Shore Forest Campground Introduce

Shore Forest Campground stands as a premier destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts seeking a blend of relaxation and engagement in the northeastern region of Pennsylvania. Nestled on 75 acres of picturesque landscape within the heart of the Endless Mountains, this campground provides a scenic backdrop for a variety of camping experiences. Whether you are an avid RV traveler or a family looking for a rustic cabin retreat, Shore Forest is designed to offer a "back to basics" experience without sacrificing the comforts that make a vacation memorable. The park is well-regarded for its vibrant community atmosphere, often making visitors feel like part of the family from the moment they arrive.

The campground is a mix of transient sites and a dedicated seasonal community, which contributes to a stable and welcoming environment. Local Pennsylvanians often choose Shore Forest for its balance of quiet nights and active weekends. The grounds are characterized by mature shade cover and level sites, providing a comfortable foundation for any camping setup. Managed with a focus on family-friendly fun, the park offers a structured calendar of events that ensures there is always something to do, ranging from traditional hayrides to modern pool parties.

Shore Forest Campground is located at 121 The Driveway, Hop Bottom, PA 18824. It is strategically positioned to offer a secluded woodland feel while remaining highly accessible for regional travelers. For those coming from the Scranton area, the campground is approximately a 30-minute drive, making it an excellent option for a quick weekend getaway or a long-term seasonal home. The surrounding Susquehanna County area is known for its rolling hills and rural charm, providing a peaceful escape from the hustle of city life.

Accessibility is a key priority for the park, which features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, and restrooms to accommodate all guests. While the roads within the campground are designed to be manageable for most travel trailers and RVs, the park's natural terrain includes some narrow and curvy sections that add to its rustic appeal. On-site parking is ample, and the layout is designed to allow easy access to the central recreation and service areas.

  • Full-hookup RV sites including water, sewer, and electric (30-amp and 50-amp options available).
  • Dedicated tent camping sites that are large, grassy, and equipped with electrical and water hookups.
  • Rental cabins that provide "little cabins in the woods" experiences, featuring basic kitchen amenities and sleeping for up to four people.
  • Clean and well-maintained bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets.
  • A small laundry room with functional washers and dryers for long-term convenience.
  • Free Wi-Fi hotspots located near the recreation hall to help guests stay connected.
  • Propane filling station and an on-site ice cooler to keep supplies stocked.
  • On-site camp store and snack bar offering souvenirs, snacks, and last-minute camping necessities.
  • Payment flexibility through credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments.

The features at Shore Forest Campground are centered on providing diverse recreational opportunities that cater to all ages. The 5-acre lake is a centerpiece for summer activities, offering a tranquil space for fishing and non-motorized boating. For those who prefer a more modern aquatic experience, the heated in-ground swimming pool and spa serve as popular gathering spots during the warmer months. The park’s commitment to organized fun is evident in its robust calendar of themed weekends and activities.

  • A 5-acre lake ideal for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing (no fishing license required on-site).
  • A heated in-ground swimming pool and a relaxing spa, open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
  • A dedicated playground and a game room that provides hours of entertainment for children and teens.
  • Weekend activities including bingo, hayrides with a vintage 1946 Massey Harris tractor, and wagon rides.
  • Themed events such as 4th of July fireworks, fishing tournaments, ice cream socials, and Halloween haunted forests.
  • Sports facilities including a basketball court, horseshoe pits, and a shuffleboard court.
  • A large recreation hall used for crafts, dinners, and community gatherings.
  • Pet-friendly policies that allow dogs, provided they are kept on a leash and cleaned up after.

What makes Shore Forest Campground worth choosing is the genuine sense of hospitality and the quality of the "forest" experience. In an era where many campgrounds are becoming overly modernized and crowded, Shore Forest manages to keep its "country" roots intact. The spaciousness of the sites—whether for a 31-ft travel trailer or a simple tent—ensures that you have the privacy and room to breathe that camping is meant to provide. For local Pennsylvania families, the affordability of the full hook-up sites combined with the wealth of free activities makes it an exceptional value.

Furthermore, the park's focus on maintaining clean facilities, particularly the bathhouses and the pool area, sets it apart from more primitive options. The ability to unplug and enjoy a quiet night under the stars, knowing that a hot shower and a well-stocked camp store are just a short walk away, offers the perfect balance for the modern camper. Choosing Shore Forest means choosing a place where you are treated like a regular even on your first visit, and where the natural beauty of the Endless Mountains is right at your doorstep. Whether you want to participate in every BINGO game or simply "do nothing at all" by the lake, this campground provides the ideal setting for making lasting memories.

My family and I stayed here for several nights in an RV.Pros: Sites are spacious. The electrical output was good. Campground is quiet at night and had some nice shade cover. Bathrooms were very clean. The tent sites near us were large and grassy with electrical hook-ups. They looked nice. There is a small laundry room. Though it looked like the one washing machine was broken, it worked just fine. $1.50 per wash and $1.50 per dryer load.Cons: We had absolutely zero internet or cell service. When I asked at the front office, they let me know I could sign into their guest wifi while standing near the rec hall to make calls. This did work, but it was beyond inconvenient. The water pressure was almost non-existent. It was enough to take showers, barely.Overall, I'd say this campground was worth the $45/night stay for a full hook-up site, despite some of the inconveniences. The park is over 75% seasonals, so keep that in mind if that kind of thing bothers you. We have a 31-ft travel trailer and it wasn't difficult getting in and out, but I wouldn't have attempted an RV much larger than that, as the roads are a bit narrow and curvy. Scranton is only 30 min away and there's plenty to do there.

Mostly loose rocks and gullies. In dire need of ground maintenance (lots of unnecessary tall grass and weeds) very unkempt look.Better signage. Not much "local" stuff to do.

Great place to take the kids. Outdoor swimming pool, play ground, activities for children and adults. Owners are wonderful and make you feel very welcome. Not many tent sites but the ones they have are clean and big. Hot free shower's, public campers toilets and very clean port-a-johns. Lake for fishing and boat rentals. Game room, small store and laundry room. All the veteran campers were friendly and polite.

Nice campground with pool and hot tub. Even though it's pretty tight you didn't feel cramped because of the trees. Gravel camper sites so bring a rug. We went on a weekend and there's a little of activities going on, bingo, wagon rides, pool party etc. If you're into schmoozing and boozing then you'll have a great time. Otherwise night time doesn't really settle until 11 and the pool was packed most of the day. Free WiFi was a great bonus too!
