For residents of New Jersey looking to trade the suburban bustle for the rustle of leaves and the glow of a campfire, Clinton offers a convenient and rustic getaway. Nestled in the heart of Hunterdon County, the local campground provides an accessible escape into nature. This area is well-known for its rolling hills and scenic vistas, making it a staple for local families who want to experience the great outdoors without a multi-hour drive. The environment here is designed for those who appreciate the simplicity of traditional camping, offering a space where the primary focus is on nature, fresh air, and quality time spent with friends and family.

The campground serves as a gateway to the diverse landscapes of Northern and Central New Jersey. It appeals to a variety of visitors, from solo hikers looking for a quiet morning on the trails to families introducing their children to the joys of sleeping under the stars. While the experience is decidedly low-key, it provides the essential foundations for a classic camping trip. Whether you are bringing a full-sized RV or a simple pop-up tent, the grounds offer a functional space to set up your base camp and begin exploring the natural beauty that Clinton and the surrounding Hunterdon County region are famous for.

Accessibility is one of the strongest suits of this Clinton-based destination. Located on an unnamed road within the 08809 zip code, the campground is easily reached via major New Jersey arteries like Route 78 and Route 22. This makes it an ideal spot for "staycations" or quick weekend trips for those living in nearby towns such as High Bridge, Annandale, or Flemington. The facility is committed to being inclusive, offering a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that all members of the community can enjoy the park's natural offerings. On-site parking is readily available, allowing for a smooth transition from your vehicle to your designated campsite.

The location is particularly popular among local residents because it manages to feel secluded while remaining close to the amenities of Clinton’s historic downtown. Choosing this campground is worth it for those who prioritize location and convenience above all else. For a New Jersey local, the value lies in the ability to find a sense of wilderness so close to home. It is a particularly good choice for budget-conscious travelers, as the camping fees are generally affordable compared to private luxury resorts. This makes it an excellent "starter" campground for families testing out their gear for the first time or for local scout troops looking for a nearby place to practice their outdoor skills. The kid-friendly hiking trails are a significant advantage, providing a safe and engaging way to keep the younger generation active and entertained.

Furthermore, the inclusion of RV hookups and accessible parking makes it a practical choice for a wide demographic of campers. While the facility offers a more rugged and basic experience, it provides the essential backdrop for those who want to create their own entertainment. It is worth choosing if you are looking for a straightforward, no-frills location where you can set up a tent, grill some food, and enjoy the natural environment of Clinton. For many, the nostalgia of visiting a park they grew up with, combined with the ease of access, makes this a reliable spot for a quick breath of fresh air. It remains a notable part of the local landscape for those who understand that the best camping trips are often the ones where the focus is on the people you are with and the simple beauty of the New Jersey woods.

Grew up going here as a kid. Sad to say the state has given up on this park. The park is poorly staffed and poorly monitored. Camping spots are cheap but the etiquette of the campers who go is surprisingly bad. The buildings are all closed or in disrepair. Bathrooms are useable but dirty. There has been a toxic algae bloom for 5+ years in the water, you cannot swim in it. Quiet hours are not respected. Playgrounds are overgrown with weeds. It’s a shadow of its former glory.

This was our 3rd time here. The last 2 times were the worst camping trips we've ever had. Unfortunately, I will never come back here again. The type of people that camp here are the rudest, most ignorant people I've ever experienced. 2 of our camp chairs went missing when we were on a bike ride. People literally walk through your site, like right in between your stuff. They are loud, over crowded and inconsiderate. I've never felt so unsafe at a campground before. Aside from the people this place attracts, it's a nice place. It's ashame.

The campsite next to mine had four cars and nine people. You can imagine what happened: those four cars and nine people overflowed into my campsite. Just be aware that they pack ‘em tight at this campground. Aside from that, the staff was friendly.

Love the location. It’s right next to the lake and each campsite is fairly spaced apart. There are plenty of trees to provide shade and staffs are friendly. The single ONLY thing that makes staying here long than a day difficult is the RESTROOMS. All of the stalls and restroom are filthy, old, rusted, or out of order. If renovated, this campground would be extremely comfortable
