Village of Greenport Mccann Introduce
For New Yorkers looking to trade the concrete jungle for the serene landscapes of the North Fork, the Village of Greenport McCann Campground serves as an ideal destination. Located in the historic maritime village of Greenport, this municipal campground offers a rustic yet well-maintained environment that captures the slow-paced charm of Long Island’s coastal countryside. Whether you are an experienced RVer or a family looking to pitch a tent for the weekend, McCann Campground provides a welcoming home base for exploring local vineyards, historic sites, and the sparkling waters of the Peconic Bay and Long Island Sound.
The campground is designed to cater to a variety of camping styles while maintaining a quiet and respectful atmosphere. It is particularly favored by those who enjoy the "old-school" camping experience—where the focus is on nature, community, and relaxation. Local residents from across the state often choose this spot for its proximity to downtown Greenport, which is widely considered one of the most vibrant and walkable villages on Long Island. Staying here allows you to enjoy the tranquility of the woods at night while being just minutes away from world-class dining and boutique shopping during the day.
Location and accessibility are among the strongest suits of the Village of Greenport McCann Campground. Situated at 2600 Moores Lane, the property is easily reached by car via the Long Island Expressway (I-495) or the scenic Route 48. For those who prefer public transit, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) provides service to the Greenport station, followed by a short taxi or rideshare to the grounds. The campground itself is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking facilities to ensure that all visitors can enjoy the great outdoors without barriers.
The layout of the campground is flat and easy to navigate, with a mix of shaded and open grass sites. Its position on Moores Lane puts it within a half-mile of critical local intersections, making it convenient for those who want to venture out to nearby North Fork attractions. Visitors often remark on the beautiful scenery leading to the location, which includes a patchwork of sprawling farms and award-winning wineries. This ease of access makes it a popular choice for "staycations" for New York families and a reliable stop for travelers touring the East End.

Alex loves camping here I heard! With grilling his oysters and crackers!
I am not used to camping but I loved this place so much. Quite and so close to the village. It is a little paradise in the nature. A lot of private space, and the manager Lisa is super kind and helpful in so so so many ways.. The only thing I did not like is seeing some huge dogs around that sometimes escape from their owners. Not sure how they could be better managed. Besides that, I am happy I went and I will go back for sure!
Great small campground on the North Fork. Lisa is knowledgable and helpful and seemingly available 24/7. It's a great spot to set up and branch out into the area. Not a whole lot to do on-site.
The help and kindness here is unsurprised . I am about to embark on my 2025 adventure and I hope you understand a non partisan place to be relaxed and happy here!
