Acorn Acres Campground Introduce
For Connecticut residents searching for a peaceful escape into the woods without leaving the comfort of the state, Acorn Acres Campground in Bozrah serves as a premier destination. Nestled on 100 enchanting wooded acres in the heart of Southeastern Connecticut’s "Mystic Country," this campground is designed to be a "camper-centric" oasis. It caters to a wide variety of outdoor enthusiasts, from those who prefer the rugged simplicity of a tent to travelers seeking a full-service RV experience. Unlike many seasonal sites that close their gates in the autumn, Acorn Acres is a year-round facility, offering local families the rare opportunity to experience the magic of winter camping and the vibrant colors of the New England fall foliage.
The atmosphere at Acorn Acres is defined by its strong sense of community. Frequent visitors and seasonal campers often describe the environment as feeling like a large, extended family. This welcoming spirit makes it an ideal choice for first-time campers who might be intimidated by the logistics of a wilderness trip. The grounds are meticulously maintained, balancing the preservation of natural forested beauty with modern amenities that ensure safety and comfort. Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway to recharge or an extended stay to immerse yourself in the local culture of the Quiet Corner, this campground offers a versatile backdrop for creating lasting memories.
Location and Accessibility
Acorn Acres Campground is located at 135 Lake Road in Bozrah, CT, a location that places it conveniently close to some of the state's most popular attractions while maintaining a secluded, "hidden gem" feel. It is just a short drive from the historic town of Norwich and within 20 minutes of the shoreline, Foxwoods Resort Casino, and Mohegan Sun. For those coming from other parts of the state, it is approximately 30 minutes from Hartford and 50 minutes from New Haven, making it an accessible retreat for a quick Friday-afternoon departure.
Accessibility is a priority at the campground. The facility features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a paved parking lot designed to accommodate large vehicles. The restrooms and main gathering areas are also built with accessibility in mind, ensuring that all guests can enjoy the facilities. For RV owners, the park is "big-rig friendly," with wide access roads and sites designed to handle large slide-outs without feeling cramped or crowded. Its proximity to Route 82 and Interstate 395 means you can enjoy the tranquility of the forest without the stress of navigating difficult backroads.

What is Worth Choosing
When deciding where to spend your vacation time in Connecticut, Acorn Acres is worth choosing specifically for its exceptional community atmosphere and its versatility. If you are a family with young children, the "scent" of adventure is everywhere—from the playground and pool to the unique animal-themed hikes. The fact that the sites are "extremely large" compared to many other commercial campgrounds in the region means you have the privacy and space to enjoy your own campfire without being right on top of your neighbors.
Additionally, for those who don't own an RV but want to enjoy the lifestyle, the air-conditioned cabins are an excellent "middle ground" option. They provide the comfort of four walls and a roof while keeping you immersed in the 100-acre forest. Finally, the year-round availability makes it a top choice for local residents who want to experience the quiet solitude of the Connecticut woods during the "off-season," providing a completely different perspective on the beauty of our state’s landscape. Whether it's for a summer splash or a winter retreat, Acorn Acres stands out as a well-maintained, friendly, and deeply authentic New England camping experience.

Customer Reviews
This was my family’s first time staying at a campground just based on Google searches and proximity to the activities we wanted to do. I had no idea what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised.I don’t know why the cute trail with cardboard animals isn’t more advertised but it was so fun and a great surprise! The property is clearly very well maintained and cleaned. The campground itself is amazing. That being said, the actual seasonal/other campers are what truly made our trip. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was so incredibly nice, welcoming, and felt like immediate friends. (Yes you, Sue and Scott❤️)Within a few hours we were welcomed by many other campers who then continued to always say Hello. The community makes it or breaks it and these people made it. Definitely worth a stay!!
At Acorn Acres everyone is like family. Always something fun and special going on. It is the most beautiful campground I’ve ever been to. I have been seasonal here for 13 years and it’s just an amazing place to be. The campground is well maintained and all of the people running it work very hard and so kind.
Nice camp ground. Great staff, questionable residents. Camps for rent are so basic, no amenities, no water, no bathroom, and prison style bed set up. The ground would have been more comfortable than the illusion of a bed. Only good part was no bugs inside the 4 wood walls and there was electricity.
Old fashion family camping at its best. Great place to get back to family fun and activities. The staff is friendly and helpful. Fellow campers are so friendly and welcoming. I drove up from Florida and spent the whole season here. I'm definitely coming back next season. One of my favorite events was the neon lite party. Great DJ, glow painting, ice cream floats so much fun.
It's an amazing experience. Very beautiful scenery with plenty of resources and welcoming people.
