Trails End Campground Introduce
For Pennsylvania residents seeking a true retreat into the heart of the Pocono Mountains, Trails End Campground in Shohola stands as a premier destination for recreation, community, and natural beauty. This sprawling 400-acre haven is more than just a typical overnight stop; it is a vibrant recreational camping community—officially known as Trails End POA—that has been a cornerstone of Pike County since 1972. Nestled along the scenic Route 6 corridor, it offers locals a unique blend of rugged outdoor adventure and organized community amenities. Whether you are looking for a weekend "sanctuary" tucked away in the woods or a lively hub for summer family traditions, Trails End provides a versatile environment where the rustle of the pines meets a robust schedule of seasonal activities.
The spirit of the campground has been revitalized under new ownership, focusing on meticulously maintained grounds and modern comforts while preserving the peaceful atmosphere that longtime visitors cherish. For those living in the tri-state area, Trails End serves as a "home away from home" where you can transition from the hustle of city life to a quiet, wooded lot in a matter of hours. The community is designed primarily for RV and camper enthusiasts, emphasizing long-term enjoyment and a sense of neighborhood belonging. With a philosophy centered on being "Better for Having Been," the campground invites Pennsylvanians to immerse themselves in a setting where clean air, clean facilities, and friendly faces are the standard.
Location and accessibility are among the top draws for this Shohola destination. Situated at 105 Shohola Parkway South, the campground is strategically located just 14 miles east of Lake Wallenpaupack, the largest lake in the Poconos. For local travelers, this means easy access to over 52 miles of shoreline for boating and fishing, while still being able to return to the quiet seclusion of the Shohola forest. The park is conveniently positioned for those traveling from Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, or even across the border from New York and New Jersey, making it a central hub for regional explorers.
Accessibility within the park is a priority for the management. The community features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that the natural beauty of the Poconos is available to all guests. The roads within the 1,851-lot community are navigable for a variety of RV sizes, though the sites themselves are often praised for their "tucked away" feel. On-site parking is provided at the individual sites, allowing residents to keep their gear and vehicles close at hand. Its location near Shohola Falls also offers residents the chance to witness some of the region's most stunning waterfalls within a short drive or moderate hike.
The services offered at Trails End Campground are designed to facilitate a comfortable, long-term camping lifestyle. As a four-season community, the infrastructure is built to support visitors throughout the changing Pennsylvania seasons. From the high-energy "concession stand" days of July to the quiet, snow-dusted serenity of January, the staff is dedicated to maintaining a high standard of service. The cleanliness of the "comfort stations" or public restrooms is a frequent point of praise from local users, reflecting the park's commitment to quality sanitation.

What makes Trails End Campground worth choosing is the unique balance it strikes between a private sanctuary and a bustling social community. In the Poconos, it can be difficult to find a location that offers both the "quiet, peaceful atmosphere" of nature and the high-end amenities like a snack bar, pool, and bar. For Pennsylvania families, this means you can choose your own adventure: spend your morning on a secluded, kid-friendly hike discovering local flora and fauna, and your afternoon socializing at a community BBQ or poolside event. The transition to new ownership has only enhanced this value, with a renewed focus on keeping the experience "reasonably priced" and the environment friendly.
Ultimately, Trails End is worth choosing because it provides a reliable, safe, and engaging environment for multi-generational memories. The ability to customize your RV site with decks and screen rooms allows you to truly "own your piece of the outdoors." In a region known for its natural splendor, Trails End stands out as a place where the "people are friendly" and the "grounds are kept well," ensuring that every visit feels like a true escape from the ordinary. Whether you are there for the summer swim team or the winter peace, it remains a one-of-a-kind recreational haven in the heart of Pike County.
