Suncook River Campground Introduce
Suncook River Campground is a revitalized outdoor destination that offers a refreshing blend of traditional camping and modern "glamping" experiences. Located along a serene, slow-moving stretch of the Suncook River, this community-focused campground has recently undergone significant transformations under new ownership. The goal of the park is to provide an accessible entry point into nature for everyone, from seasoned RV travelers to families who have never spent a night in a tent. By focusing on cleanliness, inclusivity, and a diverse range of accommodations, it has quickly become a preferred getaway for residents of southern New Hampshire and neighboring regions.
The atmosphere at Suncook River Campground is defined by its peaceful riverfront setting and a "family-forward" philosophy. Spanning 22 acres of wooded and waterfront property, the park emphasizes a quiet, respectful environment where guests can disconnect from digital distractions and reconnect with the natural world. Whether you are looking for a weekend of tubing down the river or a cozy night in a luxury dome, the campground provides a well-managed space that balances rustic charm with essential modern comforts.
Location and accessibility are among the top reasons local travelers choose Suncook River Campground. Situated at 2 Fanny Drive in Suncook, NH (located within the town of Allenstown), the park is exceptionally well-positioned for quick escapes. It is approximately a 25-minute drive from Manchester and Concord, and roughly an hour from the greater Boston area. This makes it an ideal "short-haul" destination for those who want to maximize their vacation time rather than spending it on the road. The entrance and primary facilities are designed with accessibility in mind, featuring wheelchair-accessible parking, entrances, and restroom facilities to ensure all guests can enjoy the grounds comfortably.
Suncook River Campground offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to make the camping experience as seamless as possible. The owners have invested heavily in infrastructure upgrades, including expanded electrical capacity and renovated facilities, to support a variety of camping styles. For those who prefer "turnkey" camping, the park provides fully outfitted rentals, while traditional campers have access to well-maintained sites and utility hookups.
- Full-service RV camping with 30-amp and 50-amp electric hookups and water connections.
- Luxury glamping accommodations, including geodesic domes and furnished bell tents.
- Unique rental options such as vintage restored trailers and modern RV units.
- On-site camp store providing essential provisions, ice, and firewood.
- Sanitary dump station for RV travelers and modern, renovated bathhouse facilities with hot showers.
- Rental services for water activities, including kayaks, canoes, and river tubes.
- Scheduled community events and seasonal activities like BBQ competitions and outdoor movie nights.
The features and highlights of the campground center on the natural beauty of the Suncook River and the thoughtful amenities added by the management. The river itself serves as a centerpiece for recreation, moving slowly enough that a float from the upper beach to the lower beach takes nearly an hour, providing a relaxing "lazy river" experience right on the property. The park is also highly regarded for its kid-friendly environment, featuring a newly renovated playground and safe areas for children to explore.
- Two private river beaches perfect for launching kayaks, fishing, or swimming.
- An in-ground swimming pool with a new liner, sunshades, and lounging areas.
- Direct access to river tubing and paddling in a calm, beginner-friendly section of the Suncook River.
- Pet-friendly policies that allow leashed dogs to join the family adventure.
- Close proximity to Bear Brook State Park, New Hampshire's largest state park, offering miles of additional hiking and biking trails.
- Modern, "off-grid" glamping options that feature comfortable beds, heaters, and solar power packs for charging devices.
- Safe, well-lit common areas and a gated security system for peace of mind.
For those interested in booking a stay or learning more about seasonal site availability, the campground management is available through several contact channels. The park typically operates from mid-May through early November, following the standard New Hampshire camping season.

What makes Suncook River Campground worth choosing is the evident heart and effort the owners put into every detail of the guest experience. It is a destination that understands the needs of modern families. For parents, the "worth" lies in the convenience—the ability to show up to a fully set-up glamping dome or vintage camper means more time spent relaxing by the fire and less time struggling with tent poles and gear. The "hotel living in the woods" feel of their luxury rentals provides a comfortable compromise for those who love nature but prefer a real mattress and a clean shower.
Furthermore, the campground is a standout choice for its inclusivity and community spirit. It identifies as a woman-owned business and makes an explicit effort to welcome all types of families and travelers. The recent renovations have significantly improved the quality of the stay, from the sparkling blue pool to the upgraded electrical service that prevents the "flickering" issues common in older parks. For local New Hampshire residents, it serves as a reliable, high-quality neighbor—a place where you can enjoy a midweek river float or a weekend BBQ without having to travel to the North Country. Choosing Suncook River Campground means supporting a local business that is actively working to preserve and enhance a beautiful piece of New Hampshire's waterfront for future generations.

Customer Reviews
Just a short distance from greater Boston, Suncook River Campground is now our preferred getaway. You can choose from a variety of outfitted vintage RVs, glamping domes, yurt-style tents, or a BYO tent site.We stayed in one of the yurt/bell tents which had a queen bed, cots available for anyone with extra little ones, a faux wood stove space heater, and a lamp with shelves. We were very comfortable. The owners really thought of everything—they even provided a kettle and two mugs with pour-over coffee packets.Outside the tent we had our own little camp porch and picnic table. It was nice to set up in the morning drinking coffee and listening to the river. While we also had a fire pit, we were at the campground with friends so usually went to others’.You can purchase firewood and ice right at the camp, make use of kayaks and tubes for the river, and enjoy whatever occasional activities the owners have cooked up. We recently went up in the daytime to sample a bbq competition when we weren’t camping. There are also real showers and bathrooms. This place is a real gem!
An amazing stay at Suncook River Campground! My wife, two kids, and I recently stayed in one of the luxury dome tents at Suncook River Campground, and we honestly can’t say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we arrived, the owners made us feel completely welcome, warm, friendly, and genuinely excited to have us there. It felt less like checking into a campground and more like visiting old friends. The dome itself was spotless, beautifully set up, and so much fun for the kids, they loved having their own little adventure under the stars while still enjoying all the comforts of home. The river views were gorgeous, and there was so much to do, relaxing by the campfire, exploring the grounds, and spending quality time together without any distractions. You can tell the owners put their hearts into every detail here, and it really shows. This is the kind of place that makes you want to come back year after year. We left with happy kids, great memories, and big smiles. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a perfect mix of nature, comfort, and genuine hospitality.
It was my husband’s and my first time glamping and had a great time! Our dome had a beautiful view of the river and was adorable and with more comfortable furnishings than anticipated. Service was top/notch. We appreciated the text communication and ability to get things like firewood and ice delivered to our site. We had a great weekend!
We stayed two nights in the 1970s green camper and had the best time. The river view was unmatched at our site! We loved using the kayaks and paddleboard on the river. The sauna and hot tubs were a great place to relax and the kids LOVED the playground! We will be back!
The wife and I decided to go camping this past weekend and wanted to stay somewhere close. We decided to go to Suncook River Campground and we had a great time! They are a fairly new campground, but you can tell they care about their guests and their stay. They have tons of things for the kiddos to do . They had movies playing while Pizza was cooking on Saturday. The atmosphere was very chill, and the staff was amazing! They even have on site pump out station if you need to pump out your RV before you leave which was very convenient because some campgrounds don’t offer that.
