  • What is Worth Choosing

When deciding where to spend your outdoor time in Maryland, Sandy Hill Family Camp is worth choosing if you value peace, quiet, and a personal touch. While larger state parks offer great trails, they often come with crowded facilities and strict regulations that can feel impersonal. Sandy Hill offers the warmth of a family-run business where the owners genuinely care about your experience. It is specifically worth choosing for those who enjoy "river life"—if your ideal vacation involves crabbing off a pier, launching a boat directly from your campground, or simply watching the tide change from your RV window, this is the place for you.

Furthermore, it is an excellent choice for Marylanders who want to be near the beach attractions of Ocean City (46 miles away) or the wild ponies of Assateague (40 miles away) without having to stay in the middle of the coastal congestion. You get the benefits of the Eastern Shore's best attractions during the day and a quiet, riverfront sanctuary to return to at night. With its reasonable pricing, clean facilities, and unmatched sunset views, Sandy Hill Family Camp remains one of the best-kept secrets for camping in Maryland.

Very nice family owned and operated campground. Located at the end of a dead end road out in the country. It is very quiet and peaceful. My dog and I love it here. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. They even help setup my RV when I got here. They operate a small store on the property that sells basic RV supplies, snacks, drinks, and fill propane tanks. It is nice to get to walk around the property with my dog, especially watching sunsets over the Nanticoke River. Then of course we have that dead end road to take long walks on to stretch our legs.

To say this was a great camping trip would be an understatement. Everyone at the Campground treated you like family. The views were amazing. My family had a fantastic time. The weather was perfect. One of the few places left that has reasonably priced sites and store items. Super flat sites, too! We'll definitely be returning.

Sandy Hill campground it's the most wonderful Campground around! The owners, Sue and Carsten, have a true passion for making sure that every camper has a good time. They always give back to the community by helping the West Side Fire Department fundraisers and also helping anyone in need. The campground is beautiful and really clean. Everyone seems to be smiling but having a good time. Highly recommend!
