Tilden Hill Farm Introduce
For those seeking a departure from the typical commercial camping experience in the New York region, Tilden Hill Farm offers a refreshing and authentic alternative. Established as a family tradition that spans seven generations, this 155-acre working Black Angus cattle farm has evolved into a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts. It is not just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV; it is an immersive experience where the history of Central New York meets modern outdoor recreation. Whether you are a local resident looking for a weekend getaway or a traveler passing through on the way to Niagara Falls, the farm provides a serene backdrop of rolling pastures, lush forests, and a picturesque pond.
The atmosphere at Tilden Hill Farm is characterized by a friendly, "honor system" attitude that resonates deeply with visitors. As a historic retreat, the land has served many purposes since 1798, including a grist mill and a cheese factory, and that sense of heritage is palpable as you explore the grounds. Today, guests can enjoy the tranquility of watching cows roam the pastures while benefiting from updated facilities. The combination of agricultural life and recreational amenities makes it a standout choice for families, mountain bikers, and those simply looking to reconnect with nature in a quiet, well-managed setting.
Location and accessibility are among the farm's strongest suits. Situated at 5345 County Road 43 (also known locally as Townline Road) in Vernon, NY, the campground is centrally located and easily accessible from various major traveling routes in the Mohawk Valley. Its position makes it a convenient stopover for those traveling across the state, yet it remains far enough from the hustle and bustle to offer a true sense of seclusion. The entrance is well-marked, and the property features ample on-site parking, accommodating everything from small passenger vehicles to large 39-foot RVs with ease.
For outdoor adventurers, the location is a dream. The farm is located in a region rich with attractions, but the 155-acre property itself offers enough activity to keep guests occupied for days. The landscape is a mix of flat, open land perfect for soaking up the sun and dense, cooling woods that house some of the best-kept trail secrets in the area. With easy access to the surrounding Oneida County communities, visitors can enjoy the local charm of Vernon while having a peaceful home base to return to each evening.
The services offered at Tilden Hill Farm are designed to provide comfort without stripping away the "rustic" feel of a farm stay. One of the unique highlights is the self-serve farm market, where guests can purchase locally produced goods directly from the source. The management has invested in modernizing the essential facilities to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as it is scenic.
- Full RV hookups including 20, 30, and 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections.

One of the most significant draws is the extensive trail system that weaves through the woods and pastures. These trails are meticulously maintained and signed, providing a playground for various disciplines. Additionally, the presence of the farm's resident Black Angus cattle adds a unique charm that few other campgrounds can replicate.
- 12 miles of multi-use trails perfect for mountain biking, hiking, trail running, and cross-country skiing.
- A scenic pond where guests can enjoy fishing for bass, swimming, or taking out a canoe or rowboat for a quiet paddle.
- Breathtaking sunset views, particularly from the lean-to site and the cabin decks.
- A family-friendly environment where pets are welcome to enjoy the open spaces alongside their owners.
- The "Race the Farm" mountain bike course, which features wooden bridges and technical elements for enthusiasts.
- Educational opportunities to observe a working farm that has been in the same family since 1798.
- Spacious site layouts that offer significantly more room and privacy than traditional high-density RV parks.
If you are ready to experience this family tradition for yourself, you can contact the farm to check availability or make a reservation. The owners are known for their hospitality and are often available to share their favorite local spots or help you settle into your site. Whether you prefer a rugged tent experience or the comfort of a hotel-style cabin room, it is recommended to book in advance, especially during the peak summer months and during local mountain biking events.

Lovely place with a really nice atmosphere/attitude. A self serve store with frozen beef (from the farm), honey, jam, beer and a few other things you might have forgotten. Recycling in there too. The RV sites are on flat land, no trees so easy to park but gets hot. The sites in the woods seem to be drive in and are beautiful. The little pond is pretty too. Bathrooms were new and clean. Nice and easy place to stay for a couple nights.
Booked this spot through Hipcamp. Great place for a stopover to Niagara Falls. My dog loved it even more than us. Walked the MTB trails wishing I brought my bike. Liked it so much we decided to stop on our way home for a night also.
Easy RV access, less than 4 miles from 90 past a great gas station with convenience store. HUGE sites, bath house, dump station, W&E. 15 miles of walking trails. VERY friendly staff. Farm fresh meats. Very peaceful. A must.
