Jamaica Cottage Shop, Inc. Introduce
For those in Vermont who appreciate the timeless beauty of traditional craftsmanship, Jamaica Cottage Shop, Inc. stands as a premier destination for high-quality outdoor structures. Located in the scenic heart of South Londonderry, this company has built a reputation over nearly three decades for creating "special sanctuaries" that reflect the rugged yet elegant spirit of the Green Mountain State. Founded in 1995, the shop specializes in the centuries-old post and beam construction method, using native rough-sawn lumber to produce cottages, cabins, and tiny houses that are as durable as they are aesthetically pleasing.
The philosophy at Jamaica Cottage Shop is centered on making beautiful, functional buildings accessible to everyone. Whether you are looking for a fully finished tiny home to live in year-round or a rugged "sugar shack" for your maple syrup hobby, their designs prioritize longevity and classic New England style. By utilizing historically proven structural methods, the shop ensures that every building adds value and character to the Vermont landscape. This commitment to quality has allowed them to grow from a small local operation into a manufacturer that has shipped over 10,000 buildings across North America, all while maintaining their roots as a Vermont-grown business.
Location and accessibility are key factors for local customers who wish to experience the craftsmanship firsthand. The facility is situated at 170 Winhall Station Road in South Londonderry, VT 05155. This picturesque location serves as both a manufacturing hub and a display yard where visitors can walk through various models to see the scale and quality of the woodwork. Being nestled in Southern Vermont, the shop is easily accessible via scenic local routes, making it a popular stop for residents from nearby Manchester, Stratton, and Brattleboro who are planning their next homestead project.
For those living further afield, the shop has mastered the logistics of cottage delivery. They offer a unique "kit" system where buildings are pre-cut, color-coded, and flat-packed into self-contained "bricks" for easy shipping. Within a 200-mile radius of their facility, many pre-cut kits qualify for free delivery, a major benefit for Vermont homeowners. For those who prefer a turnkey solution, fully assembled buildings can be delivered directly to prepared sites throughout the Northeast. The shop’s delivery teams are known for their precision, often going to great lengths to place structures perfectly on difficult terrain while respecting the homeowner's property and gardens.

What is worth choosing at Jamaica Cottage Shop is the sense of "build pride" that comes with every project. For many Vermont families, building a cottage kit becomes a rewarding group activity that results in a structure that can last for generations. Reviewers frequently mention that the instructions are so thorough that even those who only know "which end of the hammer to hold" can find success. The shop is also worth choosing for its exceptional commitment to customer satisfaction; stories of the production manager driving hours to hand-fix a minor door alignment issue are a testament to their "go the distance" service culture.
Furthermore, the value of their products often surpasses what is found at big-box chains. Because they source lumber locally and sell directly to consumers, they are able to keep costs low without sacrificing the high-quality, full-dimensioned lumber that Vermont is famous for. Choosing a Jamaica Cottage building means supporting local tradesmen and sustainable forestry while gaining a beautiful, functional addition to your property. Whether you need a simple woodshed or a grand 4-season log cabin, this shop provides the expertise and materials to turn a vision of a rural retreat into a tangible, long-lasting reality.

Customer Reviews
We bought a Gable shed kit and my wife and I had a lot of fun building it over a couple of weeks. Instructions were detailed and very thorough. Great looking shed and good to feel sense of build pride every time we look at it.
When our Florida Room had a door that didn't quite fit snugly, Jamaica Cottage sent a repair crew 3+ hours from VT to our home in southeast New Hampshire, realized they couldn't repair the problem, ordered a replacement door and sent their production manager himself back again once the new door came in. He and his coworker spent hours carefully rebuilding the frame to create a perfect, bug-free fit. I'm not sure I've ever encountered a company as willing to literally go the distance to make sure we were satisfied.
Very happy with the buildings I’ve purchased from Jamaica Cottage Shop. Well built and excellent customer service. I bought a 12x18 Sugar Shack and it leaked water and needed some additional support and the Jamaica Cottage Shop team drove 6 hours (one-way) to my camp in Maine twice to ensure it was properly fixed. I also bought the plans for the Writers Haven which came out really well too! All in all a positive experience here.
JCS is great. I ordered a fully assembled economy Vermonter. Delivery was super easy. The driver plopped it onto the gravel foundation, and made sure it was level. The ramp is heavy duty and can easily support my motorcycle. The shed is also very sturdy and solid.
We have purchased twice from Jamaica Cottage Shop and are in love with our little homestead we are building. We purchased a four season Xylia last year and it was incredibly well insulated and cozy and warm even through the coldest winter nights. This year we purchased a 3 season Vermont Cabin that we are assembling and are very happy with our decision to work with JCS again. Even through some twists in the road, the staff, Mashell and Nathan, were there every step of the way to ensure that all went smoothly.
