Horseshoe Acres Campground Introduce
For residents of Vermont and visitors looking to immerse themselves in the authentic charm of the Green Mountain State, Horseshoe Acres Campground stands as a beacon of traditional outdoor hospitality. Nestled in the rolling hills of Andover, this sprawling 100-acre park has long been a favorite for those who appreciate a slower pace of life. It is more than just a place to park an RV or pitch a tent; it is a community-oriented destination where the focus remains on family bonding, neighborly spirit, and the quiet beauty of the Vermont landscape. Whether you are a local Vermonter seeking a nearby weekend retreat or a traveler exploring the winding roads of Windsor County, Horseshoe Acres offers a welcoming atmosphere that feels like stepping back into a simpler time.
The campground is characterized by its vast open spaces, shaded groves, and a layout that caters to a diverse range of camping styles. From the seasoned traveler in a high-end motorhome to the adventurous family in a pop-up camper, the park provides an environment that balances social activity with private relaxation. The management at Horseshoe Acres is known for their "old-fashioned" approach to service, prioritizing guest comfort and maintaining a clean, safe environment for children and pets alike. With a seasonal schedule packed with live music and community events, the campground transforms into a lively hub of activity throughout the summer months while maintaining its peaceful Adirondack-style roots.
Location and accessibility are key components of the Horseshoe Acres experience. The campground is situated at 1978 Weston-Andover Rd in Andover, VT, placing it strategically between the historic towns of Chester and Weston. This central location in Southern Vermont makes it incredibly accessible for locals across the state. Travelers typically reach the park via Route 11 or Route 103, enjoying a scenic drive through some of Vermont’s most picturesque small towns. Despite its secluded, wooded feel, the campground is only a short drive from major regional attractions, ensuring that guests can enjoy the tranquility of the forest without being completely isolated from modern conveniences.
Accessibility within the park is also a priority. The main areas of the campground, including the office, pool, and recreational facilities, are designed to be easily reachable. The park features wheelchair-accessible restrooms, ensuring that all family members can enjoy their stay comfortably. For those traveling with larger vehicles, the park offers wide sites near the main office, though it is often recommended that owners of "big rigs" or exceptionally long trailers consult with the staff when booking to ensure they are assigned a site that accommodates their specific turning radius and height requirements. The onsite parking is ample, allowing for easy transitions from the road to your home base in the woods.
The services offered at Horseshoe Acres Campground are comprehensive, aimed at providing everything a modern camper needs for a seamless stay. The facility specializes in RV camping but maintains its versatility for various types of outdoor enthusiasts. By providing essential hookups and on-site support, the campground allows guests to focus on making memories rather than worrying about logistics.

- Reliable RV water and sewer hookups to support self-contained travel trailers and motorhomes.

Features and highlights are what truly set Horseshoe Acres apart from other regional parks. The campground is designed with a "resort" mentality that emphasizes active play and community engagement. The highlight for many is the weekend activity schedule, which often features live DJs, local bands, and themed parties that bring all the campers together around a central dance floor or community campfire.
- A large 20x40 swimming pool that serves as the heart of the campground during the warm Vermont summers.
- Extensive on-site hiking trails that wind through the 100-acre property, offering glimpses of local wildlife and mountain views.
- Family-centric amenities including a playground, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, and a dedicated games room with pool tables.
- A kid-friendly environment featuring organized crafts, T-shirt painting, and nature-themed activities on the weekends.
- A pet-friendly policy that allows dogs to join in on the family vacation, with plenty of room for walks.
- Close proximity to the Vermont Country Store in Weston and the world-class skiing and adventure zones at Okemo and Bromley mountains.

When deciding on a campground in the Vermont region, one might ask what is worth choosing Horseshoe Acres over a more modern or commercialized RV park. The answer lies in the unique "step back in time" experience it provides. Many guests return year after year because they value the sense of community that the seasonal campers and staff have built over decades. It is a place where your neighbors quickly become your friends, and where kids can safely ride their bikes through the park and meet other children in the playground. The atmosphere is unpretentious and genuinely friendly, a hallmark of true Vermont hospitality.
Furthermore, Horseshoe Acres is worth choosing for its unbeatable location. You are nestled in the quietude of Andover, yet you are minutes away from the Weston Playhouse for theater, Lowell Lake for boating, and the eclectic shops of Chester for a day of browsing. It serves as a perfect home base for exploring the Southern Green Mountains while providing a quiet, shaded sanctuary to return to at night. If you are looking for a place that values tradition, family fun, and the natural beauty of the outdoors, Horseshoe Acres Campground is the definitive choice for your next Vermont adventure.

I had a wonderful time this weekend with Jonie and Phil. I met some great people there. Shout out to Peter and Mary. Thanks for the dinner....Phil was the one who worked hard to make sure that the sound system was correct. He even made it available to listen to the bands on 107.9 radio. Great job Phil 👏.
Stayed here with my wife and 2 dogs over a non-holiday weekend, July 2025. First time here and came with a travel trailer and stayed near the office/pool/etc.. Very nice wide sites. No cell service but wifi was great in our location. Seasonal's were so nice to us and our dogs and we made friends right away. Park is older but beautiful. Walked the entire park a couple times. Friday night seemed to be a time that Seasonal's hung out together at campfires and they made us feel welcome. Saturday night was a DJ with great music. We enjoyed it immensely. Overall, it is a great campground, a little older and old fashioned people and service. It's ok to step back in time, go a little slow and relax. If you keep that in mind, you will have a great time too. We will return for another weekend soon.
It's been three months since we were here and I often think about this place. The owners/family made us feel welcome when we were homesick and exhausted from traveling for the past few months. The activities that their full-timers host on the weekends are full of hilarity! The campground is pretty well maintained. The internet is the best internet experience that I've had at any campground. They loaned me a drill when mine decided to die. They had no issues with me receiving packages which was incredible because I needed to get caught up on regular life supplies and there were a lot of packages! We stayed here a month and toured the whole state. They gave me directions to the best sunset (MT Ascutney fyi). Told me the best place to buy groceries and get an oil change. Vermont is one of my favorite states now and most of it is due to this campground. If you need a peaceful place to stay you should choose this one! I'll always remember this place and maybe one day I'll get to come back. From the mom of five from Louisiana-thanks for everything!
My parents own this place so I may be considered a biased reviewer. However, I can say with undisputed doubt that this is a great place to be for the summer. There is a pool, mini golf, hiking, at least 5 different playgrounds spread throughout, a pond where you can use provided paddle boats and there is a trout fishing derby once a year, beautiful streams and woods, and 97 acres of nature. I stayed for a weekend and didnt want to leave. There are options for weekend campers and seasonal campers.
Spent one night while visiting in the area. The campground was off the beaten path. The owner was very friendly. The campground is on two sides of the highway. On one side is the office, playground, pool, and most of the campers are full-timers. Across the highway is a large building with restrooms and showers, another group of full-timers and room for other campers. If we were in the area we would consider spending another night.
