Cooperstown Family Campground Introduce

For New York residents looking to escape the hustle of everyday life, Cooperstown Family Campground provides a quintessential Upstate retreat. Nestled on 21 wooded acres in the rolling hills of Otsego County, this family-owned and operated destination has spent over 48 years perfecting the art of the outdoor getaway. The campground is designed for those who value a quiet, clean, and friendly atmosphere where the primary focus is on spending quality time with loved ones. From the sounds of bullfrogs in the evening to the sight of children riding bikes to the camp store, the park embodies the nostalgic charm of a classic New York summer camp while providing the modern conveniences required by today’s travelers.

What sets this campground apart for local users is the meticulous care taken by the owners, Dwayne and Julie, who are frequently seen personally maintaining the grounds to ensure every site is in pristine condition. The property strikes a beautiful balance between shaded, secluded spots and open, sun-drenched areas, catering to a variety of camping styles. Whether you are seeking a weekend of "unplugged" relaxation by a campfire or a home base for a week-long baseball tournament, the park offers a serene environment that feels worlds away from the city, despite being just a short drive from the region's most popular cultural landmarks.

Location and accessibility are among the top reasons New Yorkers choose this site for their vacations. Located at 230 Petkewec Rd, Cooperstown, NY 13326, the campground is strategically positioned roughly nine miles from the historic Village of Cooperstown. This allows guests to easily visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Farmers' Museum, and the Fenimore Art Museum without the congestion of staying in the village center. For those arriving from other parts of the state, the park is easily accessible via New York State Route 28 and Route 80. The facility also prides itself on inclusivity and accessibility, offering wheelchair-accessible entrances, dedicated parking lots, and ADA-compliant restrooms to ensure that all family members can participate in the fun.

We booked sight unseen to stay with our travel trailer for 4 days. It’s a beautiful spot and incredibly well maintained. The owners are out there fixing and cleaning for hours on end and it really shows. We especially loved the fishing ponds as you can see! Lots of big largemouth bass and panfish! Would definitely stay again.

Could not have been more accommodating. Easy check in. The kids liked the game room and got a kick out of the phone booth! Cute camp store also with fair prices. Convenient for Cooperstown and Howe Caverns.

We loved our stay! Our tent site was up on a higher bank between the two ponds. We found a flat spot that would drain if there was rain. Our setup day was very hot and humid and so we loved the slight breeze we could catch from our site. At night it was magic - the sounds of many types of frogs making happy low level noises all around us. There was only one other tent at the other side of the loop so our stay felt very private. One note - the water is really gross - I recommend planning for that by bringing in your own for drinking/cooking. The office says it's potable and I believe it, but it's a bit discolored and highly chlorinated. Good for hand washing! Thanks so much!
