Hillwood Camping Park Introduce
For residents and visitors in the Northern Virginia region, finding a peaceful place to park an RV that balances natural beauty with suburban convenience can be a challenge. Hillwood Camping Park, located in the heart of Gainesville, Virginia, serves as a vital resource for the local community and travelers alike. This park is not just a temporary stopover; it has established itself as a premier destination for long-term residents, including military personnel, government contractors, and traveling professionals working in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Surrounded by the lush forests of Prince William County, Hillwood offers a serene, wooded environment that feels worlds away from the hustle of the city, yet remains minutes from modern necessities.
The park is characterized by its mature trees and quiet atmosphere, which appeal to "mature adults" and those seeking a low-key residential experience. As a facility that caters heavily to extended stays, it fosters a unique sense of community where neighbors often look out for one another. While it may not feature the high-energy water parks or organized recreation programs of major commercial chains, its charm lies in its simplicity and its role as a stable, reliable home base. For Virginians looking for a functional and affordable living or vacationing option near the I-66 corridor, Hillwood provides a unique niche in the local camping landscape.
Location and accessibility are the standout features of Hillwood Camping Park. Situated at 14280 Gardner Manor Place, Gainesville, VA 20155, the park is perfectly positioned for easy commuting. It is approximately 35 miles from downtown Washington D.C. and just 5 miles from the historic city of Manassas. For those relying on public transit, the closest Metro station is roughly 17 miles away, making the capital's attractions reachable for day trips. Locally, the park is just a short drive—or even a brisk walk for some—to the Virginia Gateway shopping megapolis, which features over 120 retail shops, dining options, and entertainment venues like Regal Cinemas and Cabela's.
Accessibility for larger rigs is a priority here, as the park offers 140 sites designed to accommodate vehicles up to 45 feet in length. The terrain is relatively flat with scattered trees, providing a manageable environment for navigating trailers and motorhomes. Its proximity to the Washington Beltway and Dulles International Airport ensures that guests arriving from across the country can find the park with ease. Despite being in a developed suburban area, the park’s specific location tucked behind Gardner Manor Place helps buffer it from much of the surrounding traffic noise, though the occasional passing train reminds visitors of the area's historical rail connections.

Hillwood Camping Park is worth choosing if you prioritize location and value over luxury amenities. It is a standout choice for the working traveler who needs a "no-nonsense" home base with full hookups and reliable utilities. While some visitors have noted that the park feels "packed" and maintains a rustic aesthetic, it is precisely this high-density, community-focused environment that allows it to remain one of the most affordable options in the expensive Washington D.C. corridor. For military families and government employees, the park's dedication to providing a safe and quiet space is a significant benefit.
Furthermore, the park is an excellent choice for those who want to be in the heart of Gainesville's shopping and dining district without having to stay in a hotel. Being able to launch a day of exploration at the nearby national battlefield or take a short drive to a PGA-level golf course makes this park a strategic location for any Virginian. If you value a friendly, long-term community where the management is attentive to the needs of residents and the natural beauty of the forest is just outside your door, Hillwood Camping Park provides a practical and welcoming sanctuary in Northern Virginia.

Customer Reviews
Nice and quiet (except for the trains that come by regular)RV park in the middle of Gainesville VA. Everyone we have met is friendly and helpful. Very close to a shopping center.
This place is absolute trash. Campers packed in like a storage lot. Tv cables running everywhere and no WiFi or amenities to justify the amount that they charge. I am up here working for several years and they told me I couldn’t have my camper there because it’s to old. There are campers falling apart in there that are from the early to mid 90s. Mine is a 2002 one owner mint. The lady that manages the place is extremely rude and said if the owners let me stay then she would quit lol. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemies
My son has a space in this park. It is fairly wooded and really pretty. Every time I drive through the park is really clean. It is near places to eat and shop. It is quiet. He has space to park on both sides of his rv. And he said he pays less there than some other parks. It has amenities in the park like a good size washateria.
There was a dangerous situation over the weekend in my neighborhood involving 2 Sheppards chasing people including children. Biting also involved. According to the news the dogs and owner were found in this camp. Please respect our county laws , the safety of the Gainesville community and children. Leash your dogs. Thank you.
Not a very well kept place. Rumor has it that it is being sold so they are just making as much money as they can. Many of the campers have been there for years. More like a low end mobile home Park. I stayed there for a month a few months ago. People speed on the road. Not ideal for a quick Vacation or stop.
