Timberland Lake Campground Introduce

For residents of New Jersey looking to trade the suburban landscape for a slice of the great outdoors, Timberland Lake Campground offers an "old-fashioned" family camping experience in the heart of Jackson Township. Spanning over 50 wooded acres, this destination has long been a favorite for those seeking a balance between natural tranquility and proximity to New Jersey's premier entertainment hubs. Whether you are a seasoned RV traveler or a family looking to introduce your children to their first tent-camping adventure, Timberland Lake provides a rustic yet accessible environment designed for making memories under the stars. The campground is characterized by its large, shaded sites and a community-centric atmosphere that feels worlds away from the nearby bustling highways.

The heart of the campground is its scenic five-acre lake, which serves as a central hub for relaxation and recreation. For many New Jersey families, the appeal lies in the ability to enjoy a traditional "piney" woods experience without having to travel across state lines. The property is managed with a focus on family fun, often hosting themed weekends and planned activities that bring guests together. From the sound of the wind through the tall trees to the laughter of children at the playground, Timberland Lake Campground captures the quintessential spirit of a Garden State summer. Most notably, the campground is situated just two miles west of Six Flags Great Adventure and the Safari, making it the closest camping facility to the park. It is a common morning ritual for campers to hear the distant sounds of the safari animals, adding a unique "wild" flair to their stay.

For guests with specific accessibility needs, the campground provides several key features to ensure a comfortable visit. The main entrance, parking lots, and public restrooms are wheelchair accessible, allowing everyone to participate in the camping experience. The terrain consists of natural dirt and sand roads, typical of the Pine Barrens region, which provides an authentic woods feel. On-site parking is plentiful, and the campground offers free parking lots for visitors and residents alike. Its location near major regional routes also means that local conveniences, such as supermarkets and supply stores in nearby New Egypt or Jackson, are just a short drive away.

I would like to start my review by saving everyone at campground, workers and guests alike were all very nice, approachable and super friendly. There is where my positive points stop sadly. The campground is filthy. There is garbage blowing everywhere. Seasonal sites that appear to have not been visited in years. Kudos to those very few and far between campers that try hard and have beautiful sites, but the sites full of busted tents, filthy campers, toys everywhere, garbage and just general filth make it look bad for everyone. This place could be really beautiful if they required their guests to have any pride in ownership at all and held them to a standard.I also have to mention the house when you pull in. The yard is full of animals (mini horse, goat, ducks, donkeys) which I love, but it is filthy. And the poor animals have to live in it. I have owned up to 3 horses a one time and multiple other animals, it is not that hard to keep it clean. The only animals living their best life are the ducks cause they can waddle over to the pond.Would love to see this place cleaned up as it could really be something. Just an idea, but how about the Campground clean up themed weekend where everyone comes together to clean the place up? I know I would gladly volunteer to help clean up the animal area.

Bathrooms were clean, but dated. The water in the showers was scalding HOT. We had a pull through space but arrived after dark, so it was difficult to see the very small roads through the park as they are obscured by pine needles. It was VERY quiet until 4am when a rooster started crowing(3+ hours before sunrise!). This was just one overnight stop on our route, so we cannot speak to other amenities offered here. For $40, we would definitely stop here again!

If it were not for the friendly neighbors, I would give this place one star. Heard a lot of good things about the campground so decided to give it a try for Labor Day weekend. The place certainly is showing its age. The sites are not maintained. The seasonal campers are not required to maintain their sites or campers. No one follows the 11pm quiet hours. Someone decided to light off m-80’s and other fireworks at midnight. The power in our section is still on fuses. Lost power multiple times. Camp store is not cleaned. Food products covered in dust. Bathrooms are not maintained. People speeding left and right and blowing dust every where. Such a shame as I was hoping to have found a new place to visit.

Loved the atmosphere and all there was to do! 3 different parks for littles, a pool, a basketball court, and paddle boat rentals and fishing! I wish they put a little more effort and involvement into advertising their "event weekends", as we went for one of them and didn't do a single activity because there was so hint that it was even going on. But the place is well kept and nice and a great time.
