Camp Bell Campground Introduce

Camp Bell Campground serves as a welcoming gateway to the world-renowned Finger Lakes region of New York. Located in the charming town of Campbell, this family-owned and operated facility provides a quintessential camping experience that balances rustic charm with modern convenience. For local residents and travelers traversing the Southern Tier, Camp Bell has become a trusted name for outdoor recreation. The campground is particularly noted for its scenic setting, surrounded by the rolling hills and lush landscapes that define this part of the state. Whether you are seeking a weekend retreat with the family or a long-term seasonal home, the park offers a versatile environment designed to help you reconnect with nature without sacrificing essential comforts.

In recent seasons, Camp Bell Campground has undergone significant revitalizations under new leadership. Frequent visitors and long-time seasonal campers have praised the fresh energy brought by the management team, noting a "brightening up" of the facilities and a renewed focus on family-centric improvements. The atmosphere is distinctly community-oriented, where a friendly "hello" from the owners, Rosemary and Geno, is standard. This personal touch, combined with a commitment to maintaining clean and updated amenities, has solidified the park's reputation as a top-tier choice for those exploring the attractions of Steuben County. From meticulously manicured grounds to a robust schedule of planned activities, the campground is designed to be more than just a place to park—it is a destination where memories are made.

Location and accessibility are among the campground's greatest strengths, especially for New Yorkers traveling via major regional arteries. Situated at 8700 NY-415, the park is conveniently positioned just one mile off I-86 (Route 17) at Exit 41. This strategic location makes it incredibly easy for large RVs and trailers to navigate to the site without dealing with overly complex backroads. Furthermore, the campground is a mere 10-mile drive from the world-famous Corning Museum of Glass and roughly 20 minutes from the Watkins Glen International raceway. Accessibility is also prioritized on-site, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, and dedicated restroom facilities ensuring that the Finger Lakes outdoors are available to every guest regardless of mobility.

  • Physical Address: 8700 NY-415, Campbell, NY 14821, USA.
  • Proximity to Corning, NY: Approximately 10 miles (15 minutes).
  • Proximity to Bath, NY: Approximately 12 miles.
  • Regional Access: Located centrally between the Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake wine trails.
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance and restrooms.

The services offered at Camp Bell Campground are comprehensive, catering to a wide range of camping styles. For those who prefer the full "unplugged" experience, traditional tent sites are available, while RV enthusiasts can take advantage of sites featuring full water, electric, and sewer hookups. The park is big-rig friendly, offering level grassy sites with gravel pads that make parking a breeze. For guests who don't have their own equipment, the campground offers cozy camping cabins that provide a comfortable roof over your head while maintaining that authentic outdoor feel. The on-site camp store, laundry facilities, and propane service ensure that all your practical needs are met without having to leave the property.

  • RV Hookups: 30 and 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer hookups.
  • Lodging Options: Traditional tent sites and fully-furnished camping cabins.
  • Sanitation: Clean restrooms with free hot showers and an easily accessible dump station.
  • On-site Convenience: Well-stocked camp store, launderette, and propane sales.
  • Connectivity: Free high-speed Wi-Fi available throughout much of the park.
  • Pet Services: Dedicated 30’ x 60’ dog park; the facility is proudly dog-friendly.
  • Guest Support: Accommodating staff and streamlined reservation systems for easy check-ins.

Features and highlights at Camp Bell are designed to keep every member of the family entertained. The heated in-ground swimming pool is a major draw during the New York summer months, providing a clean and safe environment for "small fry" and adults alike. For the younger crowd, a first-rate playground and a mini-arcade offer hours of fun. The park also boasts a variety of unique recreational options, such as a mining sluice and a Gaga ball pit, ensuring that the "kids and dogs" stay busy. Those looking for a bit more adventure can explore the on-site hiking trails or participate in organized community events like "Paint n Sips" and themed foam parties.

  • Heated Pool: A well-maintained in-ground pool, perfect for cooling off after a day of sightseeing.
  • Recreational Facilities: Mini-golf course, basketball and volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits.
  • Unique Fun: A mining sluice for kids and a high-energy Gaga ball pit.
  • Planned Activities: A rotating schedule of crafts, community events, and social gatherings.
  • Doggy Park: A fenced-in area specifically for furry companions to run off-leash.
  • Arcade and Rec Hall: A teen activity room and a game room for indoor entertainment.
  • Hiking: Access to wooded trails directly from the campground.

What is worth choosing at Camp Bell Campground is the sense of security and hospitality that comes from a well-managed private park. It is particularly worth choosing for travelers who want a "home base" for exploring the wider Finger Lakes area. Because the campground does not raise its prices for major events like race weekends at Watkins Glen, it offers exceptional value compared to other regional parks. The combination of level sites, high-quality amenities, and a staff that genuinely cares about your experience makes it a standout choice. Additionally, the park's commitment to being an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safespace ensures a welcoming environment for all New Yorkers.

For seasonal campers, the value is even more apparent. The ongoing "freshening up" of the park under new ownership means that the infrastructure is constantly improving, making it a wise long-term choice for those who want a reliable summer retreat. Whether you are stopping for a single night while passing through on I-86 or settling in for a week of wine tasting and museum tours, Camp Bell Campground delivers a clean, friendly, and fun environment. It is the perfect blend of small-town charm and professional resort-style service. After 7 years as seasonal campers at Camp Bell Campground, we are thrilled to see the positive improvements being made. The new owners are friendly and helpful and working hard every day to make the campground a nicer place for families. A lot of cleaning up, cleaning out, freshening up, and brightening up has taken place in just one season. Kudos to Rosemary, Geno, and the rest of the team!

We had a great experience at Camp Bell Campground, even though we only stayed overnight. Making the reservation was quick and easy, and they were very accommodating with our late check-in time. Our site was clearly marked, easy to find, level, and made parking a breeze. The campground itself was clean and well-maintained, with a lot of great amenities! We wish we could have stayed longer, and we’re definitely looking forward to coming back!

Price went up and experience went down. Owners enforcing rules that they don’t follow themselves- their dog off the leash running at people aggressively, speeding through the campground on their carts, woman working in the camp store with dirty bare feet. Our tweens/teens were told they were “too big for the playground”. So many sites here are empty and we see why now. We’ve come here for many years but this year we didn’t feel welcome at all and we won’t be back.

Would not recomend to any one! Very rude, not willing to listen to what is happening. So right off being bitchy insted of being pleasant. Trying to set up and they start saying you can't park here, there was nothing pleasant about this trip. I paid for my son and his kids to go for a night and was asked why I was paying, it is none of her business why I'm paying as long as everything is by the rules. .nothing at all like the old owner. Will never go back again
