Masonic Home Camp at Round Lake Introduce
For residents of New York looking to escape the hustle of city life, the Masonic Home Camp at Round Lake offers a profound connection to the natural beauty of the Adirondack Mountains. Located in the serene town of Woodgate, this sprawling 1,500-acre property has served as a sanctuary for generations. Known widely as the home of the renowned Camp Turk summer program, the facility transforms throughout the season to offer a unique blend of youth development and family-oriented recreation. It is a place where history meets modern relaxation, providing a well-groomed environment that honors its long-standing heritage within the New York State Masonic Fraternity while welcoming the broader community to experience the tranquility of Northern Oneida County.
The spirit of the camp is deeply rooted in the concept of creating lifelong memories. From its origins in the early 20th century, when it was established to give children from the Masonic Home in Utica a chance to enjoy the "fresh air" of the mountains, to its current status as a premier destination for families and youth, the camp has remained remarkably consistent in its mission. Visitors often describe a "warm fuzzy feeling" when arriving, a testament to the nostalgia and pristine wilderness that define the experience. Whether you are exploring the dense woods or enjoying the crystal-clear waters of Round Lake, the camp provides an immersive outdoor atmosphere that is increasingly rare in today’s digital age.
Location and accessibility are major highlights for New Yorkers planning their seasonal getaways. Situated at 6461 Round Lake Rd, Woodgate, NY 13494, the camp is approximately 45 minutes north of Utica and about four and a half hours from New York City. This strategic location makes it an ideal mid-point for residents across the state. The property is easy to navigate, featuring a wheelchair-accessible parking lot to ensure that guests of all mobility levels can access the main areas. Once on-site, the layout encourages exploration, with well-maintained paths that lead through the forest and down to the expansive waterfront, ensuring that the beauty of the Adirondacks is accessible to everyone.
The services offered at Masonic Home Camp at Round Lake are designed to provide a comprehensive and comfortable camping experience. Customer Reviews
My husband and I stayed at Camp Turk for the first time ( August 28th to 31st )We were met by the site manager Andy Croniser upon our arrival. Andy was super friendly and gave us a tour of our Cooks cabin rental. He explained everything we needed to know and the cabin was very clean and well kept. The grounds are beautiful and very well groomed. This was impressive as the camp is very spacious and the lake is awesome ( equipped with canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and peddle boats ) .There are campfire pits ( wood provided) along the lake front and walking paths in the woods. Bike paths are across the way. Andy was so helpful from our booking start and reached out to us numerous times to check on us during our stay. Camp Turk is a beautiful camp on Round lake in the Adirondacks. And the friendly hard working staff have kept it very clean and enjoyable.
This place definitely gives you memories that will last a lifetime. I get a warm fuzzy feeling every time I drive by the camp. I used to go every summer, in the mid-70s, and the memories that I had created, are priceless!!! I’m glad to see that this generation is able to enjoy what I did!! Simply AMAZING!! What I failed to also state was that in the 70s, my grandfather, William Terrill, ran the movie theater there every Friday night! So, I used to go up there every Friday night and watch movies up there as well with my grandpa.
We were delighted to be able to enjoy a week long stay and it was the perfect get away. We had some down time for hubby and me then the family joined us. They enjoyed peddle boating, paddle boat, rec center, kayaking, camp fires. Thank you to Andrew Croniser who was a pivotal part. He was wonderful and always ready to help in any way he could.
I love it here..Beautiful Camping
