The views were nice but the camp site was very trashy and not taking care of. The bath house was so nasty we didn’t even want to shower in there. There is no camp store so you have to go off site to get wood or ice. The place just seemed very run down. I definitely don’t recommend swimming in the water either as it smells so bad.
This park is closed, and I mean entirely closed off to the public, despite being a public park. It is only of the only access points to the bay within an hour of here, but we arrived and found it fenced off and the gates locked. We just wanted to stretch our legs and walk on the beach but could not do so. What a waste of a beautiful spot, and how ugly to see it fenced off with chain link fence and gates. It is a shame this area remains so egalitarian and hostile to the public despite being developed and protected with public money. See pictures for the signs with hours and restrictions.
Camping at Breezy Point. So many hazards. The netted swimming area of the beach has stinging sea nettles. There are remnants of old creosoted jetties on the beach and hidden under water. They are left unmarked. If the children survive this, then there are the sharp screw hazards awaiting them at the toy bin.. The patio blocks in front of the restrooms are a night time tripping risk. These maintenance deficiencies are ignored, but the grass does get cut..
Since they redid the beach, some of the sites have planks you need to park on instead of gravel. There is incredibly limited space to maneuver even a small camper on to them. Aside from that I don't really have any complaints. Don't come here to look for shark teeth, but that's not something they can help.
It’s not the ocean but pretty solid beach not far from DC. Way better than sandy point! No jellyfish (net keeps them out I think). It was $24 for two of us in one car. Good for families. There’s a playground and good bathrooms and showers. I’d come back with kids.
