What is Worth Choosing
Shady Rest Campground stands out as a top choice for Pennsylvania locals because of its exceptional balance of convenience and customer care. Real-world experiences from regular visitors often highlight the "above and beyond" service provided by the management, such as helping late arrivals navigate in the dark or providing forgotten equipment like water hoses. This level of hospitality creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes guests feel like part of a local community rather than just temporary visitors.
Furthermore, the year-round operational status makes it an invaluable asset for those who love Pennsylvania winters. Being able to park an RV in a heated, fully-serviced environment while enjoying the nearby slopes of Elk Mountain is a major advantage for local skiers. For families, the combination of a safe playground, creek access for swimming, and the ability to bring the family dog makes it a stress-free destination. Customer Reviews
We stopped in for one night while traveling north. Came in late and were greeted when we got there. They loaned us a hose because we forgot ours. Helped us get to the site in the dark. Great customer service! We will definitely come back and stay a few days. Sites of different sizes and a lot of trees. Very nice place.
Stayed here overnight in our way home. The campground is clean and quiet. It is decently close to I 81 but not within earshot. All services and facilities are in good condition. The campground was easy to access and was just what we needed to break up the trip.
Loved our spur of the moment stay here. Came up to visit some old haunts and Shady Rest was perfect for that. Wonderful owner, large, clean sites, plenty of firewood for purchase. True “Mom & Pop” type of campground. A gem :)
While Bikepacking, we arrived on very heavy bikes. To our surprise, the office was closed, however, the owner "Sandy" had our paperwork ready for us on the office door. We felt at ease knowing that Sandy did not forget about us.She exceeded our expectations to the highest level & we will always be grateful for her kindness & grace! The campgrounds are clean & quiet. After setting camp, Sandy paid us a visit making sure we were comfortable. She truly is a pro!Thank you Sandy for your help in the check in process & all you did to make us feel like being home...God bless,Rose & RaulFrom Clifton, NJ
This was a night stopover on our way elsewhere — and it was perfect. Next time we will plan a couple days. Beautifully kept — exceptionally quiet — nice staff — we loved it!!
