In addition to the physical amenities, the history of the site adds a layer of depth to every visit. Walking the same trails that scouts have used for nearly 80 years gives the property a sense of timelessness. My family and I just stayed a night at Fort Preble at Lone Tree and we had SO much fun! The building was so unique and kept the kids entertained all night. We had our own courtyard to run around in, plus the 2nd story of paths and play space. The bunk rooms had bunk beds (no bedding), lights, windows, smoke detectors, and lots of outlets. The grounds were clean and well-kept, with plenty of bathrooms and paths/trails. There was a rec room that had a pool table, air hockey, and games. We also enjoyed the basketball court, field (for soccer), and small playground. We spent 2 full days on the campground beach with access to docks, picnic tables, a hammock, canoes, kayaks, and life jackets of all sizes. The owner, Eric, was awesome! He gave us a personalized map of the grounds at check-in and also talked us through all the activities we had access to. He kept in contact with us through-out our visit via text message. He even stopped by, met my family, and hung out with us for a bit. Such a nice guy with big plans for the future of the campground. You can tell that he really loves running it.We highly recommend this place to anybody that wants to go camping. The sites range from pitch-a-tent to single family cabins with a kitchen and half bath. It's easy to find and not far from stores and gas stations.
My family and I love this place! We all roll deep with a large group. Extra tents were allowed at a reasonable price to accommodate all of us. Eric even hauled over extra tables. The kids and adults all got to enjoy the lake swimming, kayaking or fishing. But also the kids got lessons in archery and shooting BB guns. There’s a lot more to be explored here. Especially with it being a work in progress. We all will be back. So will our friends and family. Thanks for helping us make core memories.UPDATE: She said yes! I proposed to my fiancé here tonight.
We came here for a weekend get away and we left very relaxed and happy. We had the perfect camp spot right next to the lake, the workers there were very nice, chill and welcoming. The camp site is a great distance from some great restaurants, walmart, and gas stations. I would 10/10 recommend this camp site to everyone.Truly a great location.
What a great place to introduce the family to camping! With so many options for camping, from tents to camper parking, to huts, to full blown cottages; whatever your style, you will feel at home! The pond has a great sandy beach and whatever you need to enjoy the clear water. There’s also a playground and sports field to get extra energy out.Bath houses and sites were clean. The owner is friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to many more adventures there and sharing this gem with friends.
This place is amazing! A hidden gem! Eric was great to us (from showing us around and helping us start a campfire!)and we had a wonderful time! We will be back very soon for more adventures- highly recommend!
