What is worth choosing about Wolf Den Campground is the rare combination of historical significance and high-quality maintenance. For those living in Connecticut, it is worth choosing because it offers a "local" vacation that feels worlds away from the urban corridor. The park’s commitment to keeping its facilities clean—specifically the updated restrooms and showers—removes the common stresses often associated with rustic camping. Furthermore, the size of the lots is a significant draw; many campers note that they don't feel "packed in," allowing for a sense of privacy that is becoming harder to find in popular New England destinations.

The value of the experience is also found in the educational opportunities for children. With kid-friendly hikes that lead to real-life historic sites, it is an excellent choice for families looking to combine physical activity with local history. Choosing Wolf Den Campground also means choosing a site that is meticulously managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), ensuring that the natural environment is preserved for future generations. Whether you are a solo hiker looking for a base camp or a family seeking a summer tradition, Wolf Den provides a dependable, beautiful, and culturally rich environment that represents the very best of Connecticut’s outdoor offerings.

I'd like to give this place 0 to keep it secret, but I can't. The sites are all open with some trees around. Good for tent or RV camping. There are no hookups as far as I know, but I tent camp. There is a washroom building with a shower and dish washing station.

My family camped here allot when I was younger. We really enjoyed this campground. The campsites are nice and grassy (good soft grass, not the gross stuff), the property is well taken care of and landscaped. It's not too cramped, every site gets a good amount of room and parking. It's field camping but there are enough trees to make it comfortable. It's usually very quiet, rules are enforced. Plenty of room to run around in the field to play games or stargaze at night. The bath house is generic and gets the job done, no frills, no complaints. Just an overall great campground.
