Cranberry Run Campground Introduce
Cranberry Run Campground is a quintessential destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking an authentic and "old-school" camping experience in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. Spanning over 60 heavily wooded acres in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, this family-owned and operated facility has been a staple for local campers since the 1970s. The campground is designed to help visitors unplug from the digital world and reconnect with the natural beauty of the region. With its lush canopy of mature trees and slightly mountainous terrain, the property offers a level of privacy and tranquility that is increasingly rare in modern, high-density RV resorts. Whether you are looking for a secluded spot to pitch a tent or a fully equipped site for your motorhome, Cranberry Run provides a peaceful sanctuary where the forest truly speaks for itself.
The atmosphere at Cranberry Run is defined by a welcoming, low-stress environment. Residents of the surrounding Pennsylvania regions often flock here to escape the hustle of city life, drawn by the quiet mornings and the frequent sightings of local wildlife. The management prides itself on maintaining a laid-back vibe while ensuring that the grounds are well-maintained and organized. This balance makes it a popular choice for families, groups, and solo travelers alike. By avoiding excessive "gimmicks," the campground remains focused on the core elements of a great trip: fresh air, clear nights for stargazing, and the camaraderie of fellow campers around a crackling fire. It is a place where "staying with us is like staying with family," a sentiment echoed by generations of visitors who return year after year.
Location and accessibility are among the top reasons local travelers choose Cranberry Run. Situated at 188 Campground Rd, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301, the campground is remarkably easy to reach from major transit hubs. It is located just a 10-minute drive from the town center of East Stroudsburg and is roughly 20 minutes away from the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, providing campers with easy access to world-class hiking, canoeing, and rafting. For those traveling from the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, or even parts of New Jersey, the site is conveniently accessible via Interstate 80 and Route 209.
Despite its wooded seclusion, the campground is well-positioned for those who wish to explore local attractions. Within a 15-minute drive, guests can find the Mount Airy Casino Resort, indoor flea markets, and a variety of shopping outlets. For those with RVs, it is important to note that while the drive to the campground is scenic, the final approach involves a steep incline with crushed stone, which adds to the mountainous charm but requires attentive driving. Once on-site, ample parking is provided, and the layout of the 92 sites is thoughtfully planned to prevent overcrowding, ensuring that every guest has their own slice of the Poconos landscape.
Cranberry Run Campground offers a comprehensive range of onsite services designed to make your stay comfortable without sacrificing the rugged feel of the outdoors. You want camping but no stress this is the perfect place …..Our stay at Cranberry Run Campground was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming and organized. The sites are spacious, clean, and well maintained. The nature around the campground is beautiful — quiet mornings, fresh air, and lots of wildlife to see. The staff was friendly and helpful whenever we had a question. It truly felt like a perfect getaway from the busy city life. We’re already planning our next visit!
I really enjoyed my two-day trip here. It is family friendly. Ellen was very nice. It's a beautiful location. We loved the tent site that we were assigned. No loud music after 11pm. Clean and safe. The bathrooms were close by. My small, only complaint is that the bathrooms get very wet due to the showers. There's a small store in case you forgot anything. Plenty to do nearby if you feel like leaving the site. The other campers were very respectful. I will definitely come back!
I can't say enough good things about this place. The family that owns it we're very hospitable. Our children played with their awesome son the majority of our trip leaving us adults plenty of time for R&R. The cabins were very rustic and I truly felt the connection to Nature, being pretty much unplugged the whole weekend yet still having my phone charged for emergencies. It was a short drive to town to pick up supplies at the local Walmart but also felt very disconnected from the hustle and bustle. The camp is also fairly close to bushkills falls which was a great day trip and so scenic. The pool was amazing and gave my children many hours of fun. I didn't have any luck fishing but they do have a pond with a little dock to fish from. When it came time to leave no one wanted to go home and the very next day everyone was asking when we could go back. We're now planning a trip for October because they are hosting a Halloween event.Update: 2nd trip was as great as the first. The whole family cant wait to visit again in may when they open for the season.
The entire experience with cranberry run campground was a great one! I came with a large group of about 20 people and Ellen was very accommodating and friendly. The group site had plenty of room for all of us to set up, albeit on a large hill. I did wish the fire pit was a bit larger, but we managed just fine. There was a silent disco at the game room on Saturday night which was a lot of fun. We would definitely come back again!
My friends and I had a wonderful time for our long weekend stay. Ellen was incredibly flexible especially since my originally predicted large group of 12 had dwindled down to 6 and some had different check-in and check-out days. I have already told my friend group that we will be returning next year to explore more of the Water Gap trails. Our campsites were in the previously hike-in sections and were great sizes. The mountain is made up of what looked like shale so bring a mattress pad and hammer for your tent stakes. We had very little mosquitoes when we were visiting, which was a pleasant surprise. If you have a car that is very low to the ground I would let Ellen know. The road up the small hill to the newer sites had some pot holes, but with the runoff from the rain it would be futile for them to be constantly grading the roads.Staff were extremely friendly and the campground was well kept. The showers do need a make over, but bathrooms are expensive to update so we couldn't really complain. I, myself, am just always glad to have running water and working toilets and showers available. My suggestion would be to add a wall box to each shower so that guests can store their belongings up off the floor. The floors in the showers can puddle quickly so a shower squeegee with a long pole placed in each one may be a cheap and easily purchased help. This way guests can move the water to the drain. Also, I wonder if different shower heads could be installed that spray the water directly downwards onto the floor instead of out into the back of the shower like they do now. That may help to keep the water more towards the drain side.Overall, we had a great time and experience.
