Crestwood Cottages Introduce

Crestwood Cottages offers a quintessential Thousand Islands experience for travelers seeking a peaceful and authentic waterfront retreat. Located along the scenic main channel of the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay, New York, this family-owned establishment has been welcoming guests since 1970. The property is designed for those who appreciate the slower pace of "river life," providing a serene environment where the primary focus is on the natural beauty of the water, the passing of international shipping vessels, and the world-class fishing that has made this region famous. For residents and visitors across the New York region, Crestwood Cottages represents a traditional, no-frills escape that emphasizes relaxation and direct access to the river's clear blue waters.

Unlike larger, more commercialized resorts in the area, Crestwood Cottages maintains a boutique atmosphere with a limited number of rental units. This ensures that the grounds remain quiet and private, catering specifically to couples and small families who want to avoid the crowds of downtown Alexandria Bay while remaining just minutes away from its attractions. The cottages are positioned to provide a "million-dollar view" of the shipping channel, making it a favorite spot for ship-watchers and photography enthusiasts. The property is managed with a personal touch, reflecting decades of family heritage and a deep respect for the local environment.

The location and accessibility of Crestwood Cottages are among its most significant draws. Situated at 46943 Carnegie Bay Rd, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607, the property is nestled in a quiet neighborhood that dead-ends at Iroquois Island, ensuring very little through-traffic and a safe environment for residents. While it feels secluded, it is located approximately one mile from the heart of downtown Alexandria Bay. This proximity allows guests to easily explore local landmarks such as Boldt Castle and the Thousand Islands Museum, or enjoy the village's diverse dining and shopping options, before returning to the sanctuary of their riverside porch. Access to the property is straightforward via NY-12, a major thoroughfare for travelers coming from the Syracuse or Watertown areas.

  • Prime waterfront location on Carnegie Bay with direct views of the St. Lawrence Seaway main shipping channel.
  • Quiet, residential setting on a dead-end road, minimizing noise and traffic.
  • Approximately one mile from the village center of Alexandria Bay, providing a balance of seclusion and convenience.
  • Easy access for boaters with 105 feet of shoreline and private on-site dockage.
  • Short driving distance to regional highlights like Wellesley Island State Park and the Thousand Islands Bridge.

The services offered at Crestwood Cottages are designed to provide the comforts of home in a rustic, "camping-style" atmosphere. Each cottage is fully furnished and equipped with a kitchenette, allowing guests to prepare their own meals and enjoy a self-sufficient vacation. Recognizing the importance of the river to its guests, the property includes dockage for small to mid-sized boats, making it an ideal choice for fishing trips or recreational boating. The management focuses on providing a clean, well-maintained environment where the basics are handled with care, from air conditioning and high-speed internet to private facilities for each rental unit.

  • Two-bedroom cottage rentals that comfortably sleep four adults per unit.
  • Fully equipped kitchenettes featuring refrigerators, microwaves, hot plates, griddles, and coffee makers.
  • Private bathrooms located within each cottage containing a toilet; private individual shower rooms are located in the adjacent shower house.
  • Dedicated dock space for boats under 24 feet, included with the rental for easy water access.
  • On-site high-speed WiFi and air conditioning units in each cottage for modern comfort.
  • Outdoor amenities including charcoal grills and picnic tables for traditional riverside dining.
  • Seasonal availability from May through September, catering to the peak weather of the Thousand Islands.

The features and highlights of Crestwood Cottages make it a standout choice for those who value nature and tranquility over luxury amenities. The screened-in porches are perhaps the most popular feature, offering an unobstructed view of the river where guests can relax regardless of the weather. For families with children, the property includes a unique wooden pirate ship playset, providing entertainment while parents relax by the water. The community fire pit serves as a central gathering spot in the evenings, where guests can share stories of the day's catch under the stars.

  • Large-windowed and screened porches designed for panoramic ship-watching and sunset viewing.
  • A family-friendly wooden pirate ship playground for younger guests.
  • A community fire pit area for evening campfires and social interaction.
  • Million-dollar views of the international shipping channel from every unit.
  • Pet-free and quiet-focused environment to ensure a restful stay for all guests.
  • Historic, family-owned charm with a reputation for attentive and friendly hosting.
  • Direct shoreline access for swimming and shore fishing.

If you are planning a visit to the Thousand Islands and wish to inquire about current rates or seasonal availability, the owners of Crestwood Cottages can be reached through their primary office. It is recommended to book well in advance, especially for the popular July and August weeks, as these cottages have a high rate of returning guests who value the unique peace and quiet of the Carnegie Bay area.

What is worth choosing when it comes to Crestwood Cottages? For many New Yorkers, it is worth choosing for the unmatched views and the sense of nostalgia. It is an ideal spot for the traveler who wants to wake up to the sound of the river and spend their day on a boat rather than in a crowded hotel lobby. It is worth choosing for the "awesome host" experience, where the management is personally invested in making your stay enjoyable. Because the property has a strict policy regarding the number of guests and visitors, it remains a sanctuary for those who truly want to "get away" from it all and enjoy a quiet, safe, and serene neighborhood.

Furthermore, choosing a stay here means investing in a piece of Alexandria Bay history. Since 1970, the focus has remained on providing a clean, cozy, and convenient place to experience the St. Lawrence. Whether you are coming to fish for smallmouth bass or simply to watch the massive freighters glide by, Crestwood Cottages offers a factual and authentic riverside experience that delivers on its promise of relaxation. For a stay that feels like a home away from home with a million-dollar view, Crestwood is an exceptional choice in the 1000 Islands.

Family booked a stay here, from out of state, and explained they would have family visiting. Fast forward to a week before checking in they found they were not told parking is extremely limited and guests are not welcome. "It's not a state park" was a comment made when asked if company/family could visit during the stay for the week. Consider all options and make sure this is the appropriate place for your stay.

My wife and I stayed here for almost a week. They are cozy little cottages with everything you need. Just bring linens and bath towels. They are right on the channel with dock access if needed. Only about a mile from town too. It was very quiet the time we were there. The owners Crystal and Scott were very friendly and hospitable.

My Husband and I went for a Anniversary get a way at the end of September. This was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin had everything we needed, fridge, coffee pot, pans etc. just bring your linens and towels. Very close to the stores and the main town! The owners were wonderful! You can’t beat the price for this view! Can not wait to bring the kids next summer!
