Lake Williams Campground Association, Inc. Introduce

Lake Williams Campground Association, Inc. is a premier outdoor destination located in the tranquil town of Lebanon, Connecticut. Nestled along the southwest shore of the expansive 272-acre Lake Williams, this campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty and community-focused recreation. For decades, it has served as a sanctuary for local Connecticut residents and travelers alike who are seeking a true lakeside experience. Unlike many larger, corporate-run facilities, Lake Williams Campground maintains a charm that emphasizes the great outdoors, providing a serene environment where the rustling of leaves and the gentle lapping of lake water provide the soundtrack to your stay.

The campground is part of a larger community ecosystem where the lake serves as the central hub for all activities. Managed with a focus on cleanliness and guest satisfaction, the association takes great pride in maintaining the grounds to high standards. Visitors often remark on the pristine condition of the facilities, from the manicured campsites to the well-kept bathhouses. Whether you are a seasoned RV enthusiast or a family looking to introduce your children to the joys of tent camping, Lake Williams Campground Association, Inc. provides a welcoming atmosphere that feels both safe and secluded. It is a place where seasonal neighbors become lifelong friends, and short-term visitors often find themselves returning year after year to recapture the peace found on the shores of Williams Pond.

Located at 1742 Exeter Rd, Lebanon, CT 06249, the campground is situated in the heart of "Mystic Country," a region of Connecticut known for its rolling farmlands and historic charm. Accessibility is a key advantage for local users; the site is easily reached via Route 207 (Exeter Road), which connects to major state arteries like Route 2 and Route 85. This makes it a convenient getaway for residents of Hartford, Manchester, and Norwich, all of whom can reach the campground in under 45 minutes. Despite its proximity to these urban centers, the final approach to the campground through Lebanon’s scenic corridors immediately signals a shift into vacation mode.

The facility is designed to accommodate various types of travelers. While it is a popular spot for seasonal site owners who keep their RVs there throughout the spring and summer months, the campground also welcomes transient guests. The layout is optimized for convenience, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a dedicated parking lot to ensure that the beauty of the lake is accessible to all guests. For those arriving with larger rigs, the park offers sites that can accommodate a range of RV lengths, with electrical and water hookups strategically placed for ease of setup.

  • RV and tent camping sites with various hookup options including electric and water.
  • Dedicated boat launch for campers, providing direct access to the 272-acre lake.
  • Boat rentals, including canoes, kayaks, and rowboats, for those who want to explore the water.
  • Propane filling station located on-site for the convenience of RV travelers and grill enthusiasts.
  • Comprehensive camp store stocked with essential supplies, snacks, and camping gear.

The highlights of Lake Williams Campground Association, Inc. revolve almost entirely around its spectacular waterfront location. Lake Williams is a diverse ecosystem teeming with wildlife, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and nature photographers. For the kids, the playground serves as a social hub where new friendships are forged over swings and slides.

  • Private swimming beach with clear water and a sandy area for sunbathing and building sandcastles.
  • Premier bass fishing opportunities; the lake is known for largemouth bass, pickerel, and perch.
  • A dedicated "doggy beach" area, making it one of the most pet-friendly campgrounds in the region.
  • Planned community activities and events, such as hayrides, pancake breakfasts, and live DJ nights.
  • Proximity to local hiking and biking trails throughout the Lebanon and Colchester area.
  • Safe and controlled environment that is excellent for children to ride bikes and explore.

We visited as guests of campsite owners who graciously got permission from their neighbors to allow us to tent camp nearby. As we were the only tent campers in the entire facility, we also were the only ones using the bath-house and showers. I have to glow-up the showering situation, for 25¢, much to my surprise, we got enough perfectly temperatured water to wash body and my long fussy curly girlie hair. We expected to have to clean the bath-house ourselves because we were the only ones using it, but were surprised in a happy way to find that some wonderful elf had come in and swept/mopped/refilled paper towel when we weren't noticing.

The bathrooms were terrible. It's a country bumpkin place no doubt. Yet, if you're looking for some quiet time on a lake or quiet country roads the this will do. I'd not tent here but if you are self contained i.e. RV and don't mind using your own facilities then this is a good place. It's quiet and right on the lake, good place for small kids to catch Sunfish and enjoy the lake, great views of the country and if you cycle then Route 207 is a good route, decent shoulders and challenging hills. Again, if you use your own facilities this is a good place, if you need to use theirs don't come here.

Due to new management the camp has transformed over the past 6 years. Customer service has improved greatly, the park is always tended to (gravel being put down on roads, trees trimmed, electrical wires fixed), and there are now many fun-filled events on weekends. We highly welcome both newcomers and anyone in the past who may have had a sub par experience to join us for a weekend and discover the place you soon will be calling, your home away from home
