Elk Crossing 555 Campground Introduce
For outdoor enthusiasts in Pennsylvania, there is no region more captivating than the Pennsylvania Wilds, specifically the area surrounding the historic elk herd. Elk Crossing 555 Campground, located in Weedville, serves as a primary hub for those looking to immerse themselves in this unique natural phenomenon. As a family-oriented destination, the campground provides a tranquil escape where the bugling of elk often serves as the morning wake-up call. It is a place where the simplicity of traditional camping meets the unparalleled excitement of wildlife observation, making it a staple for local residents and travelers who want to experience the "wild side" of the Keystone State.
The atmosphere at Elk Crossing 555 Campground is designed to reflect the rugged beauty of its surroundings. Situated along the scenic Route 555, often referred to as the Elk Scenic Drive, the park offers a peaceful environment that prioritizes nature over commercial flash. Whether you are an avid angler looking for a pristine trout stream or a family hoping to catch a glimpse of a 700-pound bull elk, this campground positions you exactly where you need to be. It provides a community-focused setting where campers can share stories around a fire after a day spent exploring the vast mountainous terrain of Elk and Cameron counties.
The location of Elk Crossing 555 Campground is one of its most significant advantages for Pennsylvania travelers. Its address at 9230 PA-555, Weedville, PA 15868, USA, places it directly in the heart of the "Elk Range." Accessibility is straightforward, as Route 555 is a main artery through the valley, connecting the small villages of Weedville and Benezette. This makes the campground an easy drive for those coming from nearby hubs like St. Marys, DuBois, or Clearfield. The park's entrance is well-marked and designed to accommodate various vehicle sizes, ensuring that those towing trailers or driving large motorhomes can navigate the arrival process without stress.
Beyond its road accessibility, the campground is strategically located near the most popular wildlife viewing spots in the state. It is just a short drive from the Elk Country Visitor Center on Winslow Hill, which is the epicenter of Pennsylvania elk conservation and education. For those who prefer to stay closer to their "base camp," the surrounding meadows and the creek running near the property frequently attract wildlife, allowing for observation right from the campground's perimeter. The facility provides on-site parking to ensure that guests have a secure place for their vehicles while they venture out on foot or by bike to explore the local trails.

Nice quiet campground. Close to elk viewing area. Limited full hookups sites. Only two public toilets and two public showers. Well kept and clean.
the lady that works here… she was very snobby, always hovering over our campsite every 10 minutes. absolutely no privacy. she charged us 48$ for a night when down the street you can camp with eletric for only 35$. she is extremely money hungry. her son kept making me extremely uncomfortable as well. would not recommend when there is better sites available. bathroom was also disgusting and disturbing.
Clean, neat, spacious, great for RVs & tents. Host is friendly too.
