Furthermore, its central location in the PA Dutch region means that visitors are only a half-hour drive from the chocolate-themed excitement of Hershey and the historic sights of Harrisburg. Accessing the park is straightforward for those driving larger rigs, though the interior roads maintain a rustic, narrow charm that encourages a slower pace once you have checked in.

Choosing the right campground can make or break a vacation, and Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country is worth choosing for several distinct reasons. First and foremost is its location. Very few parks offer such immediate proximity to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire while remaining nestled in a quiet, wooded environment. This makes it an ideal spot for those who want to experience the local culture without sacrificing the peace of a nature-focused retreat. The abundance of trees not only provides a beautiful aesthetic but also keeps the campsites significantly cooler during the humid Pennsylvania July and August days.
Furthermore, the variety of site types makes it accessible for everyone. While many parks focus solely on RVs, the inclusion of yurts and cottages means that even families without specialized equipment can experience the joys of the Lancaster County outdoors. The commitment to cleanliness, particularly in the bathhouses, is frequently noted by regular visitors, ensuring a comfortable experience for those using tent sites or rigs without internal facilities. For families, the combination of a pool, mini-golf, and a playground means the kids are always entertained, allowing the adults to relax and enjoy the "Dutch Country" pace of life.
It is worth noting for local visitors that the park is located near a local sportsman's club. While many guests enjoy the distant sounds of the region's active outdoor culture, those who prefer absolute silence should be aware of the nearby firing range. However, for most, the trade-off is well worth it for the opportunity to stay in a lush, green environment so close to the heart of Manheim's most famous attractions. Whether you are here for the history, the chocolate, or the knights and jesters, this campground provides a solid, factual, and friendly foundation for your Pennsylvania adventure.

WE stayed here for 2 week in early September in a 30' TT. We had a nice sized lot though there was a lot of slope front to back. There was room to park both vehicles, but the trees did drop sap on both cars that we are still trying to get off. Bathrooms were clean and well kept. There are a number of places to eat near by. There are two major draw backs, one the water has a lot of rust in it and smells. When we asked an employee about it they suggested Rust oleum rust remover for those places it showed. We added two different filters that helped but still had the issues. Luckily we had family near by so we could shower and wash clothes there. Second issue, is the gun range close by. If you don't mind hearing high caliber shooting every day all day long, then it won't be an issue. We didn't enjoy it so didn't spend much time outside which was too bad because the trees there are beautiful. A local that I talked to about the water, said yea the rust and smell are a problem, he just replaces the water filter every time he stays there and only stays for a weekend. Can't say this one is on our list to return to.
Great camp ground for the Pennsylvania Renn Faire.Though there is a firing range or something nearby, so if occasional distant gunshots freak you out might be an issue. No one in our party had an issue with it though. With our tents we appreciated the gravel setup to help with drainage so we weren't slopping around in the mud. Also they have these movable fire puts made from tire rims which work better than you'd think.
We came into town for the PA renaissance festival, and stayed at the tent sites for the weekend. The only really good part of the stay was having a sense of seclusion/privacy with the trees around us to separate us from the pool.We booked a few months in advance for two sites, and I made notes on both reservations that we were together. Thankfully I called a week before to double check. They originally had the two locations on opposite ends of the park. Even after calling, they still put us in a spot with a bunch of trees and thorny brush between the two sites. There was an open site next to us that would have been perfect. I know another party had a similar issue with their reservations and needed to walk even further between their sites. The worst part of the stay was that the tent sites are all on thick gravel. We bent/broke several stakes and needed a hammer to get them down into the ground. Sleeping on gravel was a nightmare even with several layers underneath. Its also a solid walk to the closest restroom, at the pool, which got annoying quickly.I'm sure this campsite must be pleasant for RVs, but I will not be coming back to camp.
We haven't stayed here since the 90's when our membership was under resorts usa. I am literally here cleaning our cabin. It's extremely dusty, porch covered in leaves, and the stove has something sticky dripping down the front of it. Why are we paying cabin fees or any fees and then cleaning the cabin to enjoy it. Mind you, we are here til Sunday. Horrible
The atmosphere was clean and well kept including the bathrooms . I never Went in ther and it was a mess . Always looked very clean . Free of trash everywhere. Everyone working ther was always so happy and helpful and so kind . The campsites had plenty of space and they had a cute gnome village and full of activities for all ages ! Ty ty ty for a great weekend !
