, friendly and helpful. They answered every question we had. They took us to our campsite. We didn't have to be stressed out about which spot to take. They cut the grass around our camper. There's a large parking lot in front of the main building, making it easy for drivers of large RVs or campers to makeU-turns. The area is beautiful and quiet. There's a fishing pond, mini-golf, and a huge play area for kids. The main building has a laundry room, a pool table, and a TV. We are very pleased with our vacation and do not regret the time spent in Virginia.

Nice park, great staff, and very tranquil. It's near the water and surrounded by woodlands, but there are still plenty of shopping thirty to forty-five minutes away. Amazon can deliver within two days for items on hand.

The management here (Kathleen) and the campground puzzle master (Tami) go above and beyond. The campground is really nice and they will help you get backed in! Trust me. Tami is really great at it. The grounds crew stays on top of the falling leaves, too.
