Camp Oswego Introduce

For New Yorkers seeking a genuine escape from the fast-paced environment of city life, Camp Oswego in Windsor, NY, offers a refreshing return to nature. Situated in the Southern Tier of New York, this campground and summer camp organizer provides a unique blend of rustic charm and community-focused hospitality. It is a place where the air is clear, the stars are bright, and families can reconnect away from the digital distractions of the modern world. Whether you are looking for a weekend retreat or a longer seasonal stay, Camp Oswego positions itself as a sanctuary of calm and serenity, designed to help guests unwind and re-energize.

The philosophy at Camp Oswego revolves around a "caring family atmosphere." Founded with the intention of encouraging campers to explore the best that the outdoors has to offer, the camp has become a destination for those who value character-building and educational enrichment alongside traditional recreation. One of the most distinctive aspects of this location is its dual nature: it functions both as a traditional campground for travelers and a structured summer camp organizer. This results in a wealth of onsite activities and resources that are often more extensive than what you might find at a standard roadside stop. Guests frequently comment on the "home away from home" feeling, largely attributed to the attentive staff and the sense of safety that allows children to roam freely and make lifelong friends.

Location and accessibility are among the top priorities for New York travelers when choosing a getaway. Camp Oswego is conveniently located at 2276 Old Rte 17 in Windsor, New York. Its proximity to major transit routes like the I-86 interchange makes it highly accessible for those driving from various parts of the state or even from out of state. Despite its convenient location near the highway, the camp is set back into a sprawling 251-acre property that reaches almost two thousand feet above sea level. This elevation provides breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and farmland, ensuring that while you are only a short drive from local services, you feel completely secluded in a private mountain-top oasis.

  • Conveniently located on Old Route 17 with fast access to the I-86 interchange for easy travel.
  • Spans over 250 acres of varied landscape, including woods, streams, and rolling hills.
  • Features a 30-acre spring-fed lake, providing a central hub for waterfront activities.
  • Accessible parking and well-marked trails that allow for easy navigation across the vast property.
  • Secure and private environment where families feel safe letting children explore the grounds.

The services offered at Camp Oswego are designed to take the stress out of camping, particularly for those who might be new to the experience. Unlike many campgrounds where you are entirely on your own for sustenance, Camp Oswego is well-known for providing home-cooked meals. This "blessing," as noted by many visitors, allows families to focus on spending time together rather than managing a camp kitchen. The accommodations range from private family cabins to more traditional camping spaces, all maintained with a focus on cleanliness and comfort. The staff, including dedicated administrators, are consistently praised for their willingness to go above and beyond to accommodate guest needs, whether it is adjusting schedules or providing equipment for the various onsite sports.

  • Private cabin rentals that offer a clean and secluded environment for families and groups.
  • On-site meal services featuring home-cooked food, catering to guests who prefer not to cook.
  • Summer camp programs focused on character building, arts and crafts, and nature exploration.
  • Equipment rentals and provisions for various sports including tennis, biking, and ping pong.
  • Organized itineraries for group events, celebrations, and family reunions.
  • Access to professional staff and camp administrators who assist with all aspects of the stay.

The features and highlights of Camp Oswego are deeply rooted in its spectacular natural setting. The 30-acre lake is environmentally protected and spring-fed, making it a pristine spot for swimming, boating, and fishing. For those who enjoy wildlife, it is not uncommon to see eagles soaring above or chipmunks darting through the brush. The camp also offers a robust list of physical activities, from hiking trails that wind through the woods to organized field games. For children, the highlight is often the freedom to be active in a safe space, while for adults, the clear night skies and evening campfires provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation.

  • A private 30-acre lake perfect for swimming, canoeing, and non-motorized boating.
  • Dedicated fishing pond where guests can enjoy the tranquility of the water.
  • Extensive trail system for hiking, running, and biking throughout the 251-acre estate.
  • Indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, including tennis courts, basketball courts, and a gymnasium.
  • Family-centric highlights such as evening campfires and marshmallow roasting.
  • Educational opportunities including archery, photography, and nature pioneering.

The team is known for being responsive and helpful during the planning process.

What makes Camp Oswego truly worth choosing is the combination of its serene atmosphere and the high level of personal attention provided by the staff. For first-time campers in New York, the transition to the outdoors is made much smoother by the availability of private cabins and home-cooked meals. It is a place that prioritizes the "human" element of travel, where administrators like Rasha are mentioned by name for their tireless work in making every guest's stay perfect. The camp is particularly worth choosing if you are looking for a location that can host large group celebrations or family reunions while still providing individual privacy.

