Ackerman's Retirement Park Introduce
Ackerman's Retirement Park, also widely known as Ackerman's Retirement Community, is a established 55+ manufactured home neighborhood situated in the heart of Salem, New Hampshire. For over six decades, this community has provided a vital niche in the local housing market, offering southern New Hampshire residents a way to enjoy their retirement years in a quiet, resident-focused environment. As a dedicated age-restricted community, it caters specifically to older adults who are looking to downsize from larger family homes into more manageable, single-level living spaces without sacrificing their independence or the familiarity of the local area.
The park is recognized as one of the most desirable senior living options in the region due to its focus on providing an "easy, low-maintenance lifestyle." The community is comprised of well-kept manufactured homes, many of which are modern units featuring contemporary amenities like central air, open-concept kitchens, and spacious primary bedroom suites. For many New Hampshire retirees, Ackerman's represents a balance between financial practicality and quality of life. The community's atmosphere is frequently described by long-term residents as peaceful and neighborly, characterized by wide, walkable streets that are perfect for morning exercise and social interactions with fellow retirees.
Location and accessibility are two of the strongest attributes of Ackerman's Retirement Park. Located at 48 Bell Drive A in Salem, the community is strategically nestled between two of the area's popular water bodies, Arlington Pond and Shadow Lake. This positioning provides a scenic, semi-rural backdrop while keeping residents just minutes away from the vibrant commercial corridors of Route 28 and Route 111. For those who frequently travel or have family visiting from out of state, the park's proximity to Interstate 93 is a major convenience, placing it only 30 minutes from Boston and less than an hour from the New Hampshire Lakes Region.
In addition to its regional connectivity, the park is designed with local accessibility in mind. The infrastructure includes a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot to accommodate residents and visitors with varying levels of mobility. Salem itself is a bustling town that offers a wealth of senior-centric services, including a first-class senior center with a robust calendar of activities. Residents of Ackerman's are perfectly positioned to take advantage of nearby shopping at the Mall at Rockingham Park and the ever-growing Tuscan Village, as well as several top-tier medical facilities and hospitals located within a five-mile radius.

What is worth choosing at Ackerman's Retirement Park is the opportunity for a dignified, affordable retirement in one of New Hampshire's most convenient towns. While the cost of living in southern New Hampshire can be high, Ackerman's provides a way for seniors to keep their housing costs predictable. The inclusion of services like lawn mowing and water/sewer in the park fees represents a significant value, especially for those who want to spend their time enjoying hobbies rather than managing property maintenance. The community is particularly worth choosing if you value a sense of security and being surrounded by peers who share a similar lifestyle and values.
Additionally, the location makes it an ideal choice for the "active senior." You are close enough to the Massachusetts border to enjoy tax-free shopping in New Hampshire while remaining just a short drive from the cultural attractions of Boston or the beaches of the seacoast. If you are looking for a move-in-ready home in a welcoming, safe, and established 55+ neighborhood, Ackerman's Retirement Park stands out as a premier southern New Hampshire choice.

I lived at Ackerman's for 6 years & really enjoyed it. My neighbors were great. My trailer was adequate. The people at the Community Center are lovely. The owners are responsive when called. I loved walking the streets for my exercise - very pretty.
I have lived here for quite a time and find the street lighting is almost nonexistent. The roads have not been fixed since since it opened since 1957 when it opened. They increased the rent $20.00 and discontinued "Trash pick up" forcing the owner to hire a private trash hauler .Not a Friendly park, I feel. To old to move.Eugene Croteau
The owners are very mean..they do not treat the elderly that live there with any respect, more like they bully them...they are taking away the G arbadge pick up which they pay a park fee that says G arbadge pick up in the park fee agreement ..so they r taking G arbadge pick up away and going up on the park fee..also they do a horrible job on the roads ..very dangerous for the elderly..they never sand or salt the roads , they barely plow them...u cannot even drive on their property with a dog inside your car, or the person u are GPING to visit gets a warning to be kicked out..AND THE DOG NEVER GOT OUT OF THE CAR..AND MY DOG IS 4 POUNDS...HARMLESS...my dad lives there and they are all afraid to say anything to the owners because they are afraid they will get treated badly or even get kicked out ..they will make up an excuse to boot u out if they don't like YOU, or if you complain...I THINK THEY ARE ELDERLY ABSUERS..YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ABUSE SOMEONE PHYSICALLY TO HAVE IT BE ABUSE...This is my honest OPION..I would never say anything bad unless I know for sure what I see and hear...thanku
In the winter they do a horrible job on the roads...The owners of the park do them not the town...the roads are horrible especially where the driveways are, they are all ripped up and big divots so when they back out their car scraps..And lastly you can't even drive on their property with an dog in your car or the person you are going to visit gets a warning, and this is without taking the dog out of your car...I think that is rediculous and pregitis..understandably no dogs on the property walking but in the car really...I just think the elderly get ignored over there with their issues..and park fee isn't cheap..This is strictly my opinion from what I see and what I have been told by different people that live in that park ..
Nice 55 plus community. Well groomed and houses are not on top of each other.
