Greenville Farm Family Campground, Inc. Introduce

For Virginia residents and Northern Virginia families looking for a genuine countryside escape, Greenville Farm Family Campground, Inc. provides a unique blend of heritage and tranquility. Established on a 200-acre working farm that dates back to 1828, this family-owned destination offers a peaceful alternative to the more commercialized resorts in the region. Located in the charming town of Haymarket, it allows campers to immerse themselves in a rural landscape while remaining just a short drive from the cultural and historic hubs of the Commonwealth. Whether you are looking for a weekend of quiet reflection or a base camp for exploring local history, Greenville Farm delivers a classic "Virginia farm" experience that has been welcoming guests for over 50 years.

The campground is split into distinct areas, featuring 43 wooded acres dedicated to camping and the remaining acreage continuing as an active farm operation. This duality is a significant part of the charm; it is not uncommon to see a tractor harvesting hay in the distance or to catch a glimpse of farm animals as you wander the property. For locals, it feels less like a business and more like a stay on a family estate, thanks to the hospitable management of the mother-and-daughter team who currently oversee operations. Their personal touch and pride in the property have fostered a loyal community of repeat visitors who return every weekend to enjoy the "relaxation and quiet" that this Haymarket gem is known for.

Location and accessibility are major advantages for those in the Virginia and D.C. metropolitan areas. Situated at 14004 Shelter Ln, Haymarket, VA 20169, the park is conveniently located near the junction of I-66 and US-15. This positioning makes it an easy "straight shot" for travelers from Fairfax, Manassas, or Richmond. Despite its proximity to these urban centers, the campground sits at the end of a long drive, effectively insulating guests from traffic noise. The entrance, parking lots, and primary restrooms are all wheelchair accessible, ensuring that the beauty of the Virginia Piedmont is available to everyone in the community. Guests arriving in larger rigs will find the park "big-rig friendly," with generous site lengths that can accommodate even the most substantial 5th wheels and motorhomes.

  • Full hookup RV sites including water, sewer, and electric (30 and 50 amp).
  • Water and electric only sites for smaller campers and vans.
  • Dedicated wooded tent sites for a more primitive, traditional experience.
  • Four stocked fishing ponds featuring bass, bluegill, and channel catfish.
  • Swimming pool and separate kiddie pool for summer recreation.
  • Clean, spacious bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets.
  • On-site camp store carrying ice, basic supplies, and propane.
  • Laundry facilities for the convenience of long-term and seasonal guests.
  • Sanitary dump station accessible for all registered campers.

One of the true highlights of Greenville Farm is its outdoor recreation. The four fishing ponds are a centerpiece for activity; because they are private farm ponds, no state fishing license is required for guests, making it an easy and accessible hobby for children and adults alike. The farm’s expansive 200 acres also invite exploration, with plenty of room for peaceful walks through the rolling pastures and woods. For families with children, the playground and open fields provide a safe environment for kids to burn off energy while parents enjoy the quiet atmosphere. The park’s commitment to being pet-friendly also means your dogs are welcome to join the family adventure, provided they remain on a leash.

  • Historic 1828 stone farmhouse and working farm environment.
  • Proximity to Manassas National Battlefield Park (only 10 minutes away).
  • Large, well-spaced sites that offer privacy and avoid a "crowded" feel.
  • Direct access to hiking and nature trails within the wooded sections.
  • Close to local Haymarket wineries and The Farm Brewery at Broad Run.
  • NFC mobile payments and all major credit/debit cards accepted.
  • Excellent cell reception for major carriers despite the rural setting.
  • Seasonal sites available for those looking for a permanent weekend getaway.

What is worth choosing about Greenville Farm Family Campground is the authentic sense of place it provides. It is worth choosing for those who prioritize a "no-frills" environment where the focus is on nature, history, and family time. Unlike many modern parks that feel like parking lots, Greenville’s sites are integrated into the landscape, providing either deep shade in the woods or wide-open views of the pastures. It is particularly worth choosing for history buffs who want to stay in the "Heart of History" while having a clean, reliable, and quiet place to return to at night. The lack of loud highway noise and the spacious site layouts ensure that your stay will be defined by the sounds of the farm and the forest, rather than the rush of the city.

Ultimately, choosing this Haymarket campground means supporting a legacy Virginia business that has remained in the same family for generations. The pride of ownership is evident in the well-maintained bathhouses and the manicured property. For the local Virginia traveler, it offers a "refreshing stop" that captures the best of the Piedmont region. If you are ready for a weekend of fishing, swimming, or simply watching the sunset over a rolling field, Greenville Farm Family Campground is the right choice for your next local adventure.

We had a great stay at Greenville Family Farm Campground earlier this year. The property is beautiful and well cared for, with friendly hosts who clearly take pride in the place. It’s peaceful, with plenty of open space and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. A perfect stop if you’re looking for a quiet countryside stay near Washington D.C.
