Dogwood Acres Campground Inc Introduce
For families across Pennsylvania, finding the perfect balance between a rustic outdoor escape and modern comfort can be a challenge. Dogwood Acres Campground Inc, situated at the base of the beautiful Blue Mountains in Newville, has spent decades perfecting this balance. As a family-owned and operated facility, it has earned a reputation among local campers as a "home away from home" where personal service and a friendly atmosphere are the standards. Whether you are a resident of nearby Carlisle, Harrisburg, or traveling from further across the Commonwealth, this campground offers a serene retreat that captures the quiet beauty of South Central Pennsylvania’s countryside.
The spirit of Dogwood Acres is defined by its commitment to community and hospitality. From the moment you arrive, the emphasis on personalized care is evident—staff members frequently escort guests directly to their sites to ensure a smooth setup. This level of attention has not gone unnoticed on a national level; the park was previously honored as a "National Park of the Year" by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. For local users, this means staying at a facility that meets high standards of cleanliness, safety, and recreational variety, all while maintaining the charm of a local small business.

What is Worth Choosing
Dogwood Acres Campground Inc is worth choosing specifically for its family-centric culture. In an era where many campgrounds are becoming corporate-owned and impersonal, Dogwood Acres remains a place where the owners are involved in the daily operations and treat every guest like family. If you are looking for a location that prioritizes the safety and entertainment of children, the combination of the Hundred Acre Wood playground, the swimming pool, and the gentle catch-and-release pond makes it an unbeatable choice in the Cumberland Valley area. The made-to-order breakfasts at the pavilion are a particular highlight for many, providing a convenient and delicious start to a day of mountain adventures.
For pet owners, this campground is a premier choice due to its extensive pet-friendly infrastructure. The inclusion of a dedicated, fenced-in dog park allows your four-legged companions to enjoy the vacation as much as the rest of the family. Additionally, the shaded nature of many of the sites ensures that both humans and pets stay cool during the humid Pennsylvania summers. Whether you are looking for a basecamp to explore the Appalachian Trail and Colonel Denning State Park, or simply a quiet weekend by the fire with your loved ones, Dogwood Acres provides a high-quality, authentic camping experience that keeps local residents returning year after year.
Finally, the "little things" make a big difference here. From the convenience of firewood being delivered to your site to the warmth of the "Heroes Honor Wall," the campground fosters an environment of respect and gratitude. It is a place designed for those who value traditional camping values—quiet nights, friendly neighbors, and well-maintained facilities. Choosing Dogwood Acres means choosing a legacy of Pennsylvania hospitality that has been recognized as some of the best in the nation.

Customer Reviews
We were looking for something close to home for a first weekend taking our toddler granddaughter, this fit the criteria perfectly. We had someone escort us to our site which was wonderfully shaded and close to the office & pavilion. The site was outfitted with a nice fire pit and picnic table. The campground has a small pond with paddle boats available for rent and catch & release fishing. Our granddaughter really enjoyed the playground which features an array of swings, slides and climbing apparatus. There is also a nice pool with patio area. The bath house was small but well maintained and clean. We also enjoyed a nice, made to order breakfast that was fairly priced and tasty. The entire staff was friendly & helpful. Overall, this was a very well maintained campground with wonderful staff. We would definitely stay again
5 stars!Unless you're a square, this is a great campground for you.I do not understand how they can provide such comfort and care. They personaly show you to your site upon arrival and firewood gets delivered. It's the little things that matter, right? The owners are involved, kind, fun and make you feel like family. They are kid and family focused. We've had a wonderful time and I hope we can make it back sometime soon.
We stayed here a few nights as we were passing through. The park itself is a great campground if you’re looking for a place to camp with a fire and sit outdoors. It is difficult to get to if you’re just passing through town. The roads to the campground are quite narrow and curvy. The owners of the campground are always working on the campground so it looks fantastic. The grounds are very well kept, and it has a very beautiful stream and lots of activities. My only reason for giving it a 4 star is we did request to leave one day early before we even checked in. They were not receptive at all. As full-timers this does happen on occasion for us and most campgrounds will accommodate you if you haven’t checked in. But they would not. In the end it didn’t end up being a major issue so I don’t want to ding them much. If you’re looking for a great weekend campground area this is a good stop. We sat outside in the evenings and watched the fireflies and listen to the creek as it was running. Very nice.
We had our yearly family weekend together, 28 of us. What an amazing campground, well maintained, clean, lots of fun activities, but most of all wonderful people running this place, everyone of them. We booked already for next year. Personally I think they need to win campground of the year award. Thanks for all your hospitality. Much appreciated!!
All staff very knowledge able. Ray is very super nice and helpful. Kristen was great and very helpful. They both are excellent at welcoming the guest. It was my family and my first camping trip. We had a fantastic time. The grounds are beautiful and lots to see and do. Thank you all and see you next year!
