Cliff and Ed's Campground Introduce
For residents of the New York metropolitan area and the surrounding boroughs, finding a tranquil escape that doesn’t require a cross-country trek is a frequent priority. Cliff and Ed's Campground, located in the picturesque hamlet of Cutchogue on Long Island’s North Fork, serves as a premier destination for those who value peace, cleanliness, and proximity to the region's finest attractions. This family-owned and operated facility has built a reputation among local campers as a refined alternative to larger, more crowded commercial sites. Known for its meticulously maintained grounds and exceptionally friendly management, it provides an intimate setting where guests can truly unwind amidst the agricultural and coastal beauty of Eastern Long Island.
The atmosphere at Cliff and Ed's Campground is tailored toward a quiet, respectful camping experience. Unlike many high-activity resorts that focus on loud entertainment, this campground caters to those who appreciate the "slow life." It is a favorite for couples embarking on winery tours, retirees enjoying the seasonal breeze, and families who prefer a safe, secure environment for their children. The property is often described by regular visitors as a "hidden gem" where the host, George, and the staff treat every guest like a neighbor. Whether you are arriving for a quick weekend of wine tasting or planning an extended seasonal stay, the welcoming vibe of this Cutchogue landmark ensures a stress-free transition from the city’s concrete to the North Fork’s greenery.
Location and accessibility are two of the strongest selling points for Cliff and Ed's Campground. Situated at 395 Schoolhouse Rd, Cutchogue, NY 11935, the park is positioned in the heart of what many locals call "The Sunniest Place in New York." For those driving from New York City or Western Long Island, the park is easily reachable via the Long Island Expressway (I-495) to Exit 73, then continuing east on Route 25. The final approach through Cutchogue’s winding roads takes you past historic farm stands and lush vineyards, setting the tone for your stay. Its central location on the North Fork means that within a ten-minute drive, guests can reach the pristine beaches of the Peconic Bay or the Sound, as well as the vibrant shops and restaurants of neighboring Greenport and Mattituck.
Accessibility within the park itself is also a priority. The grounds are designed with level, paved pads that make setting up an RV a simple task, even for those with larger "big rig" units. The facility features wheelchair-accessible parking and restroom access, ensuring that all visitors can enjoy the amenities without barrier. The layout of the park is intuitive, with wide enough paths to accommodate easy maneuvering of trailers and motorhomes. This focus on ease of access makes it a top choice for seasoned travelers who want to spend less time on logistics and more time exploring the local culture.
The services offered at Cliff and Ed's Campground are designed to provide a "full hookup" experience that meets modern standards of comfort. While the park maintains a rustic, local feel, it does not skimp on the technical requirements of today's RVers. The owners have invested in high-quality infrastructure to ensure that every site is reliable and convenient. Guests can expect the following services during their stay:
- Full RV hookups at all 24 sites, including water, sewer, and high-quality electrical service (20, 30, and 50 amp options).
- Meticulously cleaned and modern bathroom facilities featuring hot showers that are frequently praised in guest reviews.
- On-site laundry room equipped with washers and dryers for the convenience of extended-stay or seasonal guests.
- Access to Optimum Cable TV and satellite dish compatibility (available by subscription) to keep guests connected to their favorite programs.
- High-speed Wi-Fi available throughout the grounds, allowing for remote work or streaming during quiet evenings.
- Professional on-site management that provides check-ins and assistance, ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all.
- Seasonal stay opportunities, allowing local residents to keep their trailers on-site from April through October for frequent weekend getaways.
The features and highlights of this campground go beyond the standard utility hookups. The true value of Cliff and Ed's lies in its integration with the North Fork lifestyle and the thoughtful touches added by the owners. When staying here, you are not just in a parking spot; you are in the center of a world-class culinary and viticultural region. Some of the most notable highlights include:
- Proximity to over a dozen prestigious wineries, including Castello di Borghese, Peconic Bay Vineyards, and Pellegrini Vineyards, many of which are within biking distance.
- Level pads with paver stones at each site, preventing the mud and uneven footing often found at other campgrounds.
- A quiet, "no tent" policy that ensures the park remains geared toward RV enthusiasts, maintaining a consistent and professional aesthetic.
- Excellent nearby recreational options, including professional-grade golf courses and local fishing charters.
- Close proximity to the Cutchogue Green Historic Buildings and local artisan shops like Disset Chocolate for a taste of local history and sweets.
- A family-friendly and pet-friendly atmosphere (with minor restrictions), making it a suitable choice for those who don't want to leave their dogs behind.
- Highly rated "Good Sam" standards for cleanliness and environmental quality, ensuring a pristine stay every time.
For those interested in booking a site or inquiring about seasonal availability for the upcoming spring and summer months, reaching out directly to the owners is recommended. Because the park is a boutique facility with limited sites, early planning is essential, particularly for peak winery tour dates in the autumn. Contact details are as follows:

When considering where to spend your leisure time on Long Island, Cliff and Ed's Campground is worth choosing because it represents the authentic spirit of the North Fork. While state parks offer expansive grounds, they often lack the personal touch and high-level maintenance found at a family-run site like this one. Choosing this campground means you have a direct line to the owner, George, who is known for his hospitality and willingness to go the extra mile for his guests—even opening facilities early for those with advanced planning. The peace of mind that comes from staying in a "safe and friendly environment" where the bathrooms are spotless and the neighbors are respectful is invaluable.
Furthermore, the park is worth choosing for its strategic location. It serves as a perfect hub for the "North Fork Winery Tour" experience without the need for long commutes. You can enjoy the best of the local vineyards during the day and return to a quiet, level, and well-equipped site in the evening. For New York residents looking for a repeatable, high-quality escape that feels like a private club for RVers, Cliff and Ed's is the premier choice. It offers the rare combination of coastal access, agricultural charm, and modern amenities that define the best of Long Island camping.
In summary, Cliff and Ed's Campground stands as a cornerstone of the Cutchogue community. It provides a clean, professional, and intimate setting for travelers to explore the wonders of the North Fork. By prioritizing the guest experience and maintaining a high standard of service, it ensures that every visitor leaves looking forward to their next return trip to Schoolhouse Road.

Experienced the pleasure of a 3 day winery tour back in mid April of this year and stayed at Cliff and Eds. With a little advanced planning George, the host and owner greeted my wife and I upon our arrival. He made an exemption and opened his facilities early for us since it was out of Season. Great location, perfect trailer pads and check out the bathrooms. George checked in on us over the long weekend a few times . Looking forward to next Spring's return.
