Thousand Trails Timothy Lake South Introduce
For outdoor enthusiasts living in or visiting Eastern Pennsylvania, the Pocono Mountains serve as a perennial playground of natural beauty and recreation. Tucked away in this scenic region is Thousand Trails Timothy Lake South, a versatile destination that functions as a campground, RV park, and recreation center. Located at 2043 Allegheny Ln, East Stroudsburg, PA 18302, USA, this community is widely recognized as a "modern version of a traditional campground." It offers a peaceful, wooded environment that caters to local families from the Lehigh Valley, Scranton, and the Philadelphia suburbs who are looking for a reliable home base to explore the Delaware Water Gap and the surrounding highlands.
Timothy Lake South is part of a duo of properties, sitting just a mile away from its sister site, Timothy Lake North. While the North site is seasonal, Timothy Lake South is known for being open year-round, making it a staple for those who enjoy the changing faces of Pennsylvania’s seasons—from the vibrant foliage of October to the quiet, snow-covered winters. The park spans a significant area, featuring over 300 sites that accommodate everything from standard tent camping to massive Class A motor coaches. The atmosphere is generally quiet and tranquil, especially during the shoulder seasons, providing a "truly peaceful escape" for those looking to swap city noise for the rustle of maple and pine trees.
Location and accessibility are among the top selling points for this East Stroudsburg gem. The park is situated approximately 12 miles northeast of the junction of I-80 and US-209, placing it firmly within the heart of Monroe County. For local users, the drive into the park is a scenic, windy journey that sets the tone for a mountain retreat. While the campground feels secluded, it remains only a short drive from the shopping, dining, and theaters of downtown Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg. Its proximity to Shawnee Mountain and Bushkill Falls makes it an ideal hub for weekend adventurers who want to spend their days on the slopes or hiking to the famous waterfalls of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
In terms of accessibility, the park is designed to be inclusive and easy to navigate for all guests. The main facilities, including the clubhouse and office, feature wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking lots. Furthermore, the restroom and shower facilities are equipped with wheelchair-accessible stalls, ensuring that the camping experience is available to visitors with diverse mobility needs. While the internal roads are paved, they reflect the rustic mountain setting, and travelers with larger rigs are encouraged to navigate with care. The layout of the RV sites is primarily gravel, offering level surfaces that make the setup process straightforward for both veteran RVers and those new to the lifestyle.
Thousand Trails Timothy Lake South provides a robust array of onsite services and offerings aimed at providing the "conveniences of home" in a wilderness setting. Whether you are a Thousand Trails member or a non-member guest, the park offers professional management and a variety of ways to stay. The primary services include:
- Full RV hookups featuring 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections.
- Onsite vacation rentals and cozy cabins for those traveling without an RV or tent.

The features and highlights of the park are centered on family-friendly fun and the appreciation of the Poconos landscape. The park is specifically geared toward families with children, offering numerous activities to keep younger campers engaged throughout their stay. Guests can also utilize the amenities at the sister property, Timothy Lake North, during the summer months. Key highlights include:

What is worth choosing about Thousand Trails Timothy Lake South is its status as a reliable, established anchor in the Poconos camping community. For many Pennsylvania residents, it is worth choosing because it strikes a perfect balance between "roughing it" and modern convenience. The site quality is consistently praised for being level and clean, and the "sparkling clean" state of the bathhouses is a significant benefit for those who prefer not to use their RV's internal facilities for everything. The year-round operation is a rare find in the region, allowing for unique experiences like winter camping without the crowds found at traditional summer resorts.
Furthermore, the ability to access two parks for the price of one (using both North and South facilities) provides an unparalleled variety of recreational options. Whether you are hiking the nearby Thunder Swamp Trailhead or enjoying a quiet evening by the campfire under the autumn leaves, the park offers a safe and contained environment for children to explore. The friendly staff and the sense of community among the permanent residents create a welcoming vibe that keeps visitors coming back year after year. For the local camper seeking a well-managed, affordable, and scenic getaway in one of Pennsylvania's most iconic regions, Timothy Lake South remains a top-tier choice that delivers on the promise of an authentic outdoor escape.

We had a great stay at Timothy Lake South in our travel trailer. Our site was clean and level. We had a full hook up sites and hook-ups worked great. The shower house was sparkling clean and the showers were powerful and hot. There is so much to explore in this area! We will definitely be back.
Yer basic Thousand Trails campground. No problems with this one. 😁Lots of beautiful trees in the fall. (well the trees are always there, but they have nice color in autumn. 🍂 🍁 🍂 )Plenty of good RV sites. The majority seem to be occupied by annual/ permanent residence.I believe all the sites are full hook up with water, sewer, and electricity.Staff were helpful and friendly.Roads are paved with potholes, RV sites are gravel.Pool is only open June - August.Restrooms were clean and decent.Cell signal 📶 with ATT was weak. No decent WiFi - bring your own Starlink.Noise was minimal in October 2025.Neighbors were absent or quiet. You’re a mile or two from the main roadway. It’s a windy trip into town and stores. Not close, but not too far.
Timothy Lake South remains one of my favorite getaways. The campground is surrounded by nature, offering a peaceful escape while still being conveniently close to all the attractions in the Poconos. While I’m not a fan of the assigned site policy, I truly appreciate the staff’s flexibility and willingness to help me find a good spot among the limited number of member sites now available. Their effort to accommodate has made all the difference and has made my recent stays at the campground very enjoyable. Thank you.
Potholes throughout the park, one bathhouse closed with no explanation (a screw lodged in between edge of mens and womens door to prevent entry. Second bathhouse in serious need of repair: flooring in dire need of being repainted, caulking around base of commode looked real nasty, soap dispenser empty for more than 2 weeks, a front door that wouldn't close, letting in mosquitoes, no paper towels dispenser (only a wall mounted hand dryer), a single bathroom stall, with missing wall tile, no ventilation, so you start sweating after you dry off after your shower. One of the 2 shower stalls had a door that barely opened to get inside. The second shower stall was jokingly labeled as handicapped, had a rusted out shower caddy, a filthy soap receptacle, and removable shower head too high to reach fr anyone in a wheelchair, no grab bars ( 2 are recommended), and no seat or bench, inside. One camper told me that the owners are only interested in profit, and let everything run down. To make matters worse, I was assigned to n RV pad, so difficult to back in, that it took me almost 30 minute, only to find out there was no city water hookup. I was then reassigned to another site with a faulty water spigot that I had to contact AJ, the maintenance man, to help me turn it on. He was apparently a new hire with little experience, although he did figure it out. Overall, a very bad experience, after being very tired after a long drive to get to the Park, getting later and later towards sunset, unavoidable, because Scotrun was booked up, which is always in much better shape. Camping here this week, but little to no improvements made. I've been back 4 times since this writing, abd I haven't seen any improvements.
Campground is nice, most sites are a nice size. Ours had plenty of gravel and was well taken care of. Bath house was in rough shape and not very clean. Staff is not very accommodating, we stayed with a group of 2 other campers and we requested sites close together but were separated, even though there were multiple open sites the entire weekend right beside both of us so we could have been all together.
