Situated on the picturesque shores where Port Bay meets Lake Ontario, this family-owned and operated destination provides a quintessential camping experience. Whether you are arriving with a large motorhome, pitching a traditional tent, or looking for the comforts of a rental cabin, Port Bay serves as an ideal home base for exploring the scenic beauty of Wayne County and the vast expanse of the Great Lakes region.
The atmosphere at Port Bay is defined by its quiet, community-focused environment. Unlike larger, high-traffic commercial resorts, this park emphasizes relaxation and individual connection with nature. It has long been a favorite for seasonal campers who return year after year to enjoy the cooling breezes from Lake Ontario and the vibrant sunsets that paint the sky over the bay. The management team is known locally for their friendly, "above and beyond" hospitality, ensuring that every guest—from first-time visitors to seasoned anglers preparing for local tournaments—feels welcomed and supported throughout their stay.
Port Bay RV Park & Campgrounds is located at 8346 E Port Bay Rd, Wolcott, NY 14590, USA. This northern Wayne County location offers excellent accessibility for those traveling from major New York hubs. It is approximately an hour's drive from both Rochester and Syracuse, making it a perfect weekend getaway for urban residents looking to escape the bustle of the city. The park is situated at the end of a quiet road, which significantly reduces through-traffic and enhances the safety and serenity of the grounds. For those navigating larger RVs, the routes leading to Wolcott are well-maintained, providing a smooth journey through the rolling farmland and orchards characteristic of the Finger Lakes region.
Accessibility within the park is a priority, with features such as a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a dedicated accessible parking lot. What makes Port Bay RV Park & Campgrounds truly worth choosing is the balance of personal touch and pristine location. For the avid angler, the park provides the necessary infrastructure to support a successful fishing trip, including reliable power for boats and quick access to the water. For families, the presence of a library, playground, and hiking trails ensures that there is always something to do, even on a quiet afternoon. The "extra mile" service provided by the owners—such as helping guests with late check-ins or providing local advice on the best fishing spots—creates a sense of loyalty that you won't find at larger, corporate-run facilities.
Furthermore, the variety of accommodation types makes it a versatile choice for any group. If you don't own an RV, the rustic mobile homes and cabins provide a comfortable "glamping" experience that allows you to enjoy the outdoors without the need for specialized equipment. The high water pressure in the showers and the availability of affordable laundry services are small but significant luxuries that make a long-term stay much more comfortable. Ultimately, Port Bay is worth choosing because it delivers a genuine, peaceful New York camping experience where the focus is on the beauty of the lake and the quality of the company you keep.

Staying of the night before a fishing tournament. Power to keep boat plugged in. Quiet. Super friendly staff that checked me in. Went above and beyondWill definitely stay again.Thank you
Such a nice, quiet place to stay. The bathhouse has bagged ice for sale and amazing water pressure for a steamy shower. The washer and dryer fee is cheaper than the laundry mat! And there's a rather large library within the bathhouse. I read about 7 books this summer while staying here! There's also chopped wood for sale by the bundle!!The beach is such a short walk away and it's almost a private beach given that it's at the end of a dead end road.My family and I had a great summer at Port Bay campground! I only wish it were open past October 14th (lol)The family is so nice and accommodating, too!!
The small cabin was a perfect stay for my birthday with my significant other. Nice and close to water for an early morning stroll. The owners were super nice and had their kids deliver firewood before our arrival. Wifi was available and cabin had all the necessary amenities for a weekend stay. Will definitely be going back for more visits to this campground. To clarify this was from last year. Have been in the area since and yes the owners have done a great deal of updating and improving on the campground.
Very bad location and the campsite had a LOT of bugs and i mean A lotof bugs got bit like crazy staff was also never there but they were nice but they did accommodate
Not sure this can be qualified as a campground. Some people may love it, but if you are a family traveling with young kids just know that you will be camped right next to residents in their mobile homes…like literally right on top of them. It made us extremely uneasy to be parked in their front yard, although they are accustomed to it, it felt rude to be in their space. Zero amenities, it’s just a spot, and the electric was on the wrong side so our cable wouldn’t even reach. Ended up calling a place an hour up the road and finding suitable accommodations for the family. It’s very poorly marked from the road- and if you miss it, like we did, you have to back the camper up from a dead end road lined with houses…not fun. I sound like a Karen, but just do your research, I’m sure the owners and residents are nice, but it’s not what we were expecting for our family vacation.
