Ideal Campground Introduce
Ideal Campground stands as a welcoming gateway to the Adirondack Mountains, offering a tranquil yet accessible retreat for those looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Upstate New York. Located in the charming hamlet of Pottersville, this campground has long been a staple for families seeking a balanced outdoor experience. Under brand new ownership as of 2021, the park is currently undergoing a revitalization, blending its historic charm with modern upgrades designed to enhance the guest experience. Whether you are a seasoned camper who has visited for decades or a first-time visitor from the city looking for fresh mountain air, Ideal Campground provides a scenic and friendly environment that feels like a home away from home.
The park is uniquely positioned along the banks of the Schroon River and Trout Brook, providing a serene waterfront backdrop that is increasingly hard to find in more commercialized areas. The atmosphere at Ideal is intentionally family-oriented and community-driven. Long-term seasonal residents and weekend travelers alike take pride in the upkeep of the grounds, creating a clean and respectful neighborhood vibe. With its lush greenery and the gentle sound of the river in the background, it serves as the "ideal" spot to unplug from the digital world and reconnect with loved ones over a crackling campfire.
Location and Accessibility
Conveniently situated at 115 Valley Farm Rd, Pottersville, NY 12860, Ideal Campground offers an enviable location that balances seclusion with convenience. It is located just a short distance from the Adirondack Northway (I-87), making it exceptionally easy to reach for travelers driving north from Albany or Saratoga Springs. This strategic position allows guests to use the campground as a central hub for exploring the broader region. The bustling attractions of Lake George are only about 35 minutes to the south, while the majestic High Peaks and the Olympic legacy of Lake Placid are accessible within a similar drive to the north.
Accessibility is a key focus for the new management. The park features a wheelchair-accessible parking lot and level ground in many of the communal areas, ensuring that guests with mobility considerations can navigate the property with ease. On-site parking is plentiful and integrated into the campsite layouts, allowing for a smooth "hitch-to-pitch" process. Because the campground is nestled near the highway, it avoids the long, winding backroads that can often be a challenge for those towing large RVs or trailers, yet it remains far enough removed to maintain its peaceful, wooded ambiance.

Customer Reviews
Very nice campground under brand new ownership. Lots of upgrades coming but even for now there is fresh water, power and WiFi. It close to the highway which gives easy access to surrounding areas; ADK high peaks and lake George are each about 35 minutes either way. Campsite access to Schroon River. Bring your paddle boards and kayaks!
My family has been here over 15 yeats so when I found out it was being sold, naturally I was a little nervous. The news owners are very nice, family oriented people with a great vision on what they plan doing with this campground. The first year they owned it they put in a big basketball court for the children and next year is a pool. I heard of other things they are planning and if this happens, it will be the best spot to go with your family. The grounds are kept beautiful and the campers really care about the upkeep of their sites. I am thinking about buying a new trailer and getting a site next to my moms. Here's to 2021!!
My Family and I absolutely love this place. We are seasonal campers. The owner (Linda) is fantastic. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful! So glad we found this gem!
Great place to camp. River and Brook are right at your doorstep. Close to hiking as well. Linda and Leroy are good managers/owners and everyone is friendly. It’s dog friendly too!
Up and coming with new owner. We just visited to tour. They are doing improvements, and will absolutely need a LOT more activities for the kids, but it seems like the new owners are trying.
