Bear Claw Campground Introduce
For residents of Pennsylvania who feel the call of the wild, Bear Claw Campground in Marienville serves as an authentic gateway to one of the state's most magnificent natural treasures: the Allegheny National Forest. Nestled in Forest County, this campground is a favorite for local outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate a peaceful, no-frills environment where nature takes center stage. Whether you are a dedicated hunter, a weekend hiker, or a family looking to unplug from the digital world, Bear Claw offers a "cute" and manageable setting that captures the rugged spirit of the Pennsylvania wilds. It is a place where the air is crisp, the nights are dark enough for spectacular stargazing, and the pace of life slows down to the speed of a crackling campfire.
The atmosphere at Bear Claw Campground is best described as tranquil and intimate. Unlike the massive, high-traffic commercial resorts found in other parts of the state, this facility maintains a smaller footprint that emphasizes privacy and relaxation. It is a community-oriented space where neighbors greet each other, yet there is plenty of room to enjoy the solitude of the woods. Local visitors often remark on the peacefulness of the grounds, making it an ideal choice for those who want to hear the sounds of local wildlife rather than the hum of highway traffic. True to its name, the area is known for its biodiversity; while sightings aren't guaranteed, the presence of deer, various bird species, and the occasional black bear adds an element of excitement to every stay.
Location and accessibility are primary draws for this Marienville destination. Situated at 3408 Loleta Rd, Marienville, PA 16239, the campground is perfectly positioned for those who wish to explore the nearby Loleta Recreation Area and the vast trail networks of the Allegheny National Forest. The property is designed to be inclusive, offering a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot to ensure that all members of the family can enjoy the outdoor experience. For those navigating the winding roads of Forest County, the on-site parking at Bear Claw is convenient and easy to access. Its location on Loleta Road means that campers are just a short drive away from some of the best fishing, foraging, and sightseeing opportunities in Western Pennsylvania.

What is worth choosing about Bear Claw Campground is the genuine sense of escape it provides. In an era where many campgrounds feel like crowded parking lots, Bear Claw retains a "small campground" charm that is increasingly hard to find. It is worth choosing because it respects the "Peace and Quiet" that Pennsylvania campers value most. The fact that the shower and restroom facilities are accessible year-round makes it a reliable home base for hunters and winter hikers who visit the Marienville area outside of the peak summer season. Furthermore, the playground and kid-friendly layout ensure that parents can relax while their children enjoy the freedom of a safe, outdoor space.
Finally, for those who love the Allegheny National Forest, Bear Claw offers a perfect balance. You are close enough to the action to enjoy all the recreational activities the forest has to offer, yet far enough away to return to a quiet, private lot at the end of the day. Whether you are staying for a weekend of peaceful reflection or a week of outdoor exploration, Bear Claw Campground provides the essential amenities and the perfect location to make your Forest County trip a success. It is a simple, beautiful, and highly recommended slice of Pennsylvania’s great outdoors.

Small campground for trailers with water and electric hookups, dont drink the water. Water gets shut off for the cold season but there is a building to shower/potty in 24/7/365. Supposedly Bear, but I haven't seen any yet, im sure I eventually will, tho 😉 lots of cool wildlife!
We enjoyed our weekend. It was so peaceful and a really cute campground. Definitely will go back.
Fantastic place to camp. if you have a tent you pick a good spot and they bring the fire ring, staff is friendly and very helpful won't hesitate to help you if you need it, definitely will be camping there again.
This is a small quiet little place truth be told I thought it was a little sketchy looking at first but it turned out to be a very quiet convenient affordable in safe place to stay for a couple of days. We have two dogs I did not see any dogs off leads I also did not see loudness or anything it was quiet and peaceful. May not be a five-star resort but it was definitely convenient for our stay. I don't believe they have cable I believe it's more of a permanent resident place but will accommodate passes through of course. Owners were extremely nice courteous and go out of their way to help you. We go once a year to visit my dad this was very convenient and we will definitely be staying there each year.
