Customer Reviews
We had a great time here. From the time we checked in, the staff took care of us. The owner made sure we had a spot big enough. Andy the camp host was the best I've ever experienced. From guiding us to and into our site when we arrived to helping us with some camper troubleshooting to filling propane tanks. He is definitely an asset to your team! Very dog friendly with a little dog park to let them stretch their legs after a long ride. A nice dip in the pool with some other friendly campers. Oh, and the bathrooms by our site were spotless!
The staff is very helpful and friendly. The sites are somewhat level, but we had one that was pretty good. Shower design is unusual, but lights going off when in the shower is a bit unusual, however, the hot water running out was bad
We stayed at this KOA for our son’s wedding. We had about 35 people in our family stay between cabins, campers, a tent and the glamping tent. We loved this KOA! The staff is extremely helpful, friendly, accommodating, and polite. Debby and Julie at the front desk are so welcoming. The park is clean and lots for kids to do. It’s also great for sleeping. There are lights, but only where necessary so you sleep well. We had a rehearsal dinner here and rented the pavilion. The staff placed ever parking and directed people to parking spaces. The WiFi is not great, but we couldn’t get service until we were almost halfway to Honesdale, so wifi issues might not be the park’s issue. We will be back and look forward to that visit!
Honesdale KOA really is a beautiful area nestled in the Pocono mountains. The nature here takes me back to my youth of camping trips with the Girl Scouts. Upon arrival, the campground is gated, and feels much like an HOA Fort Knox. There are two buttons to push for access although we weren’t sure what to do so I called the front desk, and the lady on the phone told me she could see me on camera, and that if I get back in our motorhome, she would open the gate. That had me somewhat unnerved. I’m sure there’s plenty of wildlife, etc…but upon check in I realized that’s probably not it. The lady at the front desk, medium length grey hair did not greet me coming in, she asked if I was checking in. No smile, no mention of local things or park events. She did however say that there’s a waivers must sign. It was described to be for “photo” release but it’s a bit more than that. I’ve included photos for reference. There was another rule sheet for the pool though I said I wouldn’t be swimming, so I skipped that step. The park itself needs landscaping, and general maintenance. Our sewer hookup was held in place by a rock because there was no screw on pipe fitting. The price wasn’t bad, but I think I’ll skip the crazy here next koa trip. There was one man at the dumpster when we left who was friendly and thanked us for staying. He should be in the office, or at least a friendlier face coming in. It seems looking through other reviews we are far from alone on that thought. We’ve been to koas and campgrounds all across this country and never have come across this rigid feel. If you like relaxed, this is not it. I was also told they don’t give out gate keys for one night. Luckily we didn’t plan on unhooking our tow vehicle so I didn’t have to worry about disputing that. Also, the price is higher considering that there is no trash pickup. For a simple campground without extras we usually pay 45-55 dollars. We payed 76 plus tax for a pull through full hookup site on gravel. I don’t mind paying higher fees for a site, but it better have bells, and whistles with it.
Great spot for campers or tent camping. Super clean facilities, tons of activities for children, and interactive staff. My only complaint is the fire rings are far too small if you plan on cooking on fire. Besides that, this place is great!
