Little Lake Campground Introduce
For New York residents looking to trade the skyscraper views for the rolling vistas of the northern Catskill Mountains, Little Lake Campground offers a rustic yet accommodating sanctuary. Located in the town of Jefferson within Schoharie County, this 101-acre property has been serving the local community and regional travelers since it was established in 1999. The campground was thoughtfully designed to preserve much of the area's natural habitat, providing a "little slice of heaven" where the air is fresh and the night skies are remarkably clear. For those living in the busier hubs of the state, such as Albany or the lower Hudson Valley, a trip to Little Lake represents a traditional camping experience that emphasizes relaxation, self-initiated play, and the timeless beauty of the Appalachian highlands.
The facility is situated in the southern part of the Catskills, a region renowned for its deep forests and historical significance. Little Lake Campground caters to a diverse range of campers, from those pulling modern, high-tech RVs to the purists who prefer to spend their nights under canvas in a secluded wooded lot. The owners have cultivated an environment that encourages guests to slow down; while there are modern conveniences like high-speed Wi-Fi, the core of the experience is built around the glassy pond, the quiet hiking trails, and the warmth of a community campfire. It is a place where Pennsylvania and New York neighbors often meet, sharing stories over fishing lines or during the various seasonal events that mark the summer calendar.
Location and accessibility are major benefits for visitors planning their journey. Situated at 146 Porter Road in Jefferson, NY, the campground is easily reached from several major New York cities—sitting roughly an hour from Albany and just over an hour and twenty minutes from Kingston and Utica. The accessibility features are integrated into the grounds to ensure a wide range of guests can enjoy the facilities. The campground provides wheelchair-accessible entrance points and designated parking lots, ensuring that the main activity areas remain reachable for those with mobility considerations. On-site parking is standard, allowing families to keep their vehicles close to their equipment for easy access to supplies throughout their stay.

The resort also emphasizes its role as a "good for kids" destination by offering kid-friendly hikes that aren't too strenuous for younger explorers. Hiking enthusiasts will appreciate that the 101-acre property contains various trails that showcase the native flora and fauna of the region, allowing for hours of exploration without ever having to leave the grounds.

What is worth choosing when it comes to Little Lake Campground is the authenticity of the experience. It is a family-built and family-operated business that prioritizes the personal touch. While larger, more corporate campgrounds might offer a fast-paced resort feel, Little Lake focuses on the quality of the "getaway." It is worth choosing for the camper who wants modern hookups in a setting that still feels like the middle of the woods. The dedication to preserving the natural landscape means you are often sharing your space with local wildlife, from white-tailed deer to various species of mountain birds.
Furthermore, its strategic location makes it an excellent home base for exploring the wider Schoharie and Delaware County areas. You can spend your morning antiquing in nearby towns or visiting a local winery, and then return to the quiet of your campsite for a peaceful evening. The inclusion of full 50-amp sewer, water, and electric hookups makes it particularly valuable for full-time RVers or those on long-haul trips through the Northeast. If you value a quiet, well-maintained, and respectful camping environment where you are treated as a guest in someone’s "little slice of heaven," this Jefferson destination is a standout choice for your next New York outdoor adventure.

First time going up there and what a joke, have 7 kids and nothing for the kids to do the pond looked disgusting not appropriate for swimming the Itty bitty playground they have is nothing, our breaker panel kept tripping and the major thing was the owners, they were never there hurried to check us in and left for hours, rude and very inappropriate to be yelling and screaming in front of my kids l. Would never suggest to go there!
Great place, well maintained, quiet and restful. Owners made us feel at home. Grassy pond beach with children's playground was inviting. Kayaks are available for the pond. Your activities are up to you to initiate. My type of a getaway. I'll be back.
I recently held a weekend-long celebration of my wedding at Little Lake Campground and I know that I struck gold by hosting the festivities in their pavilions and working with Tammy and Dan. They could not have been more kind, welcoming and generous with their time and talents. They truly went above and beyond to make sure that the weekend was successful, despite the best efforts of mother nature. If I needed anything or might need anything, they were always right there. I also appreciated Tammy's kind and encouraging words which helped me calm down and enjoy the process and the event. Tammy was super responsive during planning, as well as incredibly accommodating, which allowed us to hold a truly unique event for our guests. We camped with many of our guests, then stayed on our own for a few days afterwards. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the campground, and so many people commented on how beautiful the surrounding area is. The campground is quiet and peaceful, which we greatly appreciated in the days afterwards as we rested and recovered from the experience. I look forward to spending many nights under the stars at Little Lake Campground.
Camping has rules and we always respect others when we go. We are quiet after hours, we do not play corn hole until 1:00 a.m., we do not let our dogs bark all day long like seasonal.,,And we were warned about it..Years ago we had a good time when we went but this time the whole attitude was different. We just felt like seasonal people and your usual people can do as they please. We brought to you over $1000.00 and we did not feel welcome at all. WE WILL NOT BE BACK EVER AGAIN.not sure if you are just having a bad year or what and taking it out on us ,but I feel we were just as important as everyone else. Our money is green too.. Our Friends with the disabled child did not want to say a word and make trouble but were kept awake with your usual group with her crying all night so they packed up and went home with no sleep. Sorry if OUR GROUP caused you troubled ..Its not the point of getting along as you stated in my brothers post, its following the rules you stated.. quiet hours after 10 p.m. ,no dogs barking after a period of time . We were friendly with everyone. So I will not except that ..Actually I will not except any of your replies... We all are good quiet people and respect others and help others too..My friends said it was pretty .. I know they said they told you what you said only because they do not want to make trouble..they are like that.. I was not one of the people to move or to leave late, nor not to come, so you cannot judge me. The guy packing up ,his dog barked the whole time ..while I was trying to lay down , not that you care but my illness was acting up and I needed to rest.. it was unreal. ,,,I bet if it was mine you would have been upset... You were in a mood this year for some reason and you just do not want to admit it.. All I can say I is I hope you have a good winter and God bless you and have a good evening..
Our favorite place. We always enjoy our stays there. Clean, well kept, and very relaxing. I was shocked to read a review that it was noisy. We have never experienced that in the years we've been going there. Look forward to every trip we have booked.
