Camp Sacajawea Introduce
Camp Sacajawea is far more than a traditional campground; it is a 200-acre "enchanted forest" nestled in the rolling hills of Sussex County, New Jersey. Known for its tranquil atmosphere and unique rustic charm, the grounds serve as a versatile sanctuary for nature lovers, youth groups, and those seeking an unconventional event space. For residents of New Jersey, the camp has become a cultural landmark, primarily famous for hosting the annual Sparta Renaissance Festival and for its specialization in immersive, themed weddings. The property is characterized by towering trees, winding trails, and a serene private lake, creating a storybook environment that feels worlds away from the urban bustle of Northern New Jersey.
The spirit of the camp is defined by its eclectic and magical vibe. While it operates as a functional campground with tent sites and cabins, it also features extraordinary structures like a medieval tavern hall, a jousting arena, and even a castle façade. This makes it a premier destination for those who want their outdoor experience to include a touch of fantasy. Whether you are visiting for a weekend of hiking and fishing or attending one of the grand festivals that bring knights and jesters to the woods, Camp Sacajawea offers an experience rooted in community and the timeless beauty of the New Jersey wilderness.

What is worth choosing
Choosing Camp Sacajawea is a decision to embrace the extraordinary. For families in New Jersey, it is an unbeatable choice for a "kid-friendly" adventure where the imagination can run wild. The combination of safe, guided hiking trails and the excitement of the Renaissance-themed buildings makes it a place where children can learn about nature and history simultaneously. If you are looking for a weekend that involves more than just sitting by a fire, the opportunity to try your hand at archery or witness a jousting match at the annual fair provides a level of engagement rarely found at standard campgrounds.
For those planning a significant life event, such as a wedding or a corporate retreat, the camp is worth choosing for its "DIY" flexibility and immense value. Unlike corporate venues that limit you to a five-hour window, Camp Sacajawea often offers exclusive access for up to 72 hours. This allows guests to truly settle in, stay overnight in the cabins, and enjoy a stress-free celebration in a "Lord of the Rings" or "Fairytale" style setting. The freedom to bring your own vendors, coupled with the absence of noise restrictions, makes it a premier destination for those who want a wedding that is as unique as their own story. Whether for a quiet night under the stars or a grand medieval festival, Camp Sacajawea stands out as a jewel of Sussex County recreation.

Customer Reviews
The Sparta Renaissance Fair is held here the first three weekends of september. Family friendly fun for all amazing vendors as well as several food trucks. There is a joust and a dining hall and is friendly for all. Shows on stage and shakespeare is all the rage.
I am beyond overdue in reviewing this venue. James helped my wedding be a dream come true. The land, the tavern, the details- they were all so beautiful and all of my guests had a wonderful time. It is more rustic, but that was perfect for us! It matched our Lord of the Rings theme! Please consider using this venue for your wedding or large event!!!
My husband I had our wedding ceremony and reception here on June 16th of this year. James was absolutely amazing and did an amazing job making our day as special as possible. We had our ceremony in front of a giant wooden structure that we decorated with wisteria, and had our dinner and first dance under a massive tent with pretty lighting. Our dancing and partying took place in the main hall which was so pretty with the decorations and lighting. We had an upstairs section of the building dedicated to the wedding party for us to get ready or make any last minute adjustments as well as keep our items there for safe keeping. My husband I had our first look by the lake, and because the venue is used for ren faire events, we chose to include archery and axe throwing during cocktail hour which our guests absolutely adored. We got some awesome shots of us also participating and it was such a fun time! Overall James was incredible and his staff did an awesome job at making our day perfect. We did our wedding ala carte so we saved a ton on costs as this location was also very cost efficient and we could customize our day to whatever we needed. Make sure to figure out parking for your guests so that it’s easier for them to figure out where to go since this is a massive venue and technically a camp ground. Please please please consider this location for your wedding if you’d like to do something unique and special. We did our wedding with minor fantasy style themes and it was such a hit and so special to us. Thank you!!
Not the Hilton. But good option for putting up wedding parties from out of town. Was cold, so do bring extra sleeping bags in the winter. Has electricity for cpap machines. Expect old girl scout camp with wooden pallets and thin mattresses. Expect mud and the basic necessities. Bring linens, food and warm bedding. Budget friendly.
An absolutely gorgeous area, beautiful lake and ponds, over a hundred acres of perfection. They (it) are perfect Weddings, making the experience of every Wedding unique and magical. They host Knight Realms an exciting Fantasy Role-Playing game with attendances i've seen between 50 players to over 300 players.Lastly but certainly not least, they host the Sparta NJ Ren Faire. A wonderfully magical adventure, making your Renaissance adventure in a way no one else can.So no matter what you are doing here, you're sure to be satisfied with the experience.