Furthermore, the variety of activities ensures that no one in the family will be bored. While the lake and fishing pond offer quiet reflection, the gymnasium and sports courts provide high-energy fun. The fact that the camp has been designed with safety and community in mind makes it a top-tier choice for parents who want their children to experience independence in a controlled environment. If you value the beauty of a sunset over a private lake and the simple joy of a clear, starry sky, Camp Oswego is a destination that delivers an experience that "pictures don't do justice." We encourage you to reach out to the Windsor team and discover why so many families plan to return to this lakeside retreat year after year.

What a pleasant experience!!! We reserved three months prior and reserved there private family cabin for Eid celebration! It was something we were looking forward to. Cabins were clean, and scenery was beautiful. We are first time campers and didn’t know what to expect, but That’s what made it more fun and relaxed and willing to expect the unexpected. The schedule may have been off based on what they had on the itinerary, but overall the staff did everything they can to accommodate our stay. The equipment such as tennis rackets, bikes, ping pong had some wear on them but were functional for those who wanted to try things for the first time. Our kids were very entertained with all the activities they had to offer for them. Loved the fact that my kids were safe and able to roam free all around the camp, They made friends right away. The second day of our stay was they most productive. The camp administrators were very nice and always made sure that we were ok. The reason it received four stars from me is the fact we didn’t follow the itinerary, Which caused a confusion as to what activity is next within the large group. Maybe a “welcome” group meeting to introduce everyone would of been nice to “break the ice” with our fellow brothers and sisters. Overall we are very happy and look forward to next year’s celebration here at Camp Oswego!

We drove From South Florida to camp Oswego for the first time, and it was well worth it.  Upon arrival, we felt quite at home.  The cabin was very clean, and private.  We were taken by surprise at the beauty, and scenery, Ma shaa Allah.  I live in one of the most organized and quite cities, and yet arriving here has given us another level of calm and serenity that was needed to unwind, and re-energize. The camp was very organized.  The food, nothing like other camps I’ve been to.  They have home cooked food, which is a blessing.  The serenity that you feel as you walk through the camp - the sky there is so beautiful and clear, it is so easy to be captivated by the beauty of the stars.  The camp fire, and marsh mellow roasting was a bliss, and the kids could not get enough.  The satisfaction you get from just walking the trails or sitting under the stars looking at the lake at sunset can only be experienced, for it cannot be put into words.  Enjoying daisies, taking a run through the trail, biking, or swimming in the lake, are some of the many activities that you can choose from. Watching eagles flying high in the sky, or chipmunks running around was just FUN!  Nature gives you the chance to just re-charge so you can move back to your daily life refreshed and ready to go.   The activities are very educational and fun.  I can go on and on, and on.  Needless to say, I cannot end this minimized version of a wonderful experience without giving a shout out to Rasha.  She is really amazing.  She has gone far and beyond to make us comfortable in every step of the way.  Running back and forth and never taking a moments rest to make sure that everything is perfect and running smoothly.   We are certainly planning to go back next year In shaa Allah, and maybe even have our family reunion there! Pictures don't do this place justice!  Thank you for a wonderful summer break! My kids have told me they made life long friends at the camp.  They didn’t want to leave.

Our group just spent four days at Camp Oswego last week and it was a great experience. The camp site was great with a masjid, beautiful lake, gymnasium, soccer fields, spacious cabins and cafeteria. The camp staff did their best to accommodate to our needs and wants from the moment we first contacted them all the way up until our departure. We are grateful for the experience and look forward to building more memories in this blessed camp.

A total waste of money. We paid $600 for a private cabin, 2 adults and 2 kids, it was moldy and dirty! I would say the service and activities we got is worth something around $150 max.Don’t be deceived by the photos and videos they post on the internet. They are very disorganized. Most of the programs that were supposed to take place during our stay never happened. The indoor gym and all the amenities they have are either broken, disfunction or out of service including billiards, ping pong table...etc.The artchery was a joke. They only had one arrow for the whole group to practice with! Most of the bikes are either broken, or with no breaks and dirty, so if you are planing a family ride, just forget about it.There were no islamic lectures, reflection after Fajr prayer, Nasheed or group bonding whatsoever! every group tried on their own to mingle but there were no efforts done by the camp. They had Bouncy house for kids with NO supervision or camp counselor at all. Older kids literally jumped on younger ones. Two kids got hurt and had a bloody nose. The cabin was moldy and dirty to say the least. As for the food, I’m not going to comment because some found it inedible others said it can pass, I have to say that we left after 24 hours as we couldn’t stay for another day. I would never recommend it for anyone.PS. The owner and his family were there, they never apologized for not sticking to the program or for the broken amenities. They are a nice family but when it comes to business, they really needed to be more honest with their communications. They sent us email with videos that included a fully functioning place, the truth was different.
