Woodland Trails Introduce

Escape to the serene landscapes of Northern New Jersey at Woodland Trails, a premier campground destination nestled in the heart of Sussex County. This hidden gem offers a refreshing retreat for those looking to reconnect with nature without straying too far from the comforts of home. Known for its lush, wooded sites and peaceful atmosphere, Woodland Trails provides a versatile outdoor experience that caters to everyone—from traditional tent campers seeking a primitive "backwoods" feel to modern travelers in high-end RVs. As a staple of the local camping community, the resort prides itself on fostering a wholesome, family-oriented environment where the primary focus is on relaxation, exploration, and creating lasting memories under the stars.

The campground is characterized by its commitment to a "natural camping experience." Unlike larger, high-traffic commercial resorts, Woodland Trails maintains a tranquil pace that invites guests to slow down. Whether you are fishing by the lake, exploring the winding hiking paths, or gathering around a campfire with friends, the sights and sounds of the Garden State’s Highlands region provide the perfect backdrop. For local residents and visitors alike, this destination serves as a vital sanctuary for mental and physical well-being, offering a clean, safe, and professionally managed space to enjoy the best of the New Jersey outdoors.

Location and accessibility are among the top highlights for Woodland Trails. Situated at 7 Babtown Rd in Sussex, NJ 07461, the campground is conveniently located within the scenic Skylands region. It is easily accessible via major local routes, making it a straightforward drive for those towing large RVs or coming from the tri-state metropolitan area. Local users appreciate the proximity to iconic New Jersey landmarks, such as High Point State Park and the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge, which offer additional opportunities for day trips and nature photography. The entrance and on-site parking lots are designed with accessibility in mind, featuring wheelchair-accessible facilities to ensure all members of the community can enjoy the park's offerings.

The layout of the campground is thoughtfully organized to balance community and privacy. Many sites are nestled between mature trees or along the edges of the manicured lawn areas, providing a sense of seclusion. The "cove" style sites and those backing onto the running creek are particularly popular among those looking for a more intimate setting. Despite its secluded feel, the campground is only a short drive from local amenities in the town of Sussex, ensuring that supplies and dining options are never too far away.

  • Full-service RV camping sites equipped with electric, water, and sewer hookups for maximum convenience.
  • Traditional and primitive tent camping sites for those who enjoy a more rustic and authentic outdoor stay.

What makes Woodland Trails worth choosing is the genuine care and hospitality that the staff provides to every guest. For a New Jersey local, the value lies in finding a campground that feels like a community rather than just a commercial lot. It is worth choosing because of its versatility; whether you need a full-hookup site for a 45-foot RV or a quiet corner for a single tent by a creek, this park has a "special atmosphere" for everyone. The staff’s willingness to go the extra mile—whether staying late for a check-in or delivering firewood at night—sets a high standard for service in the region.

Furthermore, the variety of entertainment options, from the tranquil lake to the bustling game room, makes it an excellent value for families. It is a place where kids can be kids—riding bikes, exploring kid-friendly hikes, and playing in the playground—while adults enjoy the peace of a well-monitored park. By choosing Woodland Trails, you are opting for a clean, safe, and beautifully maintained slice of New Jersey wilderness that rewards visitors with both relaxation and adventure. It is truly a place where you can arrive as a guest and leave feeling like part of the Woodland Trails family, ensuring you'll want to return season after season.

I absolutely loved camping here this past weekend!! Lisa has been incredibly helpful with booking, she stayed late so that she could show me to my campsite when i arrived, & she came to check on us over our stay to make sure everything was going good, I really appreciate her, you can tell she really cares about the campers & wants them to have a comfortable stay! I was at site c9 which had a cute little cove to set up our tent and a creek running behind it, it was also pretty private which I loved, it was very peaceful. some of my favorite things about this camp were the fact you can have a fire on the beach, there's a bath house right behind the beach with an arcade in it that stays open throughout the night, which also had pool & air hockey, a bunch of board&card games as well, & even a camping cook book to look through! there was also a bunch of snacks & drinks to buy for a very cheap price. there's access to firewood all day&night, they'll even drop it off to your site for you (&ice). the campground has multiple different types of sites so it suits any type of camper. I definitely plan on coming back here next season!

Perfect place. They have RV sites, Tent sites, Camper rentals. Each site has its own special atmosphere. There is beautiful lake on the site. All located between trees and lawn. The common area is nicely renovated. We spent there a few days with our RV and wish we could stay much longer. The stuff is just amazing. We will be back for sure.

The woman and the office and her daughter are super nice and friendly answered all questions and made sure we were all okay. The thing that disappointed us though was that there seem to not be any noise rules. We were there July 3-6. The first night was fine. The next nights, however, were sleepless. People in other sites played incredibly loud music until 2-3 am with no consideration for those who wanted a quiet night and to actually sleep. They also walked around speaking unnecessarily loud and drove a UTV around all night. There didn't seem to be any consequences or policing from those running the camp. Although it was a nice place we will not be back. A peaceful quiet night may not be everyone's cup of tea but neither is loud voices music and vehicles until 3 am.

My husband and I love to go camping. We tried this place and it was great. The lake was very beautiful and we were able to fish on the lake. Britney was very kind and helpful and assisted with fire wood and ice as needed. First camping site we been to that delivers fire wood and ice when you call. We loved this place and will definitely return.
