Blue Mountain Campground Introduce
For residents of the New York metropolitan area and the Hudson Valley, Blue Mountain Campground serves as a premier destination for those seeking an authentic outdoor experience without straying too far from home. Situated at the base of the majestic Catskill Mountains in Saugerties, this family-owned and operated facility provides a bridge between the convenience of modern amenities and the raw beauty of the New York wilderness. Whether you are a weekend warrior looking for a quick escape from the city or a seasonal traveler seeking a long-term mountain retreat, the campground's strategic location near the border of Ulster and Greene Counties offers a perfect home base for exploring the region's diverse natural and cultural attractions.
Blue Mountain Campground distinguishes itself as a rare four-season destination in a region where many facilities close for the winter. This commitment to year-round service makes it a favorite for winter sports enthusiasts heading to nearby Hunter or Belleayre Mountains. The grounds are thoughtfully laid out across more than 10 acres of forested terrain, providing a variety of environments ranging from sun-drenched clearings to deeply shaded wooded sites. The atmosphere is professional yet welcoming, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and order that reflects its legacy as a cherished local business. From the smell of woodsmoke in the autumn air to the lush greenery of mid-summer, the park offers a rotating gallery of New York's finest seasonal displays.
Location and accessibility are among the park's greatest strengths, particularly for those coming from the south. Located at 3783 NY-32, the campground is just five miles north of Exit 20 on the New York State Thruway (I-87). This proximity makes it remarkably easy to navigate for large RV rigs and towing vehicles. Its central location puts visitors within minutes of the historic village of Saugerties, the legendary artistic community of Woodstock, and the bustling city of Kingston. For those relying on accessibility features, the park provides a wheelchair-accessible parking lot and restroom facilities, ensuring that the beauty of the Catskills is inclusive for all guests. On-site parking is plentiful, and the internal roads are well-maintained to accommodate various vehicle sizes.
The services offered at Blue Mountain Campground are comprehensive, catering to a wide array of camping styles and needs. Beyond traditional site rentals, the facility functions as a local hub for essential services, including a professional propane fill station that serves both campers and local residents. The management emphasizes "onsite services" to ensure guests spend less time running errands and more time enjoying the forest. The presence of a fully stocked camp store means that forgotten necessities—from s'more supplies to hardware—are always within reach. For RV travelers, the park is particularly well-equipped with modern infrastructure designed to handle even the largest contemporary motorhomes.

The features and highlights of Blue Mountain Campground extend far beyond its physical borders, though the on-site amenities are impressive in their own right. The park's new outdoor pavilion serves as a social center, frequently hosting movie nights and community events during the warmer months. Nature lovers will appreciate the direct access to hiking, biking, and climbing trails that spiderweb through the Catskill Preserve. The facility is also dog-friendly, recognizing that for many New Yorkers, a trip to the mountains isn't complete without their four-legged companions. What is worth choosing about Blue Mountain Campground is its unwavering reliability as a cornerstone of Hudson Valley outdoor life. It is worth choosing for the traveler who wants the "best of both worlds"—the peace of a wooded campsite with the security of high-speed Wi-Fi and clean, heated bathrooms. It is also an excellent choice for city residents who need a quick, accessible escape that offers a genuine change of pace. The presence of the "faux fireplaces" in the cabins and the year-round RV hookups demonstrate a level of thoughtfulness toward guest comfort that is often missing from larger, more corporate parks. If you are looking for a place where the grass is always mowed, the staff knows your name, and the mountains are your backyard, Blue Mountain Campground is the ideal Saugerties destination.
In conclusion, a trip to Blue Mountain Campground is more than just a place to park a rig or pitch a tent; it is an invitation to join a community of outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate the unique character of the Catskills. The facility’s balance of rustic charm and professional utility ensures that whether you are staying for a weekend of leaf-peeping in October or three months of winter work, your needs will be met with care. As the sun sets behind the mountains and the campfire begins to glow, you'll understand why so many New York families have made this their preferred mountain retreat for generations. Customer Reviews
We had a great camping trip at Blue Mountain Campground. Coming from the city, traffic was worse than we had anticipated so we barely arrived on time for 8pm check in but everything worked out. I wished we had left the city earlier so we could have explored more. We stayed for 2 nights over the weekend in Cabin 5. It was perfect for us as a couple. We slept on the bottom double bed and used the top bunk for storage. We went in the middle of October and the cabin was warm and equipped with a faux fireplace that kept us warm. We also had a mini fridge for our food. We bought wood from the campground and enjoyed s'mores but we got rained on so only lasted about an hour. Bathrooms were clean & what you'd expect from a campground. We will definitely be back!
I stayed here 3 months while I was working and this campground was one of the best I’ve stayed at in my 15 years of travel. Tho owners are very nice and accommodating. Bathrooms always clean. Grass is kept mowed. They have a store on site that has all the necessities you might have forgotten or ended up needing. They fill propane onsite which is a huge convenience as well.
I love it! Beautiful, clean, very inviting. It’s a nice quiet experience. There’s a pool, playground and game room fit the kids. Laundry mat with good prices. A pavilion perfect for get togethers. A good wholesome family environment
This was a great campground for memorial day weekend! We used a tent(actual camping), so my review may not be suitable for RVs. The facilities were very well maintained and clean. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and overall delightful. The mountain scenery can't be beat. Woodstock is 10 minutes up the road, and amazing hikes throughout the catskills. They weren't overly strict, and as long as your respectful of those around you, you're good to go. Would definitely return here for our next round in the Catskills!
This campground is in a great location for accessing some amazing hikes and conveniently located near the thruway, so it is particularly great for a late afternoon/evening arrival in the Catskills. We tent camped. All the sites were very clean and well maintained. Some sites were great, with really nice flat areas for a tent, while others were not as great for tents (not as level, rocky, roots). The bathrooms were clean. Some people may not like that there are a lot of RVs and many seem to be there on a more permanent basis. But, overall, we had a great experience and would return!
