Waubeeka Family Campground Introduce

Waubeeka Family Campground serves as a premier destination for families seeking a vibrant outdoor experience in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Nestled on 150 acres of pristine wooded landscape, this campground is much more than a simple place to pitch a tent or park an RV. It is a full-scale vacation resort designed to create lasting memories through a combination of natural beauty and an exhaustive list of recreational activities. Located at the gateway to the Berkshires, Waubeeka offers a unique dual-lake experience, with one lake dedicated to cooling off at the sandy swimming beach and another specifically managed for peaceful fishing excursions.

For New York residents looking for a local escape, Waubeeka provides a professional and friendly atmosphere where the staff is frequently praised for their helpfulness and dedication to guest satisfaction. The campground successfully balances the "old school" charm of traditional camping—complete with evening bonfires and nature walks—with modern amenities like high-speed Wi-Fi and themed weekend events. Whether you are a seasonal camper who calls this place home all summer or a weekend traveler exploring the region for the first time, the park offers a welcoming community spirit that is hard to find elsewhere.

Location and accessibility are standout features for those traveling within the tri-state area. Situated at 133 Farm Rd in Copake, NY, the campground is strategically positioned near the borders of Massachusetts and Connecticut. For local New Yorkers, it is approximately a 55-minute drive south of Albany and about two and a half hours north of New York City, making it a highly feasible weekend getaway. The facility is designed with inclusivity in mind, providing wheelchair-accessible entrances, parking lots, and restrooms to ensure all family members can enjoy the grounds comfortably. Its proximity to major local attractions like Taconic State Park and the stunning Bash Bish Falls adds another layer of value for those who enjoy exploring the broader regional landscape.

Navigating to the park is straightforward via Route 22, a scenic corridor that showcases the rolling hills of Columbia County. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by well-maintained interior roads and a registration process that is both efficient and thorough. The campground's layout is thoughtfully organized into various sections, including spacious RV loops, private tent circles, and a range of cabin rentals. This organization allows for a social atmosphere near the main activity hubs while preserving the quiet, wooded feel that makes camping in the Hudson Valley so special.

  • Full hookup RV sites featuring 20, 30, and 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections.
  • A diverse range of cabin rentals, from rustic options for pet owners to deluxe units with full kitchens and air conditioning.
  • On-site camp store stocked with groceries, camping essentials, ice, firewood, and souvenir items.
  • Comprehensive laundry facilities and modern, clean bathhouses with hot showers maintained daily.
  • Complimentary basic Wi-Fi and cable TV access at RV sites to keep you connected while unplugged.
  • Watercraft rentals including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and pedal boats for use on the two on-site lakes.
  • Planned social activities such as themed weekends, kids' craft clubs, bingo, and live DJ or band performances on Saturday nights.
  • On-site emergency maintenance support to assist with minor plumbing or mechanical issues for campers.

The highlights of Waubeeka Family Campground revolve around its "fun-first" philosophy. The property is a paradise for children, featuring a massive playground, a giant jumping pillow, a foam pit, and an inflatable water slide. The "N.E.S.T." (Nature, Ecology, Science, and Technology) programs often provide educational entertainment, while the more traditional amenities like mini-golf, basketball, and pickleball courts offer competitive fun for all ages. For those who travel with four-legged family members, the dedicated dog park provides a safe, off-leash area for pets to burn off energy.

  • Two private lakes: Shaver Pond for fishing and a separate lake with a sandy beach and water slide for swimming.
  • Extensive trail system over a mile long, perfect for hiking, biking, and observing local wildlife.
  • Gaga ball pits, giant chess, and an indoor arcade for entertainment regardless of the weather.
  • Themed weekends that range from charity fundraisers to holiday celebrations, fostering a strong community bond.
  • Spacious, wooded campsites that offer a sense of privacy even during busy holiday weekends.
  • Equestrian-friendly history and proximity to the Berkshires' cultural landmarks and hiking summits.
  • Saturday night bonfires and dances that serve as a weekly highlight for both adults and children.

To plan your stay or inquire about seasonal rates, the Waubeeka office is available throughout the camping season. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for holiday weekends which typically require a three-night minimum stay. The professional management team can be reached via their toll-free number or local line to discuss site availability and specific cabin features.

What is worth choosing when it comes to Waubeeka is the sheer variety of experiences packaged into one location. It is rare to find a campground that can successfully cater to a quiet fisherman in the morning and a lively dance crowd in the evening. For the New York family, this versatility means that everyone from toddlers to grandparents will find something to enjoy. Choosing Waubeeka means choosing a vacation where the logistics are handled—from the clean bathrooms to the on-site store—so you can focus entirely on the experience of being together in nature.

Furthermore, the value of the "all-access" activities makes it an economical choice for families. Once you have paid your camping fee, the majority of the activities—from the jumping pillow to the hiking trails—are included at no extra cost. This allows for a "yes" environment where kids can jump from the playground to the craft club without parents needing to worry about additional fees. The dedication to charity and local community fundraisers also gives the park a heart that many commercial resorts lack. For a reliable, high-energy, and genuinely friendly New York camping experience, Waubeeka Family Campground remains a top-tier selection year after year.

Great Campground! The staff is fantastic, RV sites are spacious, cabins are superb with many options from a couple to a large family. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained and tons of activities for the kids like a playground area, crafts, bingo, swimming lake, fishing pond, pedal bikes, foam pit, inflatables, hayrides and boat rentals. Adults can enjoy the late nights at the bonfire and dance it up with the live DJ or band every Saturday night. Great theme weekends and campground fundraisers to help local charities. Waubeeka is a family favorite!

Nice place! We did a 4 day 3 night week day trip. The staff are very nice and helpful! We had a minor plumbing issue and they were there in a heartbeat to help us as if we knew them for years. Only thing to know is that the place is more of a weekend place than week day. Activities and things to do were limited because no one is really there during the week. They were still very accommodating and the kids had a blast. The sites were nice, clean and roomy.

Visited this past weekend with my son for the first time. We stayed in our RV. This campground is in a beautiful area of New York State and convenient to get to from downstate. The campground was very accommodating with great customer service and fast communication. The site was clean and well maintained. The best part is how friendly everyone is. Not just the staff but the other campers are super friendly. Very family friendly atmosphere. They enforce the 5mph speed limit which is super important when you have a 3 year old riding their bicycle around. Easy to dump garbage, clean bathrooms, well maintained facilities. What else can you ask for. I’ll definitely be returning!

This is a very nice campground. Clean, good service. Amenities include water activities and a cute dog park. Very peaceful campground with nice group of campers. Alot of season long residents. I stayed with someone but their rental cabins looked nice and you can rent a golf cart.

We stayed here during 4th of July weekend, I will say staff is very nice and helpful. They have a lotOf activities going on for adults and kids. My complaints are the crowded sites and sewer hook up is not sloped well I had issues even with my supports as did the sites around me. They have a lot of wood boards, pallets, and construction materials just laying around by the maintenance shed which is not appealing. There is also a lot of dust that gets on your stuff from the golf carts driving around all day.
