What is worth choosing when it comes to Battenkill Glamping Resort? For many New York residents, the answer lies in the "zero-stress" camping model. The ability to arrive at a campsite where the bed is already made with high-thread-count linens and a heater or air conditioner is ready at the flip of a switch is an invaluable luxury. The on-site bistro is another major draw; guests frequently rave about the breakfast sandwiches and wood-fired pizzas prepared by the owner, Scott, which save visitors from the hassle of packing and preparing every meal themselves. Customer Reviews
Battenkill Glamping Resort is a dreamy place to spend the weekend! The facilities are excellent; our geodesic dome was clean and very comfortable. The beds are very comfortable firm spring mattresses (no cheap memory foam!) The grounds are immaculate, and the weeping willows on the property are gorgeous. The owner was very present and reachable before and during our stay, and could not have been kinder. The food he made on-site was delicious, particularly the breakfast sandwich (which we'll be thinking about for weeks). We shared the bath house with other guests, and it was kept clean the whole time. Each unit includes a binder with extensive recommendations for the area, and the owner offered some additional ones as well. We hiked and explored in nearby Manchester, VT, an easy drive. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a couple days of peace in a rural landscape! Thank you, Battenkill, for going above and beyond. Can't wait to visit again!
The Battenkill Resort is a gem in upstate New York! We are long time campers who were looking to camp again but without all the setup and take down. We found our spot! We stayed in a deluxe tent cabin with private bath right on the river. The bathroom is 5 star; the towels, bathrobes, and bed linens are hotel quality. Our cabin had an air conditioner and heater to use as needed. The grill was clean along with needed grill utensils. We also enjoyed sitting around our camp fire in Adirondack chairs. And when we reminded ourselves we did not have to cook our next meal (😀), we went to the on-site bistro which offers a wonderful diverse selection of choices and specials along with cocktails all prepared by our host, Scott. All facilities and the beautiful grounds are pristine and well maintained. Scott and his team were more than accommodating and friendly. And last but not least, the resort is quiet and peaceful.
My teen daughter and I stayed 2 nights in one of the Domes. It was fantastic. The food was really very, very good- the use of local, organic produce was exceptional. We rode bikes, tubed on the river, and made s’mores on our own little campfire. We drive into Cambridge and Greenwich one day to look around, which was an easy drive. The bathrooms, common areas and cafe were clean and modern. An excellent stay!
We had an amazing stay at Battenkill. The food was amazing Scott does an excellent job preparing the food. He made us ribs for dinner one night. We had breakfast sandwiches and coffee for breakfast each day they were delicious and kept us going for a late lunch each day. The pizza he makes is excellent. As a home pizza maker I know what it takes for a pizza that was as delicious as Scott made
Based on the reviews and promotion of a StarDome decided to stay for a pre Birthday weekend.Service was fine: they will send you constant reminders and a list of "local" trails and things to do. I say local loosely but will get to that in location. The owner was very nice, you can tell they take a lot of pride in upkeep with most things. Towels, robes, lotions in the bathhouse, bikes, kayaks all to use are amazing things to offer. Very helpful even if you need something when they aren't there they will support, great people. The only major gripe was being told upon arrival they will be closing the only place to get food on the campsite early for vacation, since the website clearly states you do not have to worry about meals we were unprepared for this. It wasn't a huge ordeal just wish it would of been a heads up since they knew in advance to bring food or prepare to eat out.The food offered is one stand, with a good variety of things. Prices are a little high like 21$ for hummus but the food looks good (I had a breakfast sandwhich which was amazing). They do have a pizza oven, and the pizzas sounded amazing. I wouldn't recommend the mix drinks since they are made out of a mix drink machine they aren't very good, bring canned cocktails instead or just order the draft. The dome: Just stay in the cabin...I feel that is how this place is 4 to 5 stars the Dome was disappointing. It was not positioned correctly, it faced the trees not the field. Though they are correcting the others we stayed at the only one with a real door which the door handled popped off multiple times. The others had clear doors with just zippers, no curtains. They did say they are fixing this and other than the one by the restrooms you are not close enough to see in but still a heads up.The way the Dome was placed and how the pads were set up inside you could not see stars from it. It should of been turned toward the field and some panels that covered clear windows should of been removed so you could see the stars/outside. When asked the only response was the night was going to be cloudy anyway so to not worry...the 2nd night we just looked from outside which was beautiful but had I known I would of just booked the cabin. This may of been just of been mine though. It is also very small so two people would just fit. They seem to have been struggling with construction of them, so benefit of the doubt next year there will be improvements. The booklet inside the dome was not updated and did not have the full menu to the resturant as well so make sure to check the email they send for all the information. The good things are they provide a coffee machine, disposable silverware, heat, AC, common small tools like power bank and wifi so it is comfortable and clean (make sure to bring your own pillows though). The cooler they provided did end up having a broken drain plug and leaked everywhere inside the dome so we just used our own. There is no Microwave to be used in the dome or no common area with one that we saw, firewood is an extra charge after the first batch along with ice (no big deal just a heads up since NY law you cannot bring your own firewood).Price: Affordable, perfect for what you get. If it was any more expensive I wouldn't think it was worth it.Location: Eh. You are outside of cambridge a small town with a grocery shop and liquor store (best stop of the trip, black dogs owner was the best person I met the whole time there). But the trails they recommend most were an hour out. Saratoga was also an hour out...like most towns/cities. So if you want to just do a relax glamping hang out with family bike river trip it is fine but going anywhere else is a little trek. Worth going to the trails just be prepared to drive to them, the closest one to the camp site I would not of recommended it wasn't well cared for but the MA trails were fabulous. If you have time to travel into Saratoga go! The fall colors were also beautiful.Overall: It was fine, would I drive 6hr again to go probably not. Great owners, just over sold for what you get.
